My name is Patrick Young, school teacher activist and bus driver/mechanic. I have better buses than any dealer, and you will never buy "as-is" "where is" from me. the phrase implicitly states that once it leaves your driveway, you are on your own. Most people do not know how to work on buses,, many folks also send their cars to a mechanic because cars are getting pretty complicated, or they don't have the tools.
I am the opposite. I have been driving and working on motorbikes and little race cars and cars and motorcycles and trucks and buses and forklifts and generators....I collect stuff and send it to Nicaragua, El Salvador Chiapas or lately Haiti. I’ll be 50 soon, and I guess I’ve accumulated a lot of knowledge by doin. I’ve been working on buses pretty steady since 1991, when I got my first Crown. But I’ve also owned a bunch of light trucks too.
So I ended up being pretty much a bus expert by accident. I've owned 50 buses, must have sold at least 40 , and I buy and sell buses for use or parts all the time, it is sot of like a small business now, but I just use the proceeds to fund my aid work in the countries I mentioned before. I teach high school and that pays the bills.
I have sent three buses to Nicaragua, one to Haiti, and also transported bus loads into Chiapas MX but we couldn’t leave the bus so I had to drive back to Fresno.
So, I'll be brief. If you get a bus from me, you cannot be cheated. I will inspect it, I've probably already driven it several hundred miles, you can come and drive it, not for 3 minutes but for 30 or 40 miles until you are SURE it’s not gong to overheat, good oil pressure, no leaks, ………there are lots of fine details to getting a good vehicle.
So call me if you want a bus. Humbly, I'm the best at this as far as I know. I don’t have any overhead except for my tools and my pickup. the money you will spend just go to anther progressive group. We have sent at least 100,000 lbs of aid to Latin America and Haiti, and it was Real Aid, not used clothing, people's cast offs or obsolete and broken machinery.
So I can always sell buses or bus parts inexpensively. Any problem you have in 6 months or 6 years, call me and we’ll fix it. A Crown or Gillig bus does NOT have a finite lifetime. The parts can be replaced indefinitely, because all the important stuff is just off the shelf items made by Cummins, Caterpillar, Rockwell, etc And Odds are I will have one anyway in my shed / backyard/ bus storage central.
Buses are not very complicated, they are just like a good old Ford truck from the 60’s, simple as a rock.
You can get a bus from me and never ever worry about what to do in an emergency, or where to get a part for a 30 years old bus. I probably get two calls a day from somebody who wants to talk diesel, and my phone is available for anytime for a roadside problems. It‘s no big deal, I like helping people and it makes me feel smart anyway, so I get a few free endorphins, and then make them promise to buy me a beer later,….it‘s a win‘win situation.
Finally, so far I've dismantled 14 buses and have about 5 more to go. I know a lot about their insides, a Lot.)). I also dismantle my non running pickups, fire trucks, trail bikes, etc.,……you learn a LOT, but also because I’m cheap, and always buy the same model of vehicle over and over so I never want for parts.
have a good one
