Were your values ever compromised by having to do things that went against your personal code of morals in order to make it through hard times? If so, what?

I go to work to make money to purchase the necessary things. Much of what is necessary is a no-brainer: food, shelter, clothing, gas, other bare bones bills, etc. But... truly, when I read this question... the first thing that came to mind was: Yes, I have done things that went against my better judgment and morals I guess you could say... but I have also convinced myself that some things were "necessities" and therefore would rationalize my actions or inactions in order to keep them. (And I'm not just talking about stuff you can buy in a store.) Not my smartest moves, I must say.

I used to be a hustler / prostitute and deal drugs. And when I was young I used to steal ALOT of candy bars. And just for the record I dont necessarily think any of these things are really all that wrong. The only thing I do out of necessity is lie to some people because if telling them the truth would make me lose my job obviously I dont want to lose my job. And when I say TRUTH, that entails / encompasses a wide range of "issues." I need a magazine rack. ISSUES ISSUES ISSUES!!! Can someone puhleez help me carry my baggage?
