Hi I've been playing oud for a while and I got me a second hand cumbus. First thing I did is take off the old rusty strings and put on a new set. Now the problem is that there is one pair (the second highest sounding pair) that sounds significantly less loud than the rest. What could be the problem, and what could I try to solve this?

Re: Please help with volume balance between strings
Thu, September 10, 2009 - 9:25 AMWeird. Is there any damage or excessive wear to the nut or to the bridge? Does that string course buzz against the neck when you play it? That's about all I can think of that would cause that kind of problem. Just out of curiosity, what tuning are you using (low pitch to high pitch)? Hmmmm ... -

Re: Please help with volume balance between strings
Mon, September 14, 2009 - 1:25 AMIt is tuned: G-C-D-G-C-F
Strangely enough the volume balance between all strings seems to be alright when I pluck the open strings, but only when I "fret" the C string it seems to be much lower volume than the rest -
