Why does it make so many people have to poo so quickly? I ASSume it's because I dont eat those spices very often. So my body's not used to it. I love Indian food. But half the time I need to go asap afterward. Wot up wit dat? : ( Maybe I should take an Immodium an hour before going. lol I swear I just thought of that. I could show off to all my friends. Go dancing. "Look at me. I don't have to poo. Woo hoo!!!" : )

One of my favorite dishes in the world is Palak Paneer, but lets be honest it goes in looking a whole lot like poo. So it stands to reason that it wouldnt take long for it to come out looking the same

Huh! I've NEVER experienced that in over 40 year of eating Indian food in restaurant or from Indian roommates' food when i lived in Santa Cruz---and I've never been constipated, so it's not that!

Maybe you guys re eating too much southern Indian food, which DOES have a lot of spices that agitate an even irritate the lower tract. I prefer northern Indian and Nepalese dishes, which tend to be milder....

Will you are in perfect health dude. I'm an alcoholic. : )

Kerra I can still be that way with other foods too sometime. But I used to have a big problem for about 17 years. About 7 1/2 years ago when I went through my heart stuff I brought up my stomach issues. They took a stool sample and discovered I had intestinal parasite. I forget what it's called. But a two week prescription knocked it out. And to think I lived so long with a problem that prevented me from going to shows and doing a lot of things. I'd go to thanksgiving dinner at a friends and not be halfway done eating and have to go. Everyone would be like "There goes Marvin again." lol Someone I know had the same problem and I told her about my parasite and how it was taken care of. She got checked and had the same thing. Apparently it's very common. Supposedly 84% of us have some kind of worms, parasites or other infestations growing and living in our bodies. SO GROSS!!! lol

Pass the nan please. : )

I love Indian food. Some of it is greasy tho, and that tends to go right thru me in the manner you describe. Have you tried sweet lahssi? A little yogurt drink might help.

I've never been a fan of indian food. It seems when I eat it, I always end up tasting some minty thing, some cumin-y thing, and/or something with no taste at all. Then there's that wet rice crispie salad thing *shudder*

      You're doing it wrong.

Try a couple of veggie samosas and beer. Dip the samosas in the tamarind sauce, the dark red one, not the minty green one. Better than any chips and salsa or chips and dip with beer. You'll also probably be pretty full and can skip the rest of the meal.

Or stick with tandoori chicken or plain chicken tikka (not tikka masala). For wetter foods stick with curries. If it's too hot, cool your palate with naan dipped in raita. And stay away from veggie dishes unless you get a taste for them

I eat Indian food often. I've never noticed anything different with how quickly I need the toilet afterwards.

I lived in India as a young woman, and didn't like Indian food at first. It seemed too spicy until I became accustomed to it. I worked for an ashram and was given meals for free, Indian meals. At first I paid for food elsewhere, because of my dislike for Indian cooking, but eventually the free meals became my norm there.

Ever since then, when living in America, Indian food has been my favorite. I eat it often and haven't noticed anything different with digesting it than the other vegetarian and vegan food I eat.

I agree with an earlier poster that many Indian dishes are too greasy, though. If I eat Indian meals from a restaurant often, I think it contributes to my slight weight problem.

I love Indian food, I do notice that if I eat it a few times in a week I have to sing the Johnny Cash song... My ass burns like a flamin ring of fire.. Well at least that is what makes it funny to be in such discomfort.

I love chicken rice biryani and butter chicken and coconut curry lamb... My favorite is more North Indian or Nepalese because of the creamy sauces and rich flavors more than the spicy spicy which I can't tolerate well.
