My mate is wonderful because....

topic posted Fri, May 18, 2007 - 8:22 PM by  Azhrde
Our favorite carry out place closed early tonight. He knew I was hungry, bored and getting restless. We didn't want to go out because he had eBay auctions ending, so he made me a lovely cheese omelette and brought it to me at my desk. Tomorrow we are meeting friends to go to a rock show, then stopping to buy flowers for the front flower bed. He knows nothing tickles me quite like beautiful rocks and playing in dirt!
(If I'm really lucky, I'll talk him into buying me a new lawnmower.)

    Good luck with the mower!!!

this weekend I am out of town with my daughters and 5 of my grandkids, The oldest is haveing her 6th Birthday party tomorrow. My Man when I left town was at my old house that He thought would be a good buy for me working. This house is now totally gutted and the back addition that at one time housed the kitchen and bathroom is torn off. We are getting ready to put a new addition which will be the kitchen dining room, Bathroom and utility room. Also upstairs will add a 10 X 16 walkin closit. I left him working in the back yard where we had a huge old half dead tree pushed down today. He cut up as much as he could. Will bring in the wood splitter to get the rest down to moveable size. Plus had to rent a sump pump because the old sistren is where we are digging for the foundation and had to sucked dry, Tomorrow the backhoe is coming in and digging out the foundation. He is doing this while I am away playing.

      My mate is wonderful because:
He is gentle with me and never gets upset when something hurts
we can truly talk and he NEVER yells. We've never had a "fight". We disagree, we discuss, we work it out.
He LOVES to snuggle for snuggling's sake, not only as foreplay
he doesn't think reading books is a waste of time
      He encourgaes me
He goes to my little girls' softball games with me on a saturday morning, out of town...AND drives!
he never bitches about chores and would rather I leave the big messy stuff for him
He says THANK YOU for every single meal I fix him, even just cutting up an apple AND he appreciates each meal because he didn't hve to fix it...AND he never complains when HE does have to make something for himself...
he understands what "baggage" is (emotionally) and would never tell me or anyone esle to "just get over it"
He has a twisted perverted humor...just like me.... :-)
      He picked me!!!!!!!!

        <<AND he appreciates each meal>>

I can bring Jackal a grilled cheese and soup and he reacts like I brought him filet mignon and champagne on a silver platter. That's a great feeling.

EXACTLY! he acts like every meal is some fabulous treat...he brags about getting to take leftovers for lunch to his co-workers! Its so sweet! When he really likes a dish he will make a point of saying, at least twice, that it was very tasty and then will take the time to pick out something he liked, the noodle, the meat the spice...whatever...he's not a real foodie, but he knows it interests me so he will watch cooking shows and make an effort to understand flavor cominations and techniques....how cool is that??

And he agrees that going to a book store together, then spilting up to wander, meet again, wander, meet again, etc...IS a great way to have a 'date night out" then we go get supper, discussed the books we bought and the ones we found that wemight by later...then go home and curl up and read... May mate is wonderful because he loves me and lets me know it everyday. We talk though things and never fight, yet he is quiet and stands back when I have an angry outburst -- never at him, always at some thing or other not working or stubbing my toe or whatever. He puts up with my moods and is sympathetic when I hurt. He takes care of me when I'm sick. He is willing to become involved in the shows I produce or participate in -- he's a great stage technician! He's really intelligent and I learn things from him, can ask him questions about scientific things that fascinate me but I don't quite understand. He is gentle and kind to everyone and everything, the cat and chickens included. He puts up with my far-fetched ideas and helps me realize some of them into reality. He appreciates me more than I appreciate myself. He is loyal, faithful and the best friend I have ever had.

There's nothing like a good belly laugh at 8:30 in the morning. Jackal called me on his way to work to tell me, "I have an idea to make us a gazillion dollars!" I replied with, "What...you just rear ended a Brink's truck and the driver is unconscious with the keys where you can reach them?"
He said, "NO! I'm going to produce a show called Lap Dancing With The Stars!" We'll get celebrities like, say, Susan Sarandon and Jennifer Jason Leigh and see how long it takes them to cause, say, Woody Harrelson to get a woody..."

Mema...i've never seen mne without a beard either...except in pictures of course...he hates to shave so doesn't. now that my sister is a hairdresser he has her cut his hair and trim the beard every 6 weeks or so...he loves it!

he has the dick clark gene...he's 38...but looks more my age...if not a bit younger on some days...i'm 32. If he shaved I'd be accused of robbing the cradle for sure...although he is miffed because he is starting to get grey/white hairs in his beard and on the nape.
he just left for work...after a good five minutes of good bye hugs and kisses and making sure I was okay (bad pain and allergy attacks today) such a good man...

Paidia, mine used to keep his beard a lot longer then he does now. When he turned 60 he had me trim it up alot and has kept it shorter since. It does make him look younger. Although for his age he sure doesn't have many wrinkles has smmoth skin, looks wonderful for an old man. He is always telling me he is ancheint and was a cave man so its OK for me to call him old. and to you young ones he is old, funny how our perception of old changes as we get older.

What was funny was when my maid of honor, who is my best friend for 43 years now, made her toast at our wedding. She began with, "I literally met Deanna on the street in, I believe, 1964. I took her home with me for dinner and she never left!"
Everyone cracked up because my groom was born in 1966!

He is also going to stop by the bank to get me 20 dollars to spoil myself with when he is gone (you have to know is is ultra-conservative with money...he doesn't like to spend frivioulsly at all but does believe in saving wisely, buying well when he does choose to invest...i can't complain..I have a top-of-the-line, high effieceny washer and dryer in my kitchen...the kind on drawers so I don't have to bend to change laundry and hurt my back..). He is so sweet! he also told me to remind him to give me a body rub when he gets home as a thank you for packing for him...which took me like...12 minutes...then he finished by saying that he really appreciated me and thanks again for the tasty lunch I sent with him (organic blue shell tacos with spicy turkey and sausage, peppers and cheese - left overs from last night). how cool is that? I mean really...he thanks me for left overs...

My mate is wonderful because when he met me I was dating some other guy and I didnt think of him that way. He was my friend and I even asked him for advice when my relationship was in the toilet, the advice was wonderful a worked for a while, he could have told me things to break us up and just tell me to dump the "guy" and go out with him. You have to understand that Alan is the most patient person most of the time. He knew that one day we would be together. He went off to school and I broke up with whats his name. I caught up with his mom who gave me his address and phone number, we went on a date and have been together ever since that was 1997. I found out later that he would come to the place I worked ,Chik fil A just to see me. I remember he ordered the same thing EVERY time. Chicken salad sandwich and a large Dr. Pepper. He only came to Chik fil A if I worked.
Now to the real reason he is so wonderful. My mother is crazy, literally. She had ways of controlling me for my whole life with the things she said and acted. WAY to much to put in here and you dont want me boring you with all of it anyway. My mother kicked me out on my 18th birthday over a stupid misunderstanding and for the next 2 days went totally nuts. I mean nuts, calling the police and telling them that I hit her in the face and broke her glasses blaming Alan for stealing ect... Mom and I had gotten into an altercation and I did hit her to protect my self, but nowhere near her face...( the police didnt believe her anyway, ther was no brusing or anything...) I went to live with his family who treated me more like a real daughter than my own mother did my whold life. Then my mother threw a FIT infront of my 423 other graduates at my high school graduation, literally screaming at me in front of my fellow graduates and their families becuse I hugged Alan's mom first. Alan came and stood beside me and was my rock. He has always been. Anyway, Alan was only 18 years old, he had his whole life ahead of him their was NO reason for him to stay with a 18 year old girl and her psychotic mother. We were married in 2002 and have 3 beautiful children, ask Peggy. Alan, now will come home from teaching and cook and clean, he calls me everyday from work to tell me he loves me and usually tell me not to worry about dinner he will take care of it. He does most of the dishes and laundry if I dont get to it, without complaint. He says he likes to clean because it relaxes him! Can you believe it, realxes him!!!
He is also such a wonderful father! All of his kids adore him, espically our daughter, OMG! He is right not wrestling on the floor with his sons and is having more fun than them. He will come home after a long day at work and tell me go call a friend and go somewhere, he and the kids are going to have fun. I come back a couple of hours later and they are all so exhausted that they are all practically asleep on Alan's lap.
We can sit for hours talking or just sit and stare at each other and we both are the two most happy people in the world.

            Well then Azhrde...

My hetro-life mate, Arwyn, is amazing...she certainly has her flaws, but she has an amazing capacity for love and has litterally been there for me when ever I needed her, without fail.

she once drove 70 miles in the middle of the night with a box of cleenex and a bottle of booze just to pick me up after a fight with my mom (although I was grown at the time, or so I thought, I was 20, I'd never fought with my mom before). We drove to the lake, got drunk, talked all night under the stars...we love each other unconditionally and have survived an awful lot of crap and miracules together...she is amazing....and i'm blessed to have her.

My guy is amazing because he puts up with all my bullsh*t, gives me anything I want plus some, has a great sense of humor and makes me laugh, can impersonate many different voices and that makes me laugh too, has incredible patience and endurance, works hard to provide wonderful things for everyone, loves his kids, loves me, eats anything I put in front of him with NEVER a complaint, puts up with my dogs, gives me beautiful jewelry even though I never ask for it, is wonderful with my son, never loses his temper, even when I lose mine and ..well there's more, but after writing this, I think I'll go hang out with him. Today we spent the entire afternoon and most of the evening at the home of some friends hanging drywall as they prepare to sell their house.
Sooner or later, the discussion turned to religion. It wasn't heated or uncomfortable, but we weren't getting things done as fast as we could have while everyone debated certain points. Eventually, in an attempt to change the subject, Jackal said, "So. How 'bout that Tribe?" (Nickname of the Cleveland Indians) At the EXACT same time, I said, "So. How 'bout those Indians?" It was kinda weird in a sweet, we-know-each-other-so-well way.

When I first met my husband I felt the need, for some odd reason, to tell him that I love folded potato chips. Now, I told you that to to set up this story. Years ago we had some friends go through a divorce about 6 months after they married. It was emotionally draining for us. One day Jackal said he had a confession to make and my blood ran cold. He turned to me and said, "I love folded chips, too. I've just always given them to you when I find them because you like them so much.
Last night we had grilled ham and cheese sandwiches and chips for dinner. While I was at the stove grilling the sandwiches, my husband was setting up the plates. Since I had my back to him, I didn't realize that he was also picking through the bag and putting all the folded ones on my plate.
I gotta tell ya...it means more to me than a dozen roses that he remembers little things like folded potato chips.

                        Awwww....

When my guy and I first started dating I told him one night how my ex would always bring me roses (which I don't like) and chocolate (which i'm picky about and he bought russel stovers, which I think is nasty) whenever he thought he'd done something wrong...or thought I thought he had...I mentioned how my favorite flowers were the kind I could cook with, specifically saffron, which is expensive.

For Mother's day that year, my first on my own since the divorce, my man gave me a set of tupperware and a bottle of saffron, all wrapped up in a red ribbon.

It was sooooo sweet because he was sooo unsure...

                        such good mates we have....

I have no complaints about my man. A couple of years ago he talked me into buying this old house. He was going to resheetrock it wire new windows, roof and siding and wala a nice little house that iss all mine. well hindsight that isn't what happened. This old house is now the major money pit. It didn't have a crawel space so we couldn't get underneith and see what was going on there. Turned out termites had enjoyed years of eatting around it there for we have jacked up all the floors put down new floor seals, not new floors down stairs and up the old a
