Yeah, I have bought that stuff in three different shades and it has never produced satisfactory results. It either has no effect at all, or it makes the beard much darker than it was originally.

What I've been having more success with is permanent hair dye - one shade lighter than the original colour. Over here in Oz the colour range I use is called Koleston Perfect by Wella (brand). It has to be mixed with Creme Developer to activate the colour and make it react with your hair.
