I love snails. They are so adorable. The thought of putting poison out in the garden to kill such seemingly harmless and peaceful critters makes my skin crawl. Every once in a while I step on one when it's dark and crush it's little shell. It makes me sad. My dog sometimes eats them.

Thu, March 9, 2006 - 8:39 AMThe irony of Tribe is that the ads that show up on this thread are Sluggo snail killer and pest control stuff. -

Thu, March 9, 2006 - 8:19 PMWell, at least Sluggo doesn't hurt the other pets like other "pestz" controls

Re: Snails
Fri, March 10, 2006 - 8:06 AMOh, I hate stepping on them, too! If I see them in time, I'll usually move them out of high traffic zones.
When they were eating up my garden, I finally put out bowls of beer. I figure at least they're dying with a good buzz on. They seemed particularly fond of Miller.
If they'd just stick to a few leaves here and there I wouldn't have even put the beer out, but they would always chew through the stems and kill the newer plants.

no, sorry. I have to draw the line at the gnawing off of the genitals.
It does make me think, though. Maybe some of my past relationships weren't so bad after all. -

Re: Snails
Fri, March 10, 2006 - 9:12 PMWe had a snail for a while. We found him crawling across our kitchen in Seattle. We put him in a potted houseplant that was too waxy for him/her to eat. We fed him lettuce and misted him with water. We had him for almost a year but he did not survive the move to Tucson. They are very amazing animals.
I have always wanted one of these

But they are extremely illegal and for good reason. If one of these got loose in Florida, it would make Kudzu look like dandelions. -
