Who's going? I know I am!
This is a great group of people putting on a fundraiser to raise money for breast cancer awareness. For me, every woman on my father's side of the family has had this disease, and I run a really good chance of getting it. I've had a couple of scares out there, but luckily it was just fibrocystic disease and not cancer, but every single mammogram is a nail biter for me, and I always have to go and have a sonogram afterwards because they think they see something.
People need to be aware of this and checking constantly for signs of it. I have a cousin who hadn't been to a gynocologist in 30 years, she started getting strange cramps, so she finally went and saw someone, and she had cancer to an extreme, she lived for 6 more months, and those were filled with surgeries and chemo and radiation... She was completely unaware of the need to see a gyno yearly, she lived deep in the heart of the Appalachian mountains and it was just something they didn't talk about. Yes, I'm showing my heritage here.. LOL....
But don't let this happen to anyone you know, least of all to you... lets all do our part to support the fight against cancer... I for one want to be a dancing queen well into my eighties, with a braid down my back, and a shimmy that makes people smile!!
The event is listed in the events section of this tribe, hope to see you there!

Re: B4B Fundraising Hafla in Fredricksburg, next sunday, March 16th
Thu, March 6, 2008 - 9:07 PMI'll be there, and I'm teaching a basic-beginner doumbek class at the beginning of the hafla ($5 donation to the B4B cause suggested, but not required).
And, I heard a rumor that I'll get to drum for one of my favorite dancers during the hafla!!
So, dancers, bring a friend or three that might be interested in learning to drum for you. If someone needs a drum to borrow please let me know and I'll work on getting a loaner for the hafla.
Hope to see lots of you there! -
