Scalia Is Insane, He needs to be locked up

Do you realize that this fucking madman asshole nutcase is going to be RULING YOUR LIFE for the next 20-30 years? Along with his contemporaries which comprise 85% of the sitting federal judges in the country who are just like him? You know, the corporate/fascist/stalinists that have been inserted into the anus of the country by rethuglicans the last 28 years...

Which is why this is Reagan Era Year 28. What I'm now calling this year. Makes more sense than anything else.

Tortured Logic: Scalia Says ‘Torture’ Is Not Unconstitutional Because It Is Not ‘Punishment’
Jon Ponder | Apr. 30, 2008

www.pensitoreview.com/2008/04...ishment/

The meaning of the Eighth Amendment to the Constitution could not be clearer:
“When [a government interrogator is] hurting you in order to get information from you, you wouldn’t say he’s punishing you. What is he punishing you for?”
– U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia

Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

And yet, beginning in 2002, the most senior members of the Bush administration, including Dick Cheney, Sec. of State Colin Powell, National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, Attorney Gen. John Ashcroft and others, met dozens of times to draft a set of torture guidelines for use by CIA interrogators. It’s no wonder that Jonathan Turley, a strong advocate of impeaching Pres. Clinton, called their actions a war crime and compared their sessions to a meeting of gangster Tony Soprano’s Bada Bing Club.

On “60 Minutes” Last Sunday, Supreme Court Justice Antonin “Nino” Scalia offered a new and, well, tortured rationale for the legality of what Bush has euphemistically called “advanced interrogation techniques”:

STAHL: If someone’s in custody, as in Abu Ghraib, and they are brutalized, by a law enforcement person — if you listen to the expression “cruel and unusual punishment,” doesn’t that apply?

SCALIA: No. To the contrary. You think — Has anybody ever referred to torture as punishment? I don’t think so.

STAHL: Well I think if you’re in custody, and you have a policeman who’s taken you into custody–

SCALIA: And you say he’s punishing you? What’s he punishing you for? … When he’s hurting you in order to get information from you, you wouldn’t say he’s punishing you. What is he punishing you for?

As often happens, Keith Olbermann speaks for every sane American:

The second most senior associate justice on Mr. Bush‘s Supreme Court, Antonin Scalia, on TV now repeating in essence what he said earlier, that torture is not really as the Constitution prohibits, cruel and unusual punishment…

  • we're ruled by stupid white men.......
    • i don't believe for one second that they are stupid white men, no matter hard hard Moore promotes his books.

i actually believe, thinking that they are stupid is probably the main reason that we are in this mess to begin with. They are some of the most intelligent worldly ruthless mother fuckers anyone has ever known, and they know exactly what they are doing.

we would be well advised to remember this next time we look at our children, because these fuckers have much grander plans than 911, Iraq or Afghanistan.

      • Agreed. They are not stupid white men. As a matter of fact, Cheney is without doubt highly intelligent as are most of the others in this filthyrich's coup d'etat fascist cabal that has taken over the country. Their arrogance is what trips them up most of the time, which in a way I guess is being sort of stupid. They KNOW they are smarter than you and have the money, status, and power to prove it.

Year 28 of the Reagan Era. Are we having fun yet?

This country hasn't even seen the worst these slimy scumbags are planning yet I greatly fear. If/when Cheney bombs Iran and there are retaliations here, then we will find out how far they are willing to go to keep themselves in power. Or invades Venezuela or bombs Syria or just goes completely fucking around the bend and bombs San Francisco that bastion of progressive thinking!!! Those Halliburton concentration camps are sitting empty, NSPD 51 is ready to be invoked, and the ignorant will do what they are told and start shooting dissenters.

But that doesn't meant they aren't insane.
        • That's why THEY are THE.......ELITE!!! How could the people at the top of the food chain really be stupid? GWB is a puppet for the man, uh men & women, behind the curtain. Welcome to OZ bitches!!!

I love Michael Moore and that other guy that did Fast Food Nation and recently made the movie "Where in the world is Osama Bin Laden." But are they pogues or what? I do most certainly believe that they have opened ALOT of eyes but they need to truly push the envelope. Expand / expound on what so many of their forerunners have already put on the table. They have a voice. Do they put personal career before all else. I like to think not. But sometimes I wonder if they arent discussing certain things for specific reasons. I still havent even seen the Michael Moore movie about the health care system. I know the name of it but can't even think of the name of it. Why? Because I'm right where THEY want me to be. Semi-content and sedated. Oblivious and stupid.
          • The movie is "Sicko"

.....and yes I say it again: We are ruled by stupid white men.

Any asshole can get filthy rich by ripping other people off, you don't need to be intelligent for that.

Cheney is nothing but a thug.
            • Oh Pogi, you just hate the idea of Cheney being intelligent! Bushieboy isn't obviously, more along the lines of a "missing too many brain cells" alcoholic who still has a little of that weasel cunning left behind those too-close-together eyes.

Cheney the thug. Yeah, agree but he's a devious little shit with layers like an onion kind of
smarts in back of that "go fuck yourself" mouth...

So what terms describe the little tub of lard sneering & snarling vp? :)
              • I agree he is devious. When he was Secretary of Defense under Bush 1 he decided that the Pentagon could outsource things like feeding the troops to a place called Halliburton. Isn't it kind of odd that he became boss of that outfit after he retired from that post?

If you look at his background you will see that he was nothing but a poor congressman from Wyoming. He got rich off murdering people. Oh sorry that sounds too harsh, I meant he got rich off making war in the world.

No, getting rich off murdering people is appropriate since that is what the politicians in the pay of the corporations order the military to do to peasants in other countries when they have some resources a US corporation wants...

Unfortunately the US military is, after all the patriotic pap and propaganda is cleared away, a trained group of murderers in the pay of US corporations. Anyone who disputes this should read Brig. Gen. Smedley Bulter's "War is a Racket." From the horse's mouth so to speak.

We act the same as most empires have throughout history...
                  • This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.

Yes, you are correct seal war is a business.

People don't want to believe that the folks who sit on the UN 'Security Council" are also the world's biggest weapons dealers.

It's a sick affair to say the least.
