Anyone working on a project?

I am working on a bra top, and I'm waiting for suggestions before I start cutting some curtains to make something!

Hair fascinators! That is what I'm working on right now and your suggestion of a tut has gears grinding together, smoke coming out of my ears. LOL!

I'm also working on some arm gauntlets except I have to redo the pattern, I made a mistake and have to redo some measurements, but the idea works great and I finally finished ruffling the lace that will go on them.

i'm finishing up a kathleen crowley inspired ensemble. i had green & black velvet lucky brand jeans that i've never been able to fit into .it also has a cool brocade pattern over it. they're hard to explain but look so cool! so i cut 'em up, made a triangle top & leggings that I've added black lace ruffles & brown satin ruffles to at the bottoms. I found some wonderfully awful black sparkly pants at goodwill that i'm going to cut into shorts & attach garters to to hold up the leggings.

i absolutely adore kathleen's designs but i'm just never giong to spend that much. plus i had some really unique material available! i'm going for a vintage carny look =)

other than that i have some belts i'm trying to finish up. they just need yarn & dangly bits attatched.

i've been so obsessed with my costuming lately! it's all i ever spend money on any more (except stuff like workshops & dancin' dvds of course =)

I am currently working on a new bra. I also have some other stuff I want to make, but I am not sure what I want to do first. I will be so busy that I don't know when I will have time. I hope to have some new stuff done before Med Fest (mid July) so I can perform in them.

Just finished up a wild skirt for Miscon, going to try to make some flair pants and a top so I can change it up some. Of course, where I will ever wear a lime green and purple tiger striped skirt again, I have no idea!! (Cthulu colors are lime green and purple, so we did them to honor him. Cthulu is a mystical evil fiction creature.)

I am STILL working on my new belt. It's a never ending endeavor. I am also converting a stretch velvet shirt I haven't worn for years into a choli. I'm working on 3 paintings and just started a new one. And jewelery, jewelery, jewelery! Busy little bee I am. -Freya

Vampire costume - beading bra, skirt and belt for me.
Purple and ink Bedlah for a customer
Fixing various egyptian costumes - strap adjustments, adding a motif to a belt to make it bigger, repairing turkish edging on skirts and replacing the net body on a dress.

Coming up - Ivory costume for me and designing a troupe costume.

Just finished: a green satin cabaret-style costume for a show we did at Detroit Raqs two weeks ago.

In process: figuring out what a guy doing old-school ATS would wear...mulling over ideas and designs. I want to stay well within the FCBD aesthetic but specifically and definitely male.

Then Pennsic clothes, mostly Egyptian and Turkish, with a little Western European thrown in...

Yurt, 2 entaris, 4 shalwar, and a kamiz. I would have more, but gauze line/cotton is so expensive, dammit! And then I need to make more ME SCA stuff. I should really go work on it now . . . .crap.

I'm making a leather bra that may end up having Madonna-spiked boobs due to my inexperience with leatherworking. =P

I made a bra with leather for last year's International Oriental Dance Festival in Cape Town. I made the cup "cover" in two parts and then laced it down the front by putting eyelets in and sewing it on after I knew where it needed to sit. That way I avoided the pointy Madonna look. You can see it in my photos.

Now working on my next tribal costume, corset belt with lace and crushed tafetta panels and bra covered in the same lace and lots, and lots of metal. This is a step away from my leather look from my last tribal creation. Once it's done it's going to be awesome! :)

I am getting ready for a full costume. I have this lovely blue/green fabric that begs to be made in to a flamenco style skirt with lots of ruffles and frills and then lucked in to a blue bra that about matches the blue in the skirt. Now I just need by back to stop aching so I can sit at the machine long enough to stitch...

Finishing up a couple of commissions, then inspecting my Pennsic wardrobe. I've got a metric buttload of linen smocks, but I need to refit a couple of my dresses, and I've got some gorgeous fabrics that are crying to be Pennsic garb.

I'm getting into my Pennsic frenzy too. Just finished TWO jingly belts - one delicately beaded and coined, and one Kuchi beaded and strung up - and now I have to make a new coin top because I didn't use all the coins I thought I would with the Kuchi belt. I'll probably end up with a few new leather bras as well, but I've been focusing on belts and fabric for a change. I'm going to try my hand at a pair of pantaloons and a ten yard skirt - see how the other half lives.

The secret to avoiding the Madonna cone effect with leather is to use the right thickness of leather and drape and pin over and over until it looks right. If the leather you use doesn't move fairly fluidly, you will have more chance of "coning" rather than draping. I always like to use one piece of leather to cover my bras whenever possible for a clean look and to avoid that. I have also done very precise darting and such to get it right, but it requires very good symmetry, pinning, and small stitches. If all else fails, cover the bra however you can and use really big trim to cover up the mistakes. And fringe solves all sewing mishaps.

i failed miserably at a top last week...still need to see if its salvageable, or if i have to cut all new stuff and try another way. i only have enough of the fabrics for one more try :( thats the biggest drawback of using recycled materials from my work (thrift store)...

i started some wrap pants made of beautiful ivory cotton voile-like curtains with ruffles today!!! they are the PERFECT width folded in half to just cut the crotch U out of them, and sew the two sides together!!! easiest damn project ive probably ever done LOL now i just need to go buy new white thread for my serger so i can finish them...

I try to think of failed projects as workshops... sometimes it works.. I usually learn something from it, anyway.. looking forward to seeing how your wrap pants turned out. they sound cool!

I finished my first bra today!!! Kept it simple, covered in black velvet first, then some red fabric with beads and mirrors , and two rows of large coins. I do need to recover a strap, but all in all it came out okay!.
