I need help making a Silent Hill costume

Hello, I am still sort of new at this, but I am planning on working with a group of freinds to make a costume of the Lying Figure from Silent Hill 2. Mostly what I need help with is what to do you get the face and skin, besides that I sort of have an idea of how to get the straitjacket effect of the costume. (get one, or make a makeshift one). The costume will dominantly have the design of the games version, but the texture of the movies, unless you have suggestions for a better idea.

Thanks in advance

So any help and suggestions would help greatly.

Seeking to glitter-ify a pair of shoes--glue advice needed

Help! I want to glitter up a pair of funky red pleather (and cheap) dress shoes that I like to perform in. Can anyone recommend a glue? Remember, the shoes are pleather (vinyl, probably), so whatever glue I use, I want to ensure it is clear and doesn't damage the material or cause it to crack. Anyone have experience with this?

Also, in general, I've been wondering about good, clear glue to use for crafting projects. Please advise.

Thank you!

Alright, we'll try this again. CHAPS?

Anyone want to make chaps? This is an easy starter costume! Make them from fur, faux leather(most machines can't handle leather), fleece, or...pretty much anything! Brenda has awesome pink fur chaps that I am DYING to borrow someday. Whaddaya say, who wants chaps?

Bring your sewing machine, fabric (2 yards of 60" fabric or 3 yards of 45" fabric), and a belt you want to use with them.
Date: Monday, July 31, at 6:30.
Place: The Phallus of Fine Parts, my house!

PM me for an address.

OK, I have a total noob question - does anyone know how to easily make a toga? Do you just join two opposite corners of a rectangle and let it hang? What size fabric would you use? Would a queen-size bed sheet work, or does it have to be square? As you can imagine, I'm no seamster - my only experience is with leather working.

Thanks!

So, I decided to not just make one birthday present for myself, but TWO! And I just did the stupidest thing I think I've ever done.

I'm making a toga for Caligula, and if I were half as smart as I think I am, this never would have happened. I would have just stuck with wrapping a sheet around myself. But no.... I decided to do something special. I'm an idiot.

I just sewed the entire thing. Right side out. Because I was working on it at four o'clock this morning, and didn't drink any coffee. So now, my task for today, is to take out all three hours of the stitches I put in, and put in some new ones. And the really sucky part of it is, I didn't even notice, until I tried it on, and my housemate looked at me, and asked why he could see raw edges. Duh.

Talk about Costume Chaos.

Upcoming Takeover

So, I'm making my costume for the upcoming Whippersnappers takeover. (It's also my birthday present to myself, since the takeover is the day after, but that's just a happy side note).

When I get stumped, who can I bitch to? I've been told that it's all pretty much straight stitches, which makes it easier, but I just *know* I'm gonna hit something that's going to frustrate me and make me want to chuck the damned machine out the bloody window. Of course, if I do that, I'm bound to hit one of the cats. Can't do that.

So? Any takers?

well, kind of. I want to hold a stitch and bitch party...but one where you are sewing things, coming up with patterns, etc. bring a friend to help you, or if you have the know-how and want to share, come without a project!

I'm thinking a Monday or Thursday night? Perhaps in a couple weeks. Any comments?

This tribe is the brainchild of a night out with some great friends realizing that I, too, am a costume whore.

We will be using this group (I think) to hold events, similar to Kitchen Chaos style where we will learn everyone's trick of the trade, or at least some of them... Each night will focus on one person and their style. Or we can just have crafting sessions together.

We can have theme nights like leather work, sewing patterns, knitwork, corsets, latex... the list can go on and on. Feel free to chine in with whatever you have in mind and we will all get together have some fun designing and then to strut it off.
