Help! I want to glitter up a pair of funky red pleather (and cheap) dress shoes that I like to perform in. Can anyone recommend a glue? Remember, the shoes are pleather (vinyl, probably), so whatever glue I use, I want to ensure it is clear and doesn't damage the material or cause it to crack. Anyone have experience with this?
Also, in general, I've been wondering about good, clear glue to use for crafting projects. Please advise.
Thank you!

Sun, September 30, 2007 - 9:58 PMwell, I would recommend shoe goo, or e6000, or something flexible. Try www.thistothat.com for extra help.

Re: Seeking to glitter-ify a pair of shoes--glue advice needed
Sat, October 13, 2007 - 10:53 AMJust to give you all an update, I ended up using a foam paintbrush to spread Sobo all over my shoes (I did one at a time). Then I covered them in glitter, shook off the excess, and let them dry. When I finished, I sprayed them with fixative, the same stuff you'd spray on a charcoal drawing. It seems to have worked well, although I haven't gotten out and moved around in them yet. I still have the feeling that if I accidentally brush my feet together, I will leave behind a splash of glitter.
Anyone have any ideas for how to "varnish" the shoes in a way that will lock on the glitter (even though it's glued from underneath)?
Thanks!

Re: Seeking to glitter-ify a pair of shoes--glue advice needed
Sat, October 13, 2007 - 11:55 AMwell, even if you buy shoes with glitter already on them, i can guarantee you that glitter will fall off(I have a pair of my own). I would also think that if you painted or sprayed a varnish type thing on them, they might night glitterfy the way you want them to nearly as much.
