Cumbus from the Edge 2

This is a little better light i think.
This had a broken L Bracket, a dented can, and rusty tuners.
I also had to re-drill the screw holes in the neck where it attatches to the bracket.
The existing holes were setting the neck at too extreme an angle.
And i got a new bridge.....Yeah!

Hey Sun, nice explanation. I see the bridge is really closer to the neck than usual, isn't it?. I wish I could purchase a new bridge and neck...I just have some ideas!

I have mine a bit closer to the neck now, not that close, but certainly closer,
It makes the sound more like the cumbus i hear on records, certainly more pluckier, I really like the sound this way. BUT, the scale length is now shorter, and when its back where you'd usually have it, the scale length is no diferent than an oud.

Please Paddy explain the last phrase, it sounds interesting!. My cumbus' scale length is closer to that of a guitar...

Thanks man.

Raul, it's like you care more about the setup of your instrument rather than playing it!

I just found that if the bridge is closer to the centre of the whole head, like, forward a little bit more, the sound is "pluckier" more banjoey, less oud-like, but then it doen'st have the same scale length.

Check your bridge placement, it is usually much closer to the tailpiece!
