...feminine protection products (tampons, pads)? Men or women? Both? It's hard to imagine their brainstorming meetings.

Wed, May 7, 2008 - 10:20 AM"Modess Feminine Napkins" one of the first Menstrual Products introduced in 1943 that used a folded paper disposable napkin that attached to a garter-like stretch belt with clips was designed by a Man.
The "Flushable" version was introduced in 1947,now one could just "flush that nasty thing" down the Toilet!. -

Re: Who designs....
Wed, May 7, 2008 - 11:44 AMI saw the cutest video clip once, where some mom's little boys had put "airplane stickers" all over the bathroom walls. At least mom was amused. There was another recent vidoe clip of little boys playing with tampons, insisting they were dynamite. -

Re: Who designs....
Thu, May 8, 2008 - 1:22 PMI've heard that most of them are designed by men. There is one, I forget the name, that is designed by women, and because of that it is supposed to fit better. It's the one that has no applicator. -

Re: Who designs....
Thu, May 8, 2008 - 2:07 PMThis is probably more for TMI tribe, but I swear, the first time I tried to use a pad (I was only 11), I put it sticky side up. That made sense in theory, but not in practice. In high school, I once spent two frustrating hours in the bathroom trying to get a tampon in side of me. It just didn't work, either because I didn't understand the principle, or because I was just too small in there.

Re: Who designs....
Thu, May 8, 2008 - 2:25 PMThat'd be OB. Honestly, I think it is a bit of a travesty that men design these things, although I suppose men can design them, with input, but not test them. I wish that men could have the ability to deal with some of these things sometimes. -

Re: Who designs....
Thu, May 8, 2008 - 2:46 PMThat's kind of why I asked the question. Now, certainly, there are a lot more nicer products out there, almost too many to choose from, but I can remember when it wasn't so. I also remember as a kid, having to use my Mom's brand of pads was very uncomfortable. Now they make slimmer ones, longer ones, shorter ones, winged ones, ones that change colors when their "full", ones that emit flowery scents, but back then, there was only one width, which felt like hold a log between my legs. -

Re: Who designs....
Thu, May 8, 2008 - 2:52 PMyeh, I think I must've spent what felt like a couple hours trying to get that first one in too! My mom and sister used the bulky pads, but a friend had invited me to go to a gymnastics class with her and there was just no way in hell I was going to wear a tight li'l leotard and have some bulky woman sized pad causing unsightly lumps and bumps while I did cartwheels!!!

Fri, May 9, 2008 - 5:25 AMThere is one company (I think it is always) that puts cute little sayings on the paper that adheres to the sticky part. One of the read "Have a nice period" - YEAH RIGHT!!!!

Re: Who designs....
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 6:36 AMBut, the psrt that sucks the most is this....men, starting around the time that they are boys watching TV, get the impression burned into their minds for life that we leak all the damned time, scratch our crotches a lot, and stink. Thank God for advertising. -

Re: Who designs....
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 6:16 PMNot only that, when I was a teenager one of my male friends who I fooled around with once thought girls got pleasure by having one inside themselves. Only a man (or boy) would think of that. -

Re: Who designs....
Sat, May 10, 2008 - 7:47 PMA quality designed conical Vibrator can feel wonderful up a nice tight hole..BUT.. I much prefer the REAL thing "Up there"!
Of course it's a sad state of affairs if your straight and your GF or Wife informs you that the Vibrator you gave her for Secratarie's Day feels better than when "your in there"!
