Anarchism is good if and only if everyone involves agrees to be personally responsible and not be a shithead to the people around them. This appears to be contrary to human nature. Government exists as a necessary evil to stop the shitheadedness.

As an example, I am, right now, in a dispute with a contractor. He has done a really lousy job working on my home. The quality of his framing work is fantastic, but the quality of his aesthetic work sucks. He shows up when he feels like it. I haven't seen him in two and a half weeks, despite several promises to do so.

Without government, I would not have the capacity to sue him once I get done bitching him out. I would never have the opportunity to be made whole.

The purpose of government, then, is to protect the rights and enforce the responsibilities of its citizens.

You are right in therory but in practical application thats not how it works. It works like a mafia type or cartell type. Thus we have major dissdents! One thing fer sure is we have proved all these years that man is not capable of ruling over himself. Not peacefully anyway. And what govt has not from time to time, eliminated their closest enemies or citizens. Anytime you have to go to court to solve a civil matter, the only ones who win are the attorneys.

Hm. I think we disagree on semantics. To my thinking the word "purpose" indicates for what reason a thing is allowed to be called into existence. I don't think we disagree in any way on what the end effect is.

The big question is this: how do you fix it?

Just look around you it's really happening right b4 our eyes, a slow but true evolutionary process. Yes at my age I can easily see the great changes in our social structure and our culture with the power of all the vast subcultures. People are struggling for freedom and liberty. Changes are taking place all around us. And if the exsisting govt. can't change with our society it will evolve into a dinosaur. Ex: are gay rights, they used to put men into federal prison for being gay. Minorities speaking out for equal rights and don't forget the emigrants rights including illegals. We are even close to building a "berlin wall" on our south border. The sole main infastructure of our society was the american family unit, which is now dissolving away. There is no way to stop this evolutionary process its like trying to stop time. Even religions must evolve or die out. So the end effect is called change, those who adapt this into their self being will survive and the rest are just some forgotten past. And remember that the whole universe exsists on 96 % total darkness and only 4 % light. And how fast is that changing?

So in short, the fix is not just to allow, but basically to require, that government succmumb to the same impermanence that affects everything else. Works for me.

To control a geographical area for the purpose of harvesting profits from the masses. See Malcom X and his answer! Exploitation of someones wealth.
