How to mark items as TAKEN?

topic posted Tue, February 20, 2007 - 1:22 PM by  bunny
How to we mark items as TAKEN / SOLD / NO LONGER AVAILABLE (whichever the case should be) ??

I can delete the entire thread once it it marked as taken, however, an offer of one item sometimes brings up other goods / items that could have been on the table for trade / sale. Deleting the topic because the main item was taken would mean this secondary items would be lost.

Deleting threads of taken items would not give a history of trades that have taken place - and it would appear that there is no activity in this tribe at all. That wouldn't encourage new members to join us at the trade tables.

Deleting the first posting of a thread removes the offer of the original item, but leaves all the follow up postings. It looks wierd and is somewhat confusing. I tried this method on my Welcome to the Belly Dancers comment - it doesn't work and I will remove that entire thread now.

For now, I'll ask that the original poster make a comment that thier specific item has been taken. Hopefully... no addtional comments will be made on that particular thread and we can start building a history of our successful trades!

I wish I had the ability to change the title of a posted thread - as it would be the easiest way to clearly mark a thread as closed. I'll check with the Tribe folks on this possibility.

Maybe start another thread to list the item as taken. Like, if you offered yarn mthe title of the next thread should be Yarn TAKEN. then anything else the person wants to say.

Can't you, as moderator, edit a thread's headline? Or can the originator of the thread?

I don't moderate a tribe but I have tried editting a thread headline originated by me... to fix a typo. Could not find a way of doing so. It is my understanding that the tribe monitor has several 'controls' that can be set at various values though. I could also be totally wrong about this though :-)

I just traded some yarn on here, and I didn't want to delete the thread (though I did delete the picture) until both me and the other girl got our stuff and were satisfied. I just made a reply on the thread that said 'taken'.

The in-thread responce makes the most sence to me. Otherwise there's too much disconnect. Also, would deleting any photos be a "tell"?

Well, you can edit a photo description, but you can't edit a thread header. I checked in the tribe I moderate. Thread-ender post or removal are the only options.

I know, what I was saying is that once the itme in the photo is taken, the photo can be removed by the poster.
          It was just a thought

I think we are going to have to rely on the original poster to make a comment that the item has been TAKEN - and remove any photos associated with the item. Thanks all!

Is this is final word then K Bunny?
I just sold the bells... so far, I only listed it as SOLD on the pic. I'll remove it if that's preferred.

I like to look at pictures--- even if the things are gone... kinda gives a reference of the tribe's activity - and the going price for things. And gives people a way to say--- does anyone have this?... (then show pic)
              Just my two sense! :-)

Whatever works for you is fine with me though!
