Hello All!
As we watch the CD slowly approach extinction, we are reminded of what music was before it became plastic discs in plastic boxes. Before it became copied, recorded or written. Before it became a product to sell. Music, in all its formless forms, is an experience. Created, shared, often danced to or prayed along with; whether you’re making it or hearing it, when it’s over, it’s gone--just a memory. It many parts of the world, music is still communal and utilitarian. Intimately woven into daily life.
Rhythm is hard-wired into us. It’s part of what makes us human. Drumming is our primal instinct. It helps connect us with ourselves, our surroundings, and with others, regardless of status, ideas, or appearance.
Hope you can join us for these community drumming events:
Friday, January 25th at 7:30pm. Unitarian Society of New Haven 700 Hartford Turnpike in Hamden.
Friday, February 1st at 7:30pm. Sitka Wellness Center 64 Cherry Street in Milford.
Aloha—
Mark Z
