I was down in the Bishop Arts District recently, and found out about their monthly gallery nights. Apparently, on the first Thursday of each month, all of the shops stay open late and spill out into the streets in a sort of business-sponsored block party. From what I heard, the fun starts around 6 or 7pm and runs until around 10 or 11 at night.
If you haven't been down there, Bishop is a revitalized chunk of Oak Cliff which features impressive art galleries, tasty restaurants and little boutiques of all types. The people, both patrons and vendors, seem friendly and creatively-minded.
I thought it might be fun to take a group of roaming performers down to "First Thursday" at some point, in an informal manner similar to the meet up we had at Scarborough Faire. We could wander around, grab some dinner and make an entertaining nuisance* of ourselves.
It also seemed like a great way for Creative Motion to promote themselves with flyer handouts for upcoming SpinFests, so I figured I'd chuck the idea to the group.
Thoughts?
*From the general layout of the area, fire would most likely be off limits (historic buildings and fire make poor bedfellows). but I suspect, based on reactions to my wandering about with my spheres, that glowing toys would be more than welcomed.

Wed, June 4, 2008 - 4:09 PM...meaning if a few people want to print and chop they will have access. I just hope we don't suffer from a case of the "I thought he/she was going to do it...." blues -

Mon, June 9, 2008 - 9:45 AMReplying to myself, on behalf of the event:
We should nail out the details of where/when and get them posted formally as a Tribe event ASAP.
I'm thinking 6pm, meet at some obvious landmark (in front of Nodding Dog Coffee since they have a nice median to play on?)
Gypsy, can you contact me so we can write up a proper event description?

Re: First Thursdays in the Bishop Arts District?
Thu, July 3, 2008 - 12:55 AMI'm not quite sure if I'll be there. It all depends on how work goes, as I'm trying to save a lil bit o' the green for my trip on Friday.
Also, I won't be off work til 8pm at the earliest, so time will be a factor as well.
