WTF do you do when you have the worst fucking back pain EVER!!! Yesterday & today I went to the chiropractor. While it helped me in the past with my neck, this time it seems to be a temporary fix. My only hope now seems to be to just start doing more of the healthy stuff like eating right and stretching and excercising regularly. I'm a fucking wreck yo.

  • get some salonpas medicated tape from the drugstore. . .its in the section with the ben gay and tiger balm. nothing is better than that.

if it is lower back pain lie flat on your back on the bare floor for an hour. . .keep doing that regularly. there are other exercises, but hard to describe online.

if it is upper back, try NOVA remedies Shoulder Arm formula. . .it is awesome. .
    • find out what is causing the pain to occur and take preventive action. i used to have lots of lower back pain until i found out what was causing it and then i redesigned my life and no more lower back pain. .
      • Good advice. Lorenzo. Also be sure you have a good chiro. For really bad pain--like sciatica and other deep pains in other parts of the body, I have had excellent results from chiros, but I know that I have to have intensive work--three times a week or so, for at least two to four weeks from them for such. You can't tell anything much from one treatment or adjustment. If you have one who also does sports chiropractic, that's a plus, and one who know pain management and gives you stretches, icing or warming suggestions, and such to do in between, that's also a real plus.
      • What caused yours L? I'm not sure exactly what causes mine. I think it's a combo of different things. I guess I have to start being ultra conscious about it. Especially if I ever happen to have sex again in my life. I think I have actually hurt my back in the past while having sex. And I worry about hurting it in the future. How the hell to you tell someone to be careful to try not to hurt your back when theyre fucking you? It's just awkward. But I guess awkward is better than the hurt. Bang away but be gentle? lol

And yes. I suppose EVERYTHING does always come back to sex for me. Sorry. I'm a FIRM believer that sex IS life. That a sexless life is a dead life. Just how I see it.

        BOINK!!! : )
        • Can a chiropractor prescribe morphine? : )
          • my left leg is shorter than my right leg. . .that means whenever i walk, particularly on concrete. . .one leg is jarring my lower back and that knee pad is getting harder impact.

So, now I wear spongy sole shoes only, and have a firm mattress. The previous car I had the seat used to sag too much and that put stress on my lower back. . .adding a seat support from Relax the Back. . .which is a chain of stores that have products to ease back pain. . .that seat support made a difference. .

i also had some problems with my shoulder and neck but that was really well corrected by the Shoulder Arm remedy. that injury was caused by throwing a baseball too hard. .

the thing you have to watch out for with back pain is the ongoing contributing factors. . .which can of course be the body's structure and chiropractors can help some people, although they never helped me.

exercises can help with structural problems within the body. .

The guy yesterday and the guy today cracked me a bit and they did some other things. But I'm like 240 lbs of slab carcass and these guys are little pussies. I'm like a mountain they try to chip away at. I need a big ass mother fuckin' muscle bear chiropractor / massage dude to work me over like a little bitch. So when he's done I will feel so much better I will worship him like a God and say "Thank you Sir. May I please have another?"

              For real though. Haaaay.

I dont mean to trivialize your response at all either guys. I'm just finishing a nice bottle of Syrah and attempting to deal psychologically with the three severely gravitational bong hits I have taken.

I was wondering if the wine might be the cause of my back problems. It was cheap at the grocery outlet. It looks & tastes good. Glass Mountain 2003 by Markham. Napa Valley. But I swear it's poisoned! I just finished the last bottle of it. You watch. I bet I start feeling better if I switch back to beer. : ) The wine may be cheaper but I dont think it's working for me. I just need to stick to a beer only ( maybe a few margaritas ) alcohol diet. And the morphine or some opium would be great. Oxycotin. Oh yeah.

I love opium! One of Gods greatest gifts to mankind.

              Cheers.

                Hippie Will has great points.
When I hit my mid 30's I started having back problems,
I started by taking over the counter meds that have asprin/ibu and
muscle-relaxants; but eventually I ended up at a chiro.
'relax the back' stores are strongly reccomended, as are QUALITY
                (read:more expensive) back bend-massagers,
                a back-friendly chair(s) may be useful.
As hippie-Will said; for more serious or persistant
issues, you need to go to a chiro repeatedly,
                at least twice a week to start, to get the prob under control;
once under control every couple/few weeks might be enough
                to manage it.
YOU also have an important point; you may need
                an x-football player chiro to torque you sufficently;
but I'm sure you could probbably find one who would be
                adequate in the yellow pages.
Some chiros can perscribe meds, although morphine is
                probably off the list.
do the excersizes they tell you to,
Ice your back helps (if you back is spasaming,
DO NOT put heat on it, it will make it WORSE!)
Good luck ! stick with the chiro
hope you find one who can help who's strong enough!
                :)
                • Sorry to hear that MR M, as you know I have been through numerous bouts of Steven having severe sciatica ....if it really is sciatica, which a DR will have to diagnose , there are alot of meds you may be prescribed, depending on the Doc involved. The first time it hit him, tafter getting no help at all in Scotland where it hit him,t e emergency Doc here, who had experienced sciatica personally, prescribed pethedine, an opiate based med given to women in extremely painful births. His old lady doc freaked and took him off of it as soon as she saw him . For him , ultimately spinal epidurals have been the cure, they usually last 4-5 years and he has had them twice now. Of course each case is different.....
                  • This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
I know I should remember since my mother used to be a nurse. And I know I could Google it. But what is an epidural? I'm going to try to avoid the drugs besides the occasional recreational trollups. Otherwise I will become a total addict. I think of myself as a junkie that only uses once in a while. If I have it all the time I'll be strung out and it would probably be the death of me. I'm hoping if I just stick with the less drinking and more healthy lifestyle thing it will work for me. It's so easy for me to not excercise for long periods of time. I have to force myself to make time for it on a daily basis.
                    • It is a spinal injection that contains a cocktail of things that is a miracle , if temporary(lasting about 5 years) cure for some. Steven gets the same prolapsed disc, so the epidural he gets puts back the space between the bones and nerves so they no longer rub together and cause the sciatica. last time I witnessed it, I would be frightened, it is massive, but of course they give a numbing ionjection first!
                      • Booze and Recreational Drugs are NOT the answer to severe back pain why? because when you sober up or come down from your high, the excruciating PAIN is still there!
I have had severe disc degeneration in the L-4 L-5 region of my lower back with severe Sciatica involving my entire left leg from the hip to the toes for over 15 years
                        Chiroprators can help
                        Back strengthening excercises can help
                        Prescription strength NSAID's can help
                        Prescribed Muscle relaxors can help
and Cortisone Injections into the Disc can provide up to six months relief
A few "Dont's" with severe lower back pain:
DON'T Hang out on that sofa in front of the TV set all day, soft seating like poofy sofa cushions will only do further damage to you unsupported back.
DON'T lift any object heavier than 15 lbs
and don't lay on your back and let someone fuck you(either anally or vaginally) the motion of this pushes UP and back, jamming your vertibrae together, further helping to rupture the ones that are already weakened.
ANY "Back pain issues" Tottally SUCK I should know!
                        • Back pain is a reminder to take care of yourself and get at least 30 minutes of exercise a day, even just walking. And stand up from the desk (if that's where you work) several times a day. I had to work standing up for a while after my big back pain experience.
                          • I know booze and drugs arent the answer to back pain. But theyre a fun temporary distraction. I think drinking too much causes back pain actually. I know a few old dudes that drink alot and they all have back problems. But if they slow down or quit drinking all together they start feeling better. And I think opiates makes you constipated and if you are constipated too much that can cause back pain too.
                            • I compressed a disc about twenty years ago, and have terrible sciatica whenever the barometer changes. SO long as it is steady, the nerve seems to adjust to the pressure, and the pain is lessened. Chiropody helps, but without medical insurance, I can't afford it. Wine does not help; in fact, it seems to exacerbate it. I basically live on ibruprofin; asprin does not do much, because the pain is nerve-related, not muscular.
                              • I think wine really does cause back pain. I drank two bottles of Pinot Noir before riding back ( my friend driving ) from Eureka last weekend. I was supposed to go back tonight through monday night but decided to stay homo. My roommate took me out for sushi then we went to Trader Joes and got some good stuff. Wine thins my blood too much too combining it with the coumadin. I did get a bottle of Chardonay at TJs though. There 2 Buck Chuck end of the aisle stuff. We'll see how that tastes tommorrow.
