"Private" Backyards

I had "nosey peeping neighbors" who couldn't keep their eyes off my swimming pool and on their side of our 6 ft privacy fence(I wrote a Blog about it on here).
I had to design a "privacy screen" to cover the fence and along the top of it just to get the privacy and respect I deserve in MY backyard from my VERY RUDE so-called "Neighbors"! Now my backyard is a "Nudist Oasis".
What's your backyard like, and is it private or not?

I could care less about my neighbors....we do have an above ground pool that we often "dip" in but with kids at home we leave suits on the ladder and change into after our "romps"...we prefer the dark of night by the light of the moon "dip"....LOL
it is semi private on 2 sides by bushes but the last side we are gonna install chain link and weave in strips to make it more "private"...

on one side in the back i have some big bushes that seperates us from the neighbors we talk to. the other side is an old woman who has lived here 40+ years, when she saw my SO in his utilikilt she confronted my landlord on why he was wearing a "skirt" but never asked us about it. wish there was more privacy on that side. speaking of the kilt and neighbors- we have ppl across the street a few doors down who always eyeball everyone. one day mark had his kilt on and stood on the bannister to check our birds nest and i could see @ least 6 ppl hangin off the porch looking so as i walked by him i stuck my hand up for a little touch-i had the urge to just stick my head up the kilt but didnt feel like dealin w police.

i could vacation in your yard jake:) enjoy the oasis

I'm on 20 acres of forested Ozark front and back with no one minding my business. I have been known to "streak" to the mailbox 600 feet away and not ruin anybody's morning.

there is no such thing as a "private" backyard in my neighborhood in SF. I share a patio with the 5 other apartments in the building. I used to try to sunbathe (with bathing suit) out there, but sometimes the guy upstairs would start talkiing to me from his second story window. Eventually I took myself to a crowded public park instead because there you can't fool yourself into thinking you have any privacy. And there, people wouldn't try to have a conversation with me from their second floor window!

I miss not having such a thing, but I AM really glad to at least have the outdoor space to clean my bikes and hang laundry to dry. I just don't entertain the illusion that there might not be people watching.

heh..I live in Los Angeles where I can hear uncountable hispanic children screaming from all directions at nearly all hours of the day/night.

The adjacent apartment buildings that surround mine (the only artist-loft, non-hispanic building for miles..and yeah my apartment unit is the size of a thimbal..gee thanks) are very very close

ironically the neighborhood I live in is called "koreatown". Folks here in LA - of every race & social class, not just one - breed like fucking crazy.

I dont have a yard. Just a balcony. I dated a guy for the first half of 2008 that has a neighbor that took him to court because he was nude in his hot tub with another man. So it cost him 15K in legal fees and he had to put up three big telephone poles with a big blue tarp so the neighbor can't see the hot tub from their upstairs windows. So fucking lame. And people wonder why some people burn their neighbors houses down while theyre sleeping. ( Rolls eyes ) I'd find a way to get back. Pay some kids to egg their house. Plant poison oak in their yard. Spray weed killer and kill their grass. Spraypaint MURDERER, RAPIST or CHILD MOLESTER on their garage door. Something. lol

Ahh "Apartment Life" did that for 34 years in Boston(UGH!) most of my "Units" were small one bedroom units and half of e'm didn't even HAVE a "Balcony". The nicest apt I had was in Brighton(a "burrough" of Beantown). My unit faced Ringer Park,a 20 acre wooded park. That apt had french doors off the bedroom onto a 5 foot wide by 10 foot long rod iron railed balcony that overlooked thick woods,it was an end unit,so all I had was my lesbian next door(balcony?) neighbor and she was cool,I put up a bamboo curtain/wall bettween the balconies so I could sit naked out on mine and watch all the men cruising in the woods below LOL! Ahh those WERE the Days!
All of my other apartments sucked ass big time! small 700 sq ft "Hovels" that cost MORE in monthly rent than my current monthly mortgage on a 1,800 sq ft all brick house sitting on nearly a half acre!

We have the typically small yard here in England and many upper floor windows look down on our yard, so the high wooden fence doesn't offer al that much privacy. Once I was on the sundeck and dared to take my bathing suit top straps down, not the whole thing as I do in Tenerife- and there was an angry knocking from some unknown window, as if to say hey slut! I suspect the lady next door, who has never liked me.She's one of those who isn't friendly to other females, but is to the male species, she was always quite friendly to Steven. What she doesn't realise is he has always made fun of her and even more so, since she has now married a much older appearing man. If I'm noisy at night he'll tel me "shhhhhhhhhh, her dad might have to go to sleep early"

We had a terrible witch living next to us when we lived in town. She would grow strawberries next to the sidewalk just so she could holler at the children who attempted tp pick them. One Christmas we had a mailed box accidentally delivered to her door, and she didn't tell us until after Christmas. One of the kids went without an intended gift!
We kept devising various revenges to play on this witch, but nothing seemed bad enough. Finally, we decided that the best trick played on her was just being herself and having to look at that in the mirror every day.

My yard is almost completely private, to the point where I have gone out naked or in my pj's.

Only one neighbor could possibly see in, and I rarely see her - maybe once a year I happen to see her.

The neighbors to the back can't see over the fence, but they are so nice: once in a while I'll see a hand waving, and then a bag full of apples or half a dozen eggs from their chickens will be handed over the fence.

The neighbor on the other side has packed his backyard with strange items, like a rusting swing set. It is all covered with ivy, and I don't think anybody could get back there. The fence is too high to see over, and I've never heard anybody back there.

Some friendly advice - don't go poking around in that ivy patch, and if strange rotten smells start up over there call the police.

Our ivy neighbor has a dilapidated RV and van permanently in the driveway that borders on our sideyard, and there is occassionally a really bad smell from that. We were hoping it was a compost pile. If the cats get out, they are attracted to something overthere. So are other neighborhood cats. Hmmm, this is like the beginning of a Stephen King novel...

                    Susie
your situation sounds awful! remeniscent of too many 'Apartments' iv'e rented over the last three decades.
I have a buddy in London England who says everyone there lives in 'Flats' or,basically they are Apartments you purchase( that's called a Condominium here in America) and unfortunatly, all the 'restrictions' that come with rented apartments and purchased Condo's are also present in England's 'Flat rentals and purchases'. He owns his 'London Flat' and has a tiny balcony that overlooks a public 'Courtyard' (zero privacy) and his neighbors are like yours, nosey and always bitching about 'something they don't like about him'.
It's for this reason that many Americans buy Homes instead of owning or renting Condo's,and it's the reason I own a 'House' instead of a 'Unit'(Condo).

Jake, we actually live in a "semi-detached "house, similar to perhaps a duples or condo, attched to another small 2 bedroom house, in a suburban area of a small uinversity town.but yes too many windows overlook the garden and I was surprised the moving my swimsuit straps down did not go unnoticed from prying eyes, since in was on an air mattress, low to the ground on the sun deck(optimistic for England!) with 2 sides having a solid wall and high fence....my charming neighbour , who won't speak to me is always trying to look into my house if she is in the front of hers. How weird, if she was friendly, i'd invite her in for a drink then she could have a real looky-loo!

Seahags are typically old. I forgot. Some may be young and just look old though. Those kind are worse than the old ones. The old ones deserve more respect imo.

Ugh! living so close that your neighbor can see right into your space!
I used to have a Boston Apartment that was across a narrow alley from another building and my windows faced "his" but it was kind of fun becuase he'd "put on a show" for me in his window that was "very erotically entertaining" of course if I could SEE him...so could about 14 other residents on that side of my Apt building LOL! He became known as "the back alley stripper"
Whew! 34 years of renting Apartments...I could write a BOOK about "what Iv'e seen" LOL!

I don't really look out of my back windows so much, but when I do, there is really not alot to see...I was going to say I wished I had a back alley stripper, but then I recalled seeing the rather unattractive bloke standing nude,in full view in his 2nd floor window,on the nearest major road, just off the roundabout near my house on my first outing the day after i arrived here. He had a really stupid weird look on his face, the overall affect was creepy. It would be my luck to get somone like that regularly on show!

Who? I was talking about Susies window wanker. lol I must admit I am guilty of that same crime. I was fairly discreet though. I think it's pretty obscene when gay dudes show know respect or concern that there are people that may not want to see that at all. Like families with children for example. And little old ladies that just want to make it up the steps at their friend Margarets to have tea and chat about little old lady things. Not "Did you know you have a naked man masturbating in a window three doors down?" lol

It was a window wanker in one of my Boston apartments Mr M
and I agree with you,if there are 30 windows facing the window wankers apartment, who knows "who" might be waching the wanker in the window? could be a single mom,an 8 yr old kid,the "gay guy" down the hall or even a cop!
"window wanking" is actually a Felony "Indecent exposure" charge in most States but to "stand naked in a window"(with your penis "flaccid" if your a Man) is not,as long as the naked person isn't masturbating,it's just them being "nude not lewd".

Mine is not private at all, but I do have an area where my fire pit is, next to my vegetable garden. I have an old wooden love seat made out of barn wood sitting under a big blossom bush surrounded by wild flowers.

My yard and plants I've grown give me much pleasure. I'm out there all the time. Wild flowers everywhere, green plants, birds, lovely grass.

MY OASIS - I'm an Earth Element you see.
