Hey everyone. I know many of you have already left for the BURN and all, but I know some of you are still here SoCal. I am putting together 150 Do Something Kits that will be passed out on September 8th for Do Something Saturday to homeless people. If you would like to help me with this effort please get in touch with me. Here is the list of Do Something Kits. The best place to get the items is from the 99 cent store or the 99 cent area of all Target stores.
If you drop your items off to the center, please make sure you tell them the donation is for Kengi and the Leon and Mary Fields Foundation for Do Something Saturday.
Or call me direct to set up a time to drop the items off. 310 428 8231
DO SOMETHING SATURDAY ~ that empowers people with LMU
Saturday, September 8th from 11:00AM ~ 3:00PM
Vera Davis McClendon Community Center
610 California Avenue, Venice 90291
Also I have also started my 30 Days outreach project to homeless people. Please check my blog to keep up.
Our mission is to restore dignity, self respect, pride and the ability to at least try to live the American Dream. Connection without bureaucracy. We believe that empowering people with useful services and human necessities is one way to make lasting changes in our community.
Do Something Saturday ~ that empowers people is one of the many ways the foundation try to assist homeless people in the Los Angeles Area. Through this program the foundation provides meals, clean clothes, sleeping bags and other items such as our Do Something Kits that are distributed daily from Sunset and PCH down the coast along the beach to the Venice Beach Pier.
Do Something Kit supplies include:
• New pairs of socks
• Granola, power, protein or cliff bars
• bar soap or body wash
• hand or face towels
• tooth brushes and tooth paste
• mouth wash
• deodorant
• bottle water
• beanies (hats)
• shampoo and conditioner
• hand lotion
• large zip lock bags
(all items should be travel size so they can fit into the large zip lock bag)
Your continued donations of these items provide homeless people in the Los Angeles Area the opportunity to keep themselves clean and groomed. It has been our experience that this greatly contributes to the likelihood of someone getting a job and become self-sufficient.
Please bring or send all donations to our street address shown below, or contact Kengi for arrangements by telephone (310) 428-8231 or email: kengikat@gmail.com . We invite you to bring your donated items in person and aid with preparation and distribution of these kits as well!
