biodynamic calendar online?

topic posted Tue, April 4, 2006 - 11:46 AM by  Capt Salamander
First off I am surprised there isn't a biodynamic tribe. Second, I was wondering if there is a free online biodynamic calendar for determining when it is best to plant trees/shrubs, etc... Thanks. Capt Salamander

I ordered a bunch of B-D Calendars, "Stella Natura", to sell at a show this last weekend and have quite a few left. I would be most interested to do a barter or some such thing, should it interest you to do so.

There are some great articles this year, going along with the theme of Perceiving Etheric Energies.

And for anyone else with interest, please send a message my way.

i find the stella natura calendar an invaluable resource not only for the astronomical information for working with cosmic rhythms for one's horticulture endeavours but also for the articles "inspired by the foundational concepts of biodynamics and anthroposophy" and i save each year's calendar to read these articles again. A real bonus with the calendar is the inspiring wood block art that accompanies many of the articles. as well, the "virtue of the month" offers great insight and the price for the calendar should be easily manageable for most people's budgets. peace

Sweet! I am on the search for a biodynamic calendar. I've seen one from Stella Natura fron 2006 and was really inspired. I don't know what you're looking for barter. I would like to help you clear your space of clutter. :)

the stella natura have proven to be kinda hokey at best
talk to any of the most influential bd farmers and I'll bet you find most don't use the calendars
but a calendar like the stella is useful for organizing your gardening activities so that there is balance between all activities, they are all equally important
the best time to plant trees is in the fall before it gets cold or in the spring after the frost, pick a time that feels right and go for it the tree will thank you

ummm...actually if you don't plant by the calendar you can't really call yourself biodynamic..i'm pretty sure...that is the whole thing -- planting by the moon and astronomical (not astro-logical) influences. Anyone can get BD preps but to use the cycles and becoming in tune with your plants through time --

for the first time we are trying out the Stella Natura in our permie garden which we have previously just planted willy nilly, and had good success -- but everything we planted I mean everything came up this year. I have previously thought myself to have a bit of a black thumb -- but not this year. Last year i planted carrots 4 times. FOUR! and never got one to germinate. my arugula was so spotty, my mizuna also bunk. This year the best ever arugula
kohlrabi, and broccoli -- i actually had to thin. The whole house is using the calendar and charting and our success is astronomical.

get the calendar and try it out.

what I should have said is most of the wise farmers don't use the stella, usually they use an ephemeris and come to their own conclusions based on moon phase and placement, the maria thun/stella calendar also was proven to be pretty useless during a 13 year german study
I used for a few years back in 90's and came to the same conclusion as many many others, just be careful what you hear from the demeter organization.. they are still stuck in 1924
by all means play with it if you want, I offer a warning is all, one can figure out what's what by germinating a few seeds every day of a fast crop (from consistent heirloom seed) like radishes and then studying the results
a friend of mine is planting by the traditional qui'che mayan calendar with some good results
the calendar lnk I cited above is pretty good and easy to use, there is another good one from australia I hear
