While I have my "What would you want in a sex doll/robot?" emerging survey posted at other groups on Tribe and elsewhere, I'd like to pose an interesting, derivative but related topic on this particular Tribe group. Sex (with devices, i.e., teledildonics) online is already here, and sex with robots will be coming (...sorry :-)> within our lifetime, but, the question is, is it or will it be allowed to be legal?
We already have laws in Texas that make possesion of more than 5 (is it?) dildos illegal because it presumes intent to sell. And I'm sure there's similar silly and "blue-law"-based ones in other jurisdictions. The several questions remaining that I'll pose to this group and especially to the "legal eagles" among you are the following:
1.) What are the existing statues that regulate and/or prohibit modern technology (i.e., on-line and robot) "device sex"? Citations would be appreciated if you have them. Are there any such in the works now?
2.) What might be the legal lines of thinking of legislators in the formation of such laws? What would they be protecting against? What mechanisim(s) would be relied upon fo detection and enforcement? As an aside, back in the 80's when robots were getting more prominant in industry, there was some talk of introducing legislation aimed at robotic safety issues like barriers, and not forcing human worker production to be paced by robotic workstations. Did any of these come to pass? And, if so, is it possible for them to be employed in the "fight" against online and robotic sex?
3.) Are there now any such cases working through the courts or any pending?
Perhaps a tad esoteric, but this is an interesting topic to kick around. And I think it'll have "real" dimensions soon.
