Ok, I'm at a dilemma here. I have a set of antlers, joined by a piece of skull, and I want to make a headdress out of them for ritual. The problem is finding any info on how to do such a thing. I've found all sorts of other weird things (thank you google) but not intstructions on how to create my desire. Maybe I'm just having a huge brain fart, who knows. Any helpful ideas would be greatly appreciated. I know you are all quite the creative group when it comes to these types of things. Peace!

Re: Shaman type antler head dress
Sat, March 8, 2008 - 5:00 AMit needs a solid base to be mounted on so it stays on top. And enough balance/ strapping to stay put.
So you could inclose that base in a papier mache head- base and work from there. Then glue fabric on top of that for masking. Depending how big/stable it is, ya need to add a chin strap.
If you want it all organic, then you could felt a base. Or incase the horn base between two sturdy pieces of fabric and sow very tight.
But the papier mache would be my favourite option.
Have fun.
