Tamara,
My wife and I have been wanting to live off the grid for 2 yers now. We bought 21/2 acres in Williams, AZ about 178 miles from you. We are now living in Safford, AZ. My wife has been wanting to live on the land, but having community really appeals to me, and I am a bit of a pacifist. Your community sounds very appealing. We have a 31ft motorhome (older), but evrything works with a little repair. I am currently renting it out. My wife is on SSI, so we have a small amount of money coming in steady. I drove a tractor-trailer but lost my CDL's. I am currently attending the University of Phoenix working on a Psyche degree. I will also be getting a permanent partial disability awarded soon for some more bucks. I am not lazy when it comes to work and would be available for any kind of work full time. My wife is currently disabled, but should be well enough to walk in a few months. She is Christian and loves animals, crafts, and the land. We have workamped much and we are no strangers to living off the grid. My last gig was at the Grand Canyon were we lived in the Park and I worked for the Park fueling tour busses. I want to talk to my wife in depth as soon as she gets out of the hospital. I am very interested in joining your community and can contribute both finacially and with work. I find it rare when someone is willing enough to give of themselves as you appear to be, and you sound like my kind of people, as my wife and I are the same.
Sincerely;
Keith

I been here for almost four years now and have found living off the grid to be the way to go with the way things seem to be headed in the bigger towns/cities. Here we are different from a lot of tribes or IC's as we don't ask for a lot just for people who love Mother Earth and want to live with her and not against her like so many do in the world today. To me living here so close to Mother Earth is great as I love just knowing that I have peace and quite all the time when I am home. I would welcome you both to come out and see if this is a place that calls to your spirit as it did mine.
Have a great week

Re: Us too
Fri, May 22, 2009 - 2:39 PMThank you Tamara. My wife comes home today. I have spoke to her and she wants to know more. Were living in Public housing on a fixed income and everything here in Safford just keeps going up with the job opportunities non-existant. Like I said, sounds appealing. Will keep
in touch. Just as soon as we can fix our old beater van we plan on coming by as we have to check on our land up by you anyway. Its been almost 2 yrs since I checked my land. I had people cutting down my scrub pine for firewood. Hope I still have trees. -

Glad to hear she is coming home. If you said someone could cut scrub I hope that is all they did as some of the ones who cut wood to sell here try to cut anywhere they can. I ask a blessing on your land that it is not harm.
I know about fixing up old beaters as I have been working on a 1966 CJ 5 and now on a 1972 ford 3/4 ton van. The jeep is for the land where we can get in and out when it rains as it is doing now and the Van is to pull the tractor with.
Id you keep a eye out on craigslist in your area or close by you might find a travel trailer cheep to live on your land or out here.
Have a great week
