What does your book collection say about you?

One of my friends has just helped me get some new shelves up in my house, so I've been busy unpacking lots of books that have just been sitting in boxes since I moved here. (Just one more box left to find homes for, not so bad considering I had about ten boxes originally :)

I've realised that I've not got a great deal of contemporary fiction, most of what I do buy tends to go straight to a friend or the charity shop afterwards. The books that I'll hang onto tend to be more the arty type eye-candy books or the classics. Don't know if that makes me a snob, or maybe I'm just not finding the right kind of modern fiction???

So what kind of book collections do everyone else have, and where do you find your best inspiration from?

Story inspired by a poem

NOT WAVING BUT DROWNING

Nobody heard him, the dead man,
I was much further out than you thought
And not waving but drowning.

Poor chap, he always loved larking
And now he's dead
It must have been too cold for him his
heart gave way,
They said.

Oh, no no no, it was too cold always
(Still the dead one lay moaning)
I was much too far out all my life
And not waving but drowning.

I sit by the sea calmly gazing at the waves. My mind is in tone with the rhythm of the waves motion. In this induced meditative state I planned to end my life.
Dreams of joining the rhythm of the sea draws me in. I need a warm wet hug. The breaking waves whisper my name as they break on the rock lined shore. The crashing waves spray water on my face, kisses from a loving parent.
I begin my decent to the watery grave. The dance of death was a trance of total bliss.
As soon as both feet are submerged the tide begins to pull me deeper. Gently at first, but increasingly more forcibly the deeper into the embrace I allow myself to progress. Each forward step taken eliminates a little of my ability to turn back.
When the water reaches up to my neck, there was an alarming change in temperature. The warm hug of death dissipates to the lonely cold of life breaking the trance.
Just as I take the step which could have been my last, the waves break their rhythm. A large wave hits me hard enough to knocks me off my feet. Once my footing was lost my body began to float.
The ocean had thrown me back. I did the dead-mans float back to life on the shore, at first feeling hurt and rejected. But then the realization that the ocean had caused a lesson to form in my confused mind. The liquid professor had fostered my connection to Gaia. I came to realize that the very reasons that drove me to want to end my life are virtues which should be nourished and allowed to flower. The body is a gift and should not be treated as evil.
I heard the lesson in every cell of my body. The great tragedy of the human story is the separation of the mind & body. Western religion has been an attempt to escape the body. This same nonsense is used to advocate the new electronic society. Heaven & Cyberspace are both generated by the same hatred of the body. These myths need to be over thrown for the world to survive. The western belief in the after-life is what allows them to justify trashing the planet. People must re-inhabit their bodies. For the body is both the mystery and the key to the mystery at the same time.

Ever since the incident, my second chance, the rebirth into the realm of the hopeful, I now love being near the ocean. I was never a strong swimmer but I feel less clumsy and more graceful in the ocean now then on land. In the sea my dreaded perverse body leaves my consciousness. The mind becomes free to think productively. Memories flood me in wonderful waves of reorganization as the body actively swims or passively floats.
The flow of time and my body meet at a peaceful vortex. The weightlessness in body and mind overwhelms me with a sort of joy of atonement with nature, an extreme sense of well being and belonging.
Swimming completely engages me back into that trance like state. The trance which drew me near death when I was empty and returned me to life full and refreshed. Swimming is a wonder, a miracle to the nonscientific mind. One can move in water, be buoyant in a transparent medium that is discontinuous in texture yet consistent.

I Forgot

As I arise to the invariable dawn of the dilapidated day to come.

Bringing with it an insipid populace to digress,
In muddled masses within their own bemused existences.
Through the mind's eye impeded by an expedited culture,
Intolerable of uninhibited thought;
Or could it be that I am intolerant?
Intolerant of the conventional social life that is the American dream,
Of a house,
Two-car garage,
Wrapped in a white picket fence,
A wife,
2.5 children,
A cat,
Dog,
And a gerbil.
I shudder in fear at this fate of a 'civilized' life,
Wilting away within a growing darkness of the monotonous,
Mind-numbing parasites that are the upper middle-class...
Day after day, their meaningless lives drone on incessantly,
Reminiscent of a pair of twin propeller engines of a DC-9,
Throbbing in thunderous succession.
The very thought of this sort of habitual routine becoming my own,
Aggravates my psyche into feverous madness,
Frantically clawing away at the roof of my skull,
In hopeless desperation to flee from the cubicle working class drudgery,
Until death do us part...

What has happened to the, ever increasing, theories of what comes next?
Where have all the philosophers gone?
When will selfishness, greed, hate and bloodshed become taboo?

Peace is not a hope in this day and age;
Instead becoming more and more like a deplorable cruel joke,
A might more mythical than a man liviing in the moon...

What has happened to us since the Renaissance?
Is this what has become of the Age of Enlightenment?
Why is every novel idea to come along, now challenged as false,
Before contemplated upon as a possible truth?
How has Mankind become the stagnant, socio-cultural idiot savant it is today?
Will we ever stop with this obsessive compulsive,
Self-gratification to 'upgrade' our lives?
HDTVs, iPods, Blue Ray Discs, Digital Cameras
Or anything else we may come across in the new mega-stores of gadgets galore.

Forget Global Warming.
Forget Starvation.
Forget Disease.
Forget the War.
Forget the Threats of WWIII.
Forget Poverty.
Forget the Hate.
Forget Genocide.
Forget the Exchange of Blood for Oil.
Forget the Dying and Dead.
Forget it All.

Shut yourselves away from the rest of the world,
Hiding within your comfortable suburbanite track homes,
And complain about the REAL problems of your own little worlds:
Rising gas prices,
Raised taxes,
Recession,
The switch to High Definition
And the size of your fucking television set.
Utter nonsense to prattle on and on about,
Sheltering the populace from the callous realities of this newborn century,
Frighteningly evocative of 1984.

Empty dribble for those unable to distinguish horse manure from shoeshine. McCain’s inner-cracker surfaces with “That one!” aka “Those people!”, “Tar Baby!”, “Little Black Sambo!” or “Jew Boy!” McCain’s comment caused me to remember my youth in the Southern U.S. and gas stations with three bathrooms for men, women and colored. One night I went to sleep as a Jewish child and woke up the next morning to hear my family saying that the U.S. Government now considered us white. As for my race, I chose to remain “human” while at least attempting to recognize same in all people as the individual threads within the beautiful fabric of our humanity.

McCain – “I’ve been on nuclear powered ships”:
Yes, second from the bottom of his graduating class, John McCain wet starts his Skyhawk on the flight deck of the USS Forrestal in 1967, detonates a Zuni missile on the F4 Phantom parked behind his jet and causes the infamous fire aboard the ship killing 132 U.S. Navy sailors and wounding countless others. McCain’s military career has consistently recognized the admiral’s son successfully making touchdowns for the opposing team - stop John you’re running the wrong way…the goalpost is the other direction! McCain’s political career has the same “reverse maverick” modus operandi while supporting an illegal war in Iraq that should result in first degree murder charges being brought against George W. Bush and his administration, as cited within Vincent Bugliosi’s book titled, The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder.

McCain – “My friends my record speaks of continuous service to the nation”:
Whose nation wrong way McCain – North Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Dubai, land of the Bush bin Cheney harem whores? Allegedly, McCain with a false war hero persona sided with his communist captors in North Vietnam during the war. McCain, you must DECLASSIFY YOUR SEALED MILITARY AND ASSOCIATED RECORDS to answer the charges that while a POW of the North Vietnamese, you voluntarily and without being tortured did give aid and comfort to the enemy of the United States by producing over 32 propaganda tapes denouncing America as a nation of war criminals and did treasonously provide classified military flight path routes to the NVC, which allowed them to reposition their antiaircraft weapons and kill U.S. pilots on their return trips back home. Tell the American people why you and Kerry changed the standing rules that allowed U.S. Military Commanders on the ground to immediately implement a rescue mission to recover POWs and MIAs when sighted and now require a two day delay be communicated through the Pentagon before taking action, which may as well be two years in jungle time? McCain you allegedly support crossing into Pakistan to kill the complicit Bush family’s friend and ally, Osama bin Laden, but you won’t rescue our U.S. Military POWs and MIAs after the CIA has confirmed over 15,000 sighting. Not to mention that my sources close to the U.S. Special Forces operating in that region confirm that the Whitehouse via the Pentagon telephonically gave a special operations team the following orders after identifying the target for neutralization; “do not to kill Osama bin Laden and remove your team from the area.” When the team later inquired about their combat pay, they were told the mission had been classified and technically speaking since on paper they were never in the Afghanistan/Pakistan region, they are therefore not entitled to combat pay. Wonder if this was one of the same formulas used by your syndicated Republican consortium to systematically rape the financial assets of the American people – where were you 90% of the time for the past eight years? Maverick? – no I think you have been more like sedentary hot buttered goat custard.

McCain – “No one in this country supports genocide” – vomit!
Guess what “my friends”, McCain headed a Senatorial Investigation Committee to cover-up the Bush family’s continuing genocide of Americans and scapegoated their blame onto the back of a power company engineer for another Republican act of treason. My sources so very close to the U.S. Secret Service that I once declined their offer to be photographed sitting at Bush 41’s Whitehouse desk, volunteered that President and former CIA Chief, George H.W. Bush ordered the clandestine testing of a military Electromagnetic Pulse [EMP] weapon on New York City from a refitted A-6 Intruder jet-bomber with a golden canopy that “Killed American Citizens.” New Yorkers died that day, just like on 911. On the date of that EMP weapons attack ordered by Republican George H.W. Bush, American citizens died from an inability to obtain emergency services following massive regional power outages caused by the covert use the U.S. Military against our nation’s people while on U.S. soil. Following 911, it’s too bad that Rudy Giuliani affected such a rapid clean-up of the crime scene area to destroy any evidence; especial with what I suspect would have been found after the botched demolition operation on WTC Building No.: 7 that suddenly decided to drop into its own footprint without being touched. The Bush oligarchy historically recognizes an ongoing lineage of treason to perpetuate their global continuing criminal enterprise and the largest theft of government funds in the history of the known world.

President and former CIA Chief, George H.W. Bush replaced CIA Chief William Colby who died during a suspected assassination on August 27, 1996, before he could testify in the 1953 staged suicide/murder of U.S. Army scientist Dr. Frank Olson [CIA MK-ULTRA] from the same top secret laboratories in Fort Detrick, MD that recently recognized another alleged suicide in one Dr. Bruce E. Ivans [911 Postal Anthrax produced from within the same facility].

Black File 7001: The Genocidal Holocaust in America
U.S. Genocidal Black Projects in torture and mind-control have continued in development since the CIA’s importation of 1600 Nazi SS war criminals to America during “Operation Paperclip” where they continued their inhuman atrocities on human test animals within the MK-ULTRA Program. Those monstrous practices were first begun at the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camps. These genocidal black projects are covertly funded by billions of dollars from American taxpayers and are rarely scrutinized beneath their program titles by the congressional intelligence committees and their elected members with top secret crypto clearances. Typically these black projects and their methodologies are shrouded beneath federal programs with misnomer titles; kept under wraps at top secret military installations; are concealed within academic research grants; tested during the surrounding events of natural disasters; monitored within the public education system; entrenched within technological devices and surveillance equipment; and are hidden from public scrutiny around the world within prisons, hospitals and centers of academic learning that occasionally double as a blacksite facilities to varying degrees. These formulas for torture are applied against every thread of our existence and the total fabric of humanity by the controlling few against the many whom I feel will increasingly find their revolutionary voice for a restorative democracy that recognizes the human being in all people. Exposing these U.S. black projects causes’ whistleblowers like me to become Targeted Individuals [TIs] who are cauterized through “slow kill” and “silent kill” methods that psychologically wall-off mind-control victims with layers of suicide programming or are rapidly silenced by assassination. Self-inflicted harm is the cornerstone of the four principle components within the CIA torture matrix. This means that the “deep state” proponents of genocidal black projects in torture and mind-control within the U.S. Government infrastructure use covert operatives or jackal agents to harm or murder innocent American citizens. The only reason why these criminal agents and enemies of humanity have not murdered me to date is because I write and publish. The jackals and other criminal actors known to me have been warned along with their handlers that unannounced appearances will be considered a mortal threat. My contacts in the Federal Bureau of Investigation have been notified.

The Federal Witness Protection Program [WitSec], complete with a blacksite facility staffed by government psychologists assisting in the mind-control and torture program, recognizes a clandestine shadow network with given WitSec Inspectors and associated federal agents and agencies conducting sadistic and genocidal practices against Non-Criminal Federal Witnesses and Government Whistleblowers who unknowingly become human test animals within the fraudulent federal program.

This human laboratory control sample within the WitSec is subjected to an evolving mind-control and “no-touch” invisible physical torture experiment sourced from methods produced by the CIA’s MK-ULTRA Program and the KUBARK Counterintelligence Interrogation Manual [The Torture Bible]. The ongoing cover-up by WitSec’s administrators includes their lying under oath before the U.S. Congress to conceal the wrongful deaths of U.S. Government Witnesses from the lasting erosive effects of psyops, mind-control and torture while in and after having exited the Federal Witness Protection Program.

This additionally includes the theft of government funds while robbing the American taxpayers of $Billions through padded numbers to feather their budget. In 2000, I assisted the USDOJ to investigate and successfully prosecute my first WitSec Inspector, John W. Dubois [name authorized by U.S Marshals Service for release] for the same charge. Dubois was later released from prison and allowed to stalk me, convey veiled death threats and later accosted me by the arm while I was near death from cancer treatments.

WitSec Headquarters took no action after filing over 30 security notices, which remains in keeping with the most of our state and federal elected representatives; including Senator Ron Wyden, Congressman David Wu, Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski, and Oregon Attorney General Hardy Myers. Actually my volunteer work as a consumer advocate has placed nearly $30 thousand in the State of Oregon’s depleted coffers and I like Oregon’s AG, but their motives that extends beyond the perpetuation of the “Dark Figure of Crime” is best known to each of them and should be explained to the Oregon voters before the next election; certainly I am affording them yet another opportunity to respond, since they already know my legal name and contact information.

Every frontline covert operator working deep cover assignments, Non-Criminal Federal Witnesses and Government Whistleblowers who are granted a fraudulent Protective Person’s Status under Title 18 of the U.S.C. only to become unknowing human test animals in clandestine experiments, on average begin developing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder [PTSD] within 24 days of exposure in their given operational areas. Some are affected sooner and all experience the complete deconstruction of Constitutional Civil Liberties and inalienable human rights entitled any person [human being] and/or an American citizen after being psychologically pressed into the Federal Witness Protection Program.

The oil rich nations of Saudi Arabia and the UAE, Dubai that supported the attacks against America on 911, today are the only entities making money during the final glut of their end game to destroy America with the treasonous assistance of their complicit partners in the Republican Bush-Cheney administration.
With every economic hardship that our fellow human brothers and sisters are continuing to experience with the collapse of U.S. Republican capitalism, respectfully for those of us who remain an unseen minority as a protect class within plain-sight of mainstream America, the concentrated formulas used against us are horrifically deconstructive and are infinitely worse than anything being generally experienced at this moment.

This is Clandestine Genocide being conducted against American citizens by the U.S. Government. For my group of Veterans of Voluntary Covert National Service, no matter how much the economy and life improves for the majority of Americans living on Main Street, USA, our existence as Non-Criminal Federal Witnesses, Government Whistleblowers and Targeted Individuals [TIs] will remain one of Adjunct Human Slavery within a Virtual Death Camp Environment that continues to systematically and systemically murder our members who are equally entitled American citizens of good character. From that hellish place we watch the blessings of liberty enjoyed by our fellow citizens like “bubble boys” able to move about you while never allowed to penetrate the membrane of that inhuman vessel that falsely imprisons us away from our constitutional entitlements and inalienable human rights. The culpable actors within the U.S. Government have made it virtually if not completely impossible for most of use to find employment. The women in our group have to a degree been able to obtain public assistance, albeit an unnatural reduction from their former financial statuses before the WitSec Program.

This becomes an egregious human rights violation and Constitutional Crime committed by the U.S. Government against its veterans of covert national service who apparently are systemically targeted for eventual death following their voluntary participation as partisans of liberty.

A convicted felon in prison has more recognized civil liberties and opportunities made available to them than American citizen who went above and beyond the call of duty to participate in our government system to make the world and our nation a better place for all human beings.

Female Government Witness and Whistleblower Subjected to Rape Torture!
One female government witness and whistleblower recently communicated that following her discovery that a number of Republican Senators were laundering millions in U.S. taxpayers’ dollars through quasi federal programs, that she was kidnapped and subjugated to human sexual slavery for the sadistic pleasures of those wishing her death. Once programmed through mind-control techniques she was raped for two days, hung by the neck and thought left for dead until she awoke in a pool of her own blood and feces with her sexual organs destroyed.

After a 24 hour reconstructive surgery and a period of recuperation, she returned to a university where she completed her degrees only to have those targeting her for torture and mind-control, separate her from securing those University Degrees while leaving her with $30 thousand dollars in debts for student loans. Somehow she will have to pay-off those federal student loans while continuing to seek restorative justice and restitution for the crimes committed against her. Be aware that all American citizens and other innocent victims of genocidal human experimentation are being subjected to these crimes against humanity by the same individuals who espouse the rights of a blastocyst while processing Christianity. That said, even the members of the Nazi SS attended the Catholic Church.

Like this brutalized human being and gentle woman, I remain disenfranchised from the completion of my degrees by the actionable offences of the WitSec Program and without an audit conducted by the federal government, to this day I am not certain if the WitSec Inspectors actually caused me to pay nearly double what I owed in federal student loans.

Under the Bush oligarchy and within the Bush-Cheney administration, whose members were the first to avoid government service and the first to send our youth to be murdered for financial profits, a former Nazi became a Catholic Pope and the grandfather of Karl Rove [Roverer] aka “The Architect” built the Birkenau death camp. Karl Heinz Roverer was the Gauleiter of Oldenburg. Roverer was the Reich-Statthalter or Nazi State Party Chairman for his region. He was also a partner and senior engineer in the Roverer Sud-Deutche Ingenieurburo A.G. engineering firm, which built the Birkenau death camp where tens of thousands of Jews, Gypsies, dissidents and others were slaughtered through genocide. During that time and before while reaching back to 1920, the namesake of the two Bush presidents, George Herbert Walker and former Republican Senator, Prescott Bush laundered the financial assets of the Nazi industrial complex through WWI, WWII, and the Jewish Holocaust against the United States of America while our nation was at war with Nazi Germany. That treasonous legacy continues today as recognized since September 11, 2001.

The Federal Witness Protection Program with its “deep state” blackops proponents sharpened the blade of tactics later used against detainees inside Abu Ghraib Prison on the unknowing human test animals within the WitSec black project. To date the CIA torture matrix has killed and murdered an estimated 115 human slaves tortured to death inside Abu Ghraib Prison, Iraq; 35 were ruled homicides. The developers of the ongoing CIA torture matrix within the U.S. Government continue to target innocent American citizens for “slow kill” and “silent kill” deaths on U.S. soil and the majority of our alleged elected representatives remain silent. What excuse will they give when this matter reaches the light of public examination?

All of the above and more, depending on the individual concentration or a collective lamination of same, recognize the means of causing psyops terrorism and torture technique that although tested on those of us who walk unseen among you in their most concentrated forms, have increasingly been implemented against the general population of America and the World since September 11, 2001.

Standing Alone for the Human Victims of Torture.
With the exceptions of Senator, Barack Obama; Congressman, Dennis Kucinich; and Congressman, Elijah E. Cummings, the majority of our elected Congressional members, including my Senator, Ron Wyden and Congressman, David Wu have supported genocidal torture programs through their craven silence and failure to implement a Congressional investigation regarding my firsthand experience of having become an unknowing human test animal and victim of torture as Non-Criminal Federal Witness, No.: 7001.

Even though John McCain publically stated “my friends no American would allow genocide to occur when it is completely within our power to stop it.” This unfortunately is not the case and like the past this same government demeanor that once allowed the genocide of over 6,000,000 human beings during the Jewish Holocaust is at play again. My story, Black File 7001 has been blacklisted by the propagandized corporate news media, most of the progressive news media, including Democracy Now, NOW on PBS, Air America Radio, and The Ed Schultz Show. Of course talk radio is what it is and I quit listening over a year ago, but Democracy Now and NOW on PBS, are two shows that I have followed and supported for years; only they will be able to answer the reasons for their own silence.

Currently and while still seeking asylum in Canada, I am attempting to contact Oprah Winfrey with Harpo Productions, Inc., the Canadian BBC and would welcome communications with any genuine journalism organization, publisher, film maker, literary agent or elected political representative willing to discuss the Black File 7001 story. My thank to those of you who have sent a petition to the Government of Canada requesting they grant asylum under the conventions of torture cited by the UNHCR and retroprosity for my Protective Person’s Status issued by U.S. Attorney General, Janet Reno under Title 18 of the United States Code.

The Bush-Cheney administration validates Black File 7001
Ironically, Black File 7001 has been reverse validated by the Bush-Cheney administration through their federal agent’s unlawful use of a communication facility while telephonically threatening, “Bah – you have people in very high places afraid to death that you are going to destroy their programs and they said if you publish your book, they will “invent” a criminal charge against you.” Following my invitation for his handler’s to go pound salt in their asses, agents of the Sensitive Operations Division of the Social Security Administration and the WitSec Program first awarded my Social Security Disability Benefits and then in an act of political retribution, punitively withdrew same under written letters of protest from the U.S. Government’s own federal judge. In an egregious violation of several federal laws that extend to a charge of treason under the Federal Identities Act, those mandated with my protection deliberately commingled federally sealed classified government documents and illegally unsealed my covert SSA file for public viewing from January 8, 2001 [my son’s birthday] until the U.S. Attorney in Seattle, WA suddenly contacted my attorney advising that she was filing a Motion to Reseal on July 14, 2008 – the Bush-Cheney administration is trying to perform a cover-up of the many crimes committed against me. A federal court judge is deciding the case on civil appeal in Seattle, WA.

Again, the administrators of the Federal Witness Protection Program [WitSec] have lied before the U.S. Congress regarding the deaths of government witnesses from the causal effects of the genocidal program while financially raping the American taxpayers with padded numbers they alleged represents 18,000 government witnesses when liberally speaking the number is more likely no higher than 8,500. Only 6% of the total number are Non-Criminal Federal Witnesses and the rest are Custodial and Criminal Federal Witnesses.

The ongoing egregious federal crimes and human rights violations committed against me directly or in layers and the mechanisms that have denied my constitutional right of legal redress under duplicitous use of national security protocols, have deconstructed my ability to enjoy the fundamental right to life, complete my university degrees, secure employment, recognize my Social Security, and retain my Social Security Disability Benefits from the actionable offences committed in political retribution by a corrupt government system that has leaking classified government information under Title 18 of the United States Code to a telecommunications company engaged in this blackops RICO conspiracy. The erosive effects caused by psyops and “no-touch” invisible physical torture by the U.S. Government, recognizes a resulting harm that has remained infinitely more damaging during the past eight years than the singular event relating to the Valerie Plame Wilson matter.

The list of criminal offenses committed against me along with the commingling and leaking of federally sealed and classified information is lengthy and has created a mortal threat environment around my geographic location in violation of the WitSec mandate. This further serves as the U.S. Government’s passive sanction for my assassination that increasingly becomes a probability nearing the end of the treasonous Bush-Cheney administration.

Under this administration and others, this is the clandestine reward for those good citizens and former law enforcement members who gave something extra in service to our nation. With a Protective Person’s Status as a Protected Class, we are “disappeared” into an unequal parallel within our mothercountry that is barren of constitutional civil liberties and inalienable human rights. While being mummified for voluntary covert national service, our individual sense of self-identity is eroded into an existence of adjunct human slavery within a virtual death camp environment were an unnatural death waits in the shadows. Once situated in the plain-sight of the general population, we are confronted by the constant threat of lethal deportation or vicarious extraordinary rendition back to our birth identities and certain death from known mortal threats and often the actionable offences committed in political retribution by the very U.S. Government personnel allegedly tasked with our protection.

Freelance Journalist inside the Federal Witness Protection Program as a Non-Criminal Federal Witness. “Black File 7001” is a work of investigative journalism that initially began in 1994. Early in 1999, I completed a covert assignment with the FBI lasting five years after having been previously requested to stand-down from a fulltime university curriculum with an inactive law enforcement background for possibly twelve months. Immediately thereafter I entered the Federal Witness Protection Program (WitSec) and ever since have continued to experience the U.S. government’s use of psychological torture practices and political retribution by the named agents and agencies of the U.S. government under the Bush-Cheney administration. Multiple actionable offenses have been committed under state, federal and international law while the culpable agents and agencies remain shielded from civil and criminal prosecution by the administration’s threat or issuance of national security letters, which prevent legal discovery and subvert the rule of law. The U.S. government does torture, I am one of its American victims and am requesting a humanitarian intervention before it is too late.

EDITORIAL FOREWORD:

Producing the report titled “Black File 7001” has experienced the threat or issuance of national security letters by the Bush-Cheney administration, a subordinate agent directly under the administration threatening me with the invention of a criminal charge if I publish and the suppression of this story by the same Democratic Congress that falsely promised an end to the money laundering operation in Iraq that remains perpetuated by the insidious genocide of our American military service members and other innocent human beings throughout the world.

As a former lifelong humanitarian member of what use to be the Republican Party until 2000 and a person who also voted for Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, I charge the neoconservatives with having filled the bowels of this Trojan Horse Republican Party with the stench of operating a continuing criminal enterprise under the guise of bringing democracy to the world.

The U.S. government infrastructure has been overthrown and this administration has declared constitutional civil war against the United States of America. The American people must organize in a lawful and peaceful revolution that mirrors and surpasses the civil rights era. We must march on Washington, D.C. and picket the corporate offices of the propaganda ministries to force their coverage of your protests and displayed messages.

It is critically important that before the next election we must demand Democratic Congressional members to openly support publically funded elections; not for profit universal healthcare; free or affordable higher education for all citizens; the meaningful development alternative fuel sources; the abatement of the conditions causing the honey bee populations from disappearing from around the world (later in the primary story I will invite you to read why noticing the smallest of G-d’s creatures holds the largest messages); and the criminal investigation of the named agents and agencies of the U.S. government under the Bush-Cheney administration regarding the Black File 7001 report.

Career politicians, regardless of political affiliations who fail the muster of the American people should be removed and replaced with genuine representatives before the next voting cycle.

Americans must become the partisans of liberty to reclaim the dream and promise of America and our inalienable rights as human beings. The jackbooted fascists of today must be prevented from emulating the treason of U.S. Senator Prescott Bush through their perversion of peace for the profits of war. The American mainstream has already been herded towards the invisible and tangible death camps of democracy. In those places you will endured conditions far worse than any physical torture where other Americans like me have been left for dead for over thirty years. These human beings of whom I speak are not criminals or terrorists; they are honorable American citizens who answered their country’s call to duty for special covert government service only to become a disposable population and the hidden dirty secret of the U.S. government.

Since 1970, one thousand and eighty (1,080) American citizens have existed as something cousin to death camp victims from the destructive effects of the Federal Witness Protection Program. These non-criminal federal witnesses and American veterans of voluntary covert government service became the unknowing test subjects in a clandestine torture experiment that exists as the precursor model for converting a freethinking U.S. civilian population into a self-consuming enslaved society. Within the death camp known as “WitSec” these human beings are subjected to the insidious methods of psychological torture that systematically erode the individual sense of self-identity until the will to live has been lost.

ABOUT ME:

My WitSec No. is 7001, I am a husband, father, writer, and freelance journalist who remained inside the Federal Witness Protection Program as a Non-Criminal Federal Witness and am now ready to surface under guarded conditions with the firsthand story of how a minority group of honorable American citizens are being psychologically tortured and politically persecuted by the U.S. government. Immediately I am seeking the support of the American public and progressive news media; the representation of a listed creative agent; contract negotiations with book publishers and the motion picture industry; a university initiative with an accredited school of journalism to include lecturing options and the sanitized conversion of my college records; and communication platforms with Ms. Oprah Winfrey and Mr. George Clooney via the Smoke House Studio.

By comparison to the physical injuries that I have endured from trauma and other accidents, the lasting effects of psychological torture are far worse. This form of torture is sourced from the fascist mindset of the named agents and agencies of the U.S. government under the Bush-Cheney administration through their commissions of actionable offenses and political retributions. As a veteran of voluntary covert government service who operated undercover for five years while contracted by the FBI as an agent of the federal government, I state unequivocally and categorically that the U.S. government does torture human beings. As an American citizen and non-criminal federal witness let the record show that I am declaring myself as a torture victim of the U.S. government. With my soul dying and the body giving signs that it wants to follow I offer that no truer words have ever been written than “give me liberty or give me death” or that “the worse death is a life without hope.”

Having previously been blessed with an out of body experience during trauma that was caused by the U.S. government and prior to my recovery in advance of relearning how to walk, I am not frightened by a natural death. The experience of dying for me confirmed the Socratic belief that the human soul is made of two parts with one half being a physical finite and the other a non-physical infinite. Life as seen from the eyes of the body is an illusion or one half of a duality. It was possible to see from two separate and paralleling perspectives at the same time. The physical world appeared normal while my body felt the tremendous force of being pulled into the earth. Initially from within the spiritual realm there was no ugliness, no beauty, no gender, and only muted colors with humanoid forms. Before I lost the sight of my physical body, the last human emotion that I felt was an all encompassing global pity that literally enveloped the earth with my living sentient energy. Soon I was sitting in space and the beauty of the earth returned with the comforting tenderness of a loving mother and at my back was the warmth of wisdom and strength from a fatherly sun. A few moments passed and my two halves were made whole again to continue the journey that brought me to this place of inhuman suffering.

In self-definition I am a Humanitarian-Universal-Infrastructuralist or a person who has spent a lifetime identifying and interrelating the commonalities between myself and all known sentient beings and other components within the universe from which to become more human.

My views of the current U.S. President and Vice President find them culpable for treason, egregious crimes against humanity and international terrorism while wearing a mask of insipid divinity. Clearly these judicially selected ten cent millionaires are criminal sociopaths who function from a series of learned behaviors used to produce a desired result while being incapable of recognizing any genuine sense of right and wrong.

These individuals and their followers bare the marks that brand their names with the gamatria of the most inhuman and deceptive beings that walk among us on the earth in legion with what some would call the antichrist. Although I have never considered myself worthy of the blessings, respectfully I believe that throughout my life there have been a number of occasions when my being was touched by the many faces of G-d. With all of that said, one should never confuse spiritual currency with political capitol since the latter is most often sourced from the abyss of false profits, which brought the genocide over six million Jews, Gypsies and homosexuals in Nazi Germany; the slaughter of tribal nations in America; the turning of human beings against their brothers and sisters throughout history; the selling of children, women and men as slaves; the gang rape and victimization of Arabic women who are then whipped as criminals; and the 911 terrorist attacks used to perpetuate war profiteering and oil piracy for those who drink from a rivers of human blood and suffering. Considering my temporary acquaintance with death, I believe the purest form of spiritual worship that collectively joins us with the universe is simply the individual act of at least attempting to recognize the human being in all people.

BLACK FILE 7001:

“Black File 7001” is a work of investigative journalism that began in 1994 as an academic prospectus with the goals of publishing books, producing movies, film documentaries, and developing a lecture syllabus with the thinking who better to teach than a person with skin in the game. While in a fulltime academic setting and shortly after beginning this protect, I discovered actionable intelligence that was brought forward for case installation at the federal level. Already possessing an inactive law enforcement background and specialized skill sets where few if any training manuals exist, the FBI requested my voluntary assistance for a projected twelve months. Five years later I completed the FBI undercover group one investigation having successfully penetrated four organized crime groups while never being afforded one day off for that entire period of time. Since other federal law enforcement agencies are not equipped to handle long duration personal security operations, I entered the Federal Witness Protection Program (WitSec) as a Non-Criminal Federal Witness in 1999. Nearly immediately after entering the WitSec the named agents and agencies of the U.S. government under the Bush-Cheney administration unthinkably began outing my active covert status. Since exiting the WitSec in good standing early in 2001, political retributions by the U.S. government have continued to terrorize me with actionable offenses and the tactics of psychological torture. These culpable acts additionally serve as a passive sanction for the assassination of an American citizen and a former covert agent of the federal government. This story is uncharted territory and I am unaware of any other writer/journalist who has actually penetrated this fraudulent clandestine federal program, which shrouds itself beneath an undeserved veil of secrecy that exists in the absence of public scrutiny and meaningful congressional oversight. The latter might explain why multiple action notices regarding this investigation have gone unanswered by the craven Democratic Congress that I helped elected to office with their false promise of ending the corporatist money laundering operation in Iraq.

Within the next 30 day or by New Year’s Day 2008, I will publish an extensive sanitized report that has been redacted from a much larger work. Please communicate with me and contact your local election campaign committees to demand that your congressional members take action in this matter.

American citizens are being used as the unknowing test subjects in a clandestine torture experiment shrouded within the Federal Witness Protection Program (WitSec). Non-Criminal Federal Witnesses (1,080) are a special minority class of American citizens in title only who are being used as a laboratory control sample for the applied tactics of terrorism and psychological torture (psyops) on a U.S. civilian population by the U.S. government.

Writing remains one of my two fragile anchors holding me to this world and a federal agent (L.H.M.) directly under the Bush-Cheney administration has telephonically communicated “you have a lot of people in high places afraid to death that you are going to destroy their programs…and if you publish a book, the government will invent a criminal charge against you.” After refusing not to publish with an invitation to that federal agent’s handlers to “go pound salt up their asses”, a series of actionable offenses were committed against me in political retribution under state, federal and international law. These same entities on several occasions have outed my classified status that with each culpable act, serves to intensify what has become a standing passive sanction for the assassination of an American citizen and former covert agent of the federal government.

As a physically disabled person from two trauma accidents caused by the federal government or incurred in the line of duty during covert government service, I applied for Social Security Disability Benefits (SSDB) through the required classified channels. This process required that I utilize my second WitSec Inspector (A.S.) and the Social Security Administration’s Sensitive Operations Division (SOD) that was established for persons in covert-ops, the CIA and the U.S. State Department working oversees. The Social Security Disability Benefits were authorized, but following my refusal not to publish the WitSec and SSA’s SOD conspired to punitively withdraw my SSDB. This occurred prior to beginning treatments for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma cancer in 2004. The government’s own federal court judge who heard the SSA case issued several letters of complaint to the Sensitive Operations Division, charging that office had provided the court with erroneous information and that the SOD’s delay in responding was contemptuous to the point of preventing a fair hearing. Two months past while the SOD and WitSec crafted their evidence and my SSDB’s claim entered the appeals stage. During the initial SSDB process, repeated telephonic conversations had been made with and between the WitSec and the SOD to insure that the production of the SSA documents would not out my covert status. After multiple assurances that complete security would be maintained, the WitSec and SOD deliberately or at the least through total gross incompetence filed documents that outed my covert status by commingling my identities in violation of several federal laws and a federal court seal. After the matter was sent to the SSA Hearing and Appeals Board where it remained for two years that federal agency notified my private attorney they had lost my classified government file in violation of the same laws allegedly protecting my covert status. A copy was returned by my attorney and two weeks later my benefits were denied again. The SSDB matter is pending on civil appeal to the federal court where I am certain it will be again denied by the government’s crafting of the evidence. Lastly the WitSec and SOD conspired to deconstruct my only viable work history by purging a covert front business located in Texas from the regular SSA computer system and additionally failed under contract to sanitize and convert my previous Social Security records into my new Jewish name. Allegedly I had been employed by that Texas front business for over a decade as a construction estimator that for all I knew might have found Dick Cheney answering the telephones on an earlier occasion. Following the WitSec and SOD’s punitive acts of political retribution, during two subsequent visits to the local SSA office the computer screen was so void of information that the office staffers contacted their supervisors to report they believed their computer system had been penetrated by hackers.

Prior to 911 and before the USDOJ had been prostituted by this corrupt administration, I was able to assist in the covert criminal prosecution of my first U.S. Deputy Marshal/WitSec Inspector (J.D.) for his theft of government funds.

After 911 and following my refusal not to publish under threat of the invention of a criminal charge by the U.S. government that same former WitSec Inspector/federal felon was released from prison and allowed to stalk me. While near death from chemotherapy and radiation treatments for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma cancer that same federal felon physically accosted me by the arm inside of a warehouse superstore. Thirty-six security notices went unanswered by the U.S. Marshals Service’s Federal Witness Security Program Headquarters.

The second WitSec Inspector (A.S.) eventually came to my home with a regular deputy marshal who did not have a WitSec security clearance, which further outed my covert status and sarcastically laughed that he had forgotten to tell me that the WitSec Headquarters’ mailing address had been changed after 911 and that under the new U.S. Patriot Act my only means of communicating with headquarters was directly through him. That WitSec Inspector continued to smile while stating that my classified information and security notices had been circulated by several staffers without WitSec clearances before it got to where I thought it was being sent. When asked about the other Deputy Marshal’s security clearance, the WitSec Inspector stated “owe I use non-WitSec personnel all the time to handle WitSec matters.” This same WitSec Inspector has committed multiple actionable offences and has outed my covert status numerous times while creating a growing mortal threat environment around my geographic location.

Many of the public self-aggrandizing claims and testimonials given before the U.S. Congress and published by the Federal Witness Protection Program will soon be debunked within my Black File 7001 report.

Following the WitSec and SOD’s removal of my work history with their deletion of the covert front business from the SSA computer system and even though I am a very capable and multitalented individual with strong skill sets, given this act and the government’s failure to perform under written contracts, I have been unable to find employment after submitting over 3000 job applications. However by comparison and in direct contrast to my own personal situation, the first WitSec Inspector (J.D.) after his release from federal prison for the theft of several thousand dollars in U.S. government funds is now gainfully employed and processing the private financial records of American citizens as a mortgage loan officer. Under this administration criminals and traitors are rewarded and the good servants of the American people become part of a disposable population.

Out of 18,000 federal witnesses, 16,920 are criminal and custodial federal witnesses and 1,080 of that total number are “non-criminal federal witnesses.” The six percent who are non-criminal federal witnesses are comprised of honorable American citizens from every cultural identity within our society. These same veterans of voluntary covert government service took that extra step above and beyond the call of duty to participate in our system while defending our constitutional democracy and the American people. Within that minority of six percent I am an even smaller number of non-criminal federal witnesses who entered covert government service with an inactive law enforcement background and specialized skill sets of a nature that possess few if any training manuals.

The ACLU of which I am a member has tried to bring four previous cases involving non-criminal federal witnesses through the Washington, D.C. office. With each lawsuit brought by the ACLU, the Bush-Cheney administration has issued national security letters to prevent the legal discovery of evidence and thus subverted the rule of law. However, in my possession is the actual physical evidence that includes but is not limited to federal court documents proving the outing of my covert status; the federal court documents of the first WitSec Inspector (J.D.); lawfully produced audiotape recordings of WitSec personnel and others; and the proof of warrantless wiretapping, data mining, the electronic theft of intellectual property; et al. One should remember General Douglas MacArthur’s island hopping campaign during WWII. As that relates to this matter, I am bypassing a slugfest with Goliath that would only serve to hold me in stasis with my foot in the courtroom door. Instead I invite all freethinking human beings to a Greek debate in the court of public opinion. Criticism and contemplation are necessary to keep a flourishing democracy alive. Let the U.S. government bring forth its best criminal cowards to stand on the square with me in open examination before the American people and the world.

THE TREASON OF CONDOLEEZZA RICE:

It is also my intention to challenge the blatant lies told before the U.S. Congress by Condoleezza Rice regarding the administration’s knowledge of events prior to 911 – the FBI and CIA did have operational joint counterterrorism taskforce offices since the mid 90s.

“A litany of lies about 911, Iraq and now Iran – There is one point that I am compelled to insert within this document beyond the scope of its primary focus and here seems as good a place as anywhere. A covert FBI Special Agent and former teammate in charge of two special operations groups who worked in the field with me and whom I supported in the hunt for Eric Robert Rudolph also known as the Olympic Park Bomber, revealed during the mid 90s that both the FBI and CIA had established joint counterterrorism taskforce offices to exchange foreign and domestic intelligence. This fact directly contradicts Condoleezza Rice’s testimony before congress regarding the August 6, 2001 PDB Briefing Report titled “Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.”, during which Rice stated that a fractionalization existed between federal agencies, which prevented intelligence information from being communicated to the Bush administration. The most blatant lie came when Rice stated that no joint FBI/CIA taskforce offices existed before or during that time, while alleging joint taskforce offices were being established forthwith. Further supporting a charge of perjury against Condoleezza Rice and I believe grounds for treason, appears to be former CIA Director, George Tenet’s public testimony regarding actionable intelligence in July 2001 regarding Osama bin Laden’s plan to attack American targets using commercial jetliners. July 2001 marked the last time that I flew on a commercial aircraft on my way to lecture at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia and an occasion when I exchanged passing remarks with former U.S. Senator Gary Hart sitting near me. The actionable intelligence was clearly suppressed by the Bush-Cheney administration. In other words, given these facts and the known associations between the 911 Terrorists; the family of Osama bin Laden; the Saudi Arabian Royal family; the United Arab Emirates (poised to purchase 25% of Citibank and 40% of the U.S. and British Stock Markets); and the oil trading partners, personal friends and business associates within the Bush-Cheney syndicate it appears that the United States of America was allowed to be attacked by a foreign enemy to act as a protagonist event for the perpetuation of war profiteering and oil piracy. Therefore I strongly believe that if the unveiled enemies of the American people were not politically shielded, they would have already been prosecuted for treason, conspiracy, racketeering, money laundering, operating a continuing criminal enterprise, international terrorism, and crimes against humanity.”

SPECIAL NOTE CONCERNING IRAN:

Before the 2006 election the U.S. Intelligence agencies already knew that Iran did not have a “secret nuclear weapons program.” That report was presented to the Bush-Cheney administration and was politically suppressed with instructions given between the lines to craft new evidence. The facts are that Iran’s nuclear enrichment program has not been able to achieve a greater rate than 3.8% enrichment, which is even a lower percentage than what is required to bring a peaceful nuclear power plant online and far less than the enrichment level needed to produce a nuclear weapon. The psychology of substituting sexuality for the creation of illegal wars with oil rich sovereign nations, seems the iconic aphrodisiac of this administration when laminating that over sixty-eight elected Republican politicians have been charged and convicted of sexual crimes against children; that George W. Bush, a known cocaine user (sexual stimulant), deserted his post in the Air Nation Guard when they began drug testing; that both Bush and Cheney took multiple deferments from military service during Vietnam so that other Americans could die in their places; that Dick Cheney made use of a Freudian phallic extension in the form of a shotgun to shot his friend in the head during a hunting expedition; that Dick Cheney has a pneumatic penile implant to achieve an erection; and that the nude photograph of George W. Bush in college displays an unremarkable penis. Add these factors together with the absolute power over the U.S. military and the world will recognize a six headed monster with twelve hearts that numbers 666 and produces the political fodder that destroys the sovereign thought process, creates a toxic society and consumes the collective human soul. Plainly stated devil cannot exist without followers.

MY REQUEST TO MEDIA, UNIVERSITIES, PUBLISHERS, MOVIE PRODUCERS, AND THE WORLD OF HUMAN BEINGS:

While my reaching out might become the closing scene in a lifelong journey to become more human, knowingly I choose my own death over remaining a torture victim and slave within an uncultivatable existence where self-nurturing and remaining true to one’s own nature is an impossibility. The Democratic Congressional members that I helped elect have remained silent with the full knowledge of this matter and only a handful of good human beings seem to be listening for the moment. Already a subordinate federal agent directly under the Bush-Cheney administration has telephonically threatened that if I publish a book the government will invent a criminal charge against me. This is not the America that I defended and have nourished. Nevertheless if we are to remain a world of human beings, we the people must publically exam the U.S. government’s ongoing psychological torture of up to 1,080 Non-Criminal Federal Witnesses who are American citizens and your good neighbors. Currently I have established online locations on YouTube, Tribe.net, Comcast, and have posted on the message board at The Ed Schultz Show website where these American citizens can share their stories with other human beings and possibly begin to reclaim their individual sense of self-identity through these communication platforms. One non-criminal federal witness has already communicated they are hiding outside the U.S. to protect themselves from U.S. government torture. Recently I attempted to communicate with a well known actor’s movie studio and was informed that I must have a listed creative agent to represent my story before they will be legally able to communicate with me. Therefore and in as much that I would dare to hope to restore my own life back to the place where it should have already been, I am seeking the representation of a listed Creative Agent, Business Negotiations with members from the Publishing and Motion Picture Industries, and a University Initiative from an accredited School of Journalism where I might combine all of these components within a flourishing academic setting to create a lecture syllabus and continue writing. Please do not think me a selfish person, because I have remained one of the most extroverted and giving human beings you could ever know. This academic and professional prospectus has endured as my long-range plan since beginning this journalism project and is one of the few reasons why I have not ended my own life after experiencing something cousin to an extraordinary rendition to a clandestine blacksite torture facility that exists invisibly within the plain-sight of American society. Please do not let this story die with me and challenge the validity of any member of the Democratic Congress for their repeated failures to respond to several action notices regarding this matter.

Beyond the above I wish to offer one final piece of personal information. When I relocated to this area I had no intention of becoming involved with anyone and had anticipated reclaiming my academic standing to achieve my goals in life. While visiting a local bookstore and coffee house, I met the finest human being whom I have ever known and today that person is my wife. Together we raised our young child from her previous marriage and I have been blessed by the experience of being a father. Had it not been for my wife’s medical insurance I would not be here today writing this story. My wife retires at the end of this year and our child is now attending a university. What that means for me living on a fixed monthly annuity income and having been waited out by the WitSec while my saving depleted is that I will not be able to afford the additional $600.00 a month for my portion of the medical insurance policy. Further I have been unable to move in any direction to build the life that I wanted from the resulting harms caused by the WitSec cocoon that I will address in detail within the redacted report that follows. To protect my family and legally separate myself from my wife in the event of recurring illness, I am preparing to file the divorce papers on my desk. Never will I forgive or forget that the U.S. government under the Bush-Cheney administration has systematically deconstructed my family and prevented my equality as a person and an American citizen while psychologically torturing me in ways that have already killed other Americans who are non-criminal federal witnesses through suicide and medical neglect. This deconstruction of my family unit is comparatively symbolic to the overthrow of the U.S. government infrastructure by the international crime consortium and the same coconspiratorial war profiteers who attacked the United States of America on September 11, 2001. Having lived so long as the shell of an American citizen in title only, if I am unable to be made whole again in America, then as a torture victim and dissident under political persecution I am prepared to request asylum from the government of Canada. Should that fail and if I cannot be restored then I am ready to leave this world for the peace of oblivion and wish each of you mozel tov.

THE QUESTION HAS BEEN ASKED BY A GROWING NUMBER OF HUMAN BROTHERS AND SISTERS, WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP YOU?

First please do not attempt to send any money I believe that it is possible to earn a living with the years invested in this story and I prefer paying my own way, which has remained the purpose of my labors while enduring U.S. government torture. Profoundly from a place of extreme isolation your concerns are priceless gifts that have touched me deeper than words could possibly express and I truly feel your human warmth and compassion.

Beyond that human inclusion the most important act of support is not to let this story die from a lack of response or another empty promise by the congress just so this matter will be “disappeared” like the 1,080 American patriots who are non-criminal federal witnesses in the Federal Witness Protection Program. Please meditate for the good energy of the universe to encompass the lives of all human beings and continue to contact any person or organization who will if nothing else at least feel the truth of this torture story: Democratic Party headquarters around the nation; elected representatives who truly wish to remain in office; U.S. and international human rights organizations; members of the progressive news media (The Ed Schultz Show, Air America Radio, Democracy Now, The Nation Magazine, I.N.N. International News Net, Studs Terkel, the ACLU, Civil Rights Attorneys; etc.); the free and independent sovereign nations of the world (Vancouver BC, Canada, UK, Italy, Spain; etc.); the International Court of Justice aka the World Court and Cour internationale de Justice; and any other conduit of communication that might wish to know, share or actuate this true story.

Ms. Oprah Winfrey and Mr. George Clooney are two people whom I admire for their humanitarian and creative contributions to the world. With their support this story will not be silenced and human lives will be saved. A little experiment

It's official. I've completely lost my mind. Okay, okay so I actually was born without one (Thanks Mom!), but this is proof I need a bit of help. I've decided to do two experiments at once. One, is to see how much slush I can go through in one twenty four hour period without killing myself or running away from this business entirely. And Two, to see how far and wide the internet can carry this in just a few days.

So, on Monday May 28th 2007 I will be read as much slush as I can. In order to make this effective, I'll need much more slush. Right now, I just don't have enough to make this part entertaining for me. So, if you have something to submit, send it, if you know someone else who has something, make them send it. The email address will go active sometime Friday the 24th during the day. And stay open until about 8 am on May 28th. Each submission will get an auto response from my website; keep this as your receipt.

As enticement, every single submission received during this period is guaranteed to get at least one chapter read and critiqued. If, and only if it follows the complete submission guidelines as described on my website; www.onyxhawke.com , and isn't bad enough to make Baby Cthulhu cry.

The Writer’s Travel Scholarship is an annual writing contest, now in its third year. The winner recieves a round-trip ticket to anywhere in the world. Really.

This time around the event has special significance for me, because I am myself travelling again. I write these words from the remote village of Ghourma-Rharous, a town of 3000 on the Niger river in northern Mali. Despite the river, this place is well and truly the Sahara, and the daytime temperature exceeds 40 degrees celcius. It is also the most remote place I’ve ever been to; the nearest paved road is hundreds of kilometers away, and there is no running water or electricity here. Except, of course, at the offices of the local aid agency which has a generator, and also a microwave-relay internet connection. In a place where most of the population is illiterate and starving, I’ve found a solid 128kps line. The world is a very strange place.

I’m learning, rapidly. And I’m writing about it.

Are you writing too? Not about the remote places in the world, perhaps, but about something that matters to you? If so, please enter the 2007 Writer’s Travel Scholarship. As usual, the prize is a round-trip ticket anywhere in the world. As usual, the basic rationale for the contest remains:

I think travel is good. I think writing is good. I think it is important that writers travel.

The Writer’s Travel Scholarship is my attempt to like to support the entwined causes of understanding and communication. Oh, I’ve written paragraphs before trying to explain why I think this is so important, but I’ve given all that up now. If you have to ask, I probably can’t explain it to you in the space of a contest announcement. Besides, I have better things to write today.

As before, I would like to make it clear that I am not specifically calling for travel writing. Write about your pet dog, if you can do it in an interesting an enlightening way. This contest is not about travel writing but writers travelling.

Now Acccepting Poetry! This is a change from prior years. How one can judge poetry against prose is something of a mystery to me, but then, I can’t really explain in any formal way how I (and my literary friends) judge one piece of prose against another either. Some writing is simply better than others. So this is something of an experiment, and hopefully we’ll see some interesting poems in with the prose pieces. Just make it good, okay?

On to the details:

* Applicants must submit a short piece, 10,000 words maximum. Fiction, non-fiction, whatever, poetry or prose, on any topic.

* Also tell me a little about yourself, where you would go with your free ticket, for how long, and why. You can’t ever have been to that country before — I impose this restriction to encourage people to go somewhere new, rather than using the ticket to visit their overseas girlfriend. You don’t have to write about your destination. I just want to know what about it inspires you to go through the considerable effort required to actually travel there.

* Email entries as an attached document in text or Word format to wts (at) equivocality (dot) net by May 31st 2007. They will be judged by myself and my writer friends, the winner to be announced on June 15th 2007.

* Entries must be previously unpublished, there is a limit of one entry per author, and the ticket is limited to $2000 US. I will book the cheapest available round-trip ticket, based on departure and return dates given to me by the winner. I will try to accomdate these dates and other preferences as much as possible, but I reserve the right to shift each date plus or minus up to a week, and to make other choices such as routing and airline, in order to find the best fare. Other travel requirements, such as additional destinations or an open return date, may be accommodated if the winner wishes to make up the difference in cost.

Three parallel buses hurtle through discontinuities in time, space and dimension associated with the catastrophic climate changes accompanying the end of the era of Kali, the Indian Goddess of death and rebirth.
Using a shifting-perspective internal narrator, Blues4Kali uses graphic metaphor and symbolic structure to convey ideas about this pending cataclysm and the crumbling civilization facing it.

pigeons, filthy birds. new york city, filthy place. gross, smelly people riding the subway. smells like fried chicken, bones on the floor, under the seats, and i hate fried chicken. woman eating mcdonald's french fries across from me, little curly, greasy, yellow worms crawling through her fingers. grime stains the bag from where they came. a kid with chocolate, shiny hands stubling aimlessly in my direction when the train lurches, like a flying florida cockroach, blind and diving right for me, probably landing in my hair. the fat man, whose suit is too tight, farts. a guy with ragged clothes and no shoes walks through singing, while his toenails rot. he stinks. my shoes stick to the floor when i try to move my feet. i put my hand to my face, wishing it was a gas mask. i can't breathe, there is no air, only aromas. people read the daily news and the post for the stories about Oj simpson and the poor boy in harlem who died playing on top of an elevator in a tenement. the black woman thinks i'm an evil spirit, a devil, a brown eyed devil. the white woman stares at my face and my clothes, probably wondering how much my shoes cost. children stare, wonder what they think. old pinkish white man with vaseline in his hair and shiny fancy shoes watches me get up for my stop. i become "adult entertainment" unwillingly. old man, do you see me naked? i bet i don't smell like your wife and kids and dog. if i speak, does it break the spell?

Healing or stealing

I would like introduce myself and inadvently earn my bones. So here is my freestyle. The title is above and it has been trademark for you industrous individuals :)

"Leave and breathe with all your heart because life goes on" This is a lyric that rings true and even when there is a deficiency with every system there is an adaptation that compensates for this. Kleptomanics treatment for thier deviance is an voltage which is foddered or fostered by societal activation which effortless best reinforces this inherently dysfuntional trait as it can grossly be generalised that taking something that is not yours or is not earned is not recognised with respect or endowed with elevated social status unless garnered thorough honest hard work and with efficient mechanisms like honesty, fortitude and reverence much like that which is evident in the profoundly uncomplicated and effortlessly veracious sincere utterances of Fortune 500 CEO's.

But enough of the understated remarks and let us realign duplicit dealings with the ill habit of pick pocketing, shoplifting and salemanship as remarkly direspected means of earning a living unless you are the third capo di tutti capi in line and have a mission to feed your family becuase this really is what it is all about. If you don't feed your family will not survive and that is often disregarded as an admirable trait in a court of law unless you are O.J Simpson then please don't hesitant to make that allegedly lewd, malicious, and treacherously beautiful lady "sleep with the fishes".

So what started as a licence to live and let live has moved under the guise of criminal intent to a comtempibly despicable grey area of honourable actions and respect. Hmm, how simple it can be to be a well-adjusted positively contributing member of society even when diagnosed with a incurable , mentally rooted Freudian profiled illness such as kleptomania.

Ooohh someone make my mummy come into the room dressed as Mother Theresa, i just contributed my illgotten gains to the benefit of psychiatric research and i got the need to watch her suckle on my primary gamete producer effusively. Opp i just gave up the innucuous rationale for urban deviance so please guys don't look away when steve comes to you inviting you over for a night cap. He has done his fair share for society and will also include his room mate Christina.

Article: OK, Your Book is Printed … Now What!

Many years ago when I worked in camera store, a customer came in one day with a very old roll of unexposed B&W film. He wanted to buy a camera that would fit that type of film so he could use up the film. The film was so old, all camera manufactures had long since quite making cameras that would take that type of film. I explained to him that the roll of film was worth maybe $2.00 (if it was still any good) and suggested he throw out the old film and consider a new camera and wooowooo “color” film. He thanked and left with is old roll of film.

I think about this story quite often when I am dealing with authors and writers. They have such knowledge and enthusiasm for their ideas and topics, unfortunately many of them, especially new writers and authors seldom give little if any thought to who will be buying their books and where and how they will be getting them.

I often ask these writers, “who is going to be the recipient of your book?” Most writers simply tell me “they are going to sell them”. My next question is “where will you sell them?” Most people respond with “bookstores and the Internet”. Then the tough question, “and how are you going to go about doing this?” That’s when I get met with a blank stare.

Many writers, especially new ones, have often given little thought to where and how they are going to go about selling and distributing their books. When you think about it, most new authors and writers are so absorbed in their manuscripts they have little time to even think about selling their books, aside from a few fleeting thoughts. I tell all of them, the purpose of printing your own book is to get it into the hands of readers. Getting books into the hands of readers can be done many ways.

Some people write and print small runs of books, solely for immediate family and friends. Others have more lofty regional, national and international distribution ideas. Both ideas of getting books into reader’s hands are good, but one takes much more thought and much more work than the other, but both have the right idea.

I was interviewed by a television Creative Director a short time ago; she asked me “what advice could you pass along to anyone thinking about writing their first book.” My answer was immediate and definite “think about who the audience is for your book and how you will go about getting that book into the hands of your audience”. I went on to tell her, if every author thought about who their audience was, and how they were going to market their book, they would have a much better chance of having a more successful book project, that everyone would benefit more from … the author, the printer and most of all the readers.

What I hate seeing, are talented authors with wonderful manuscripts or books, trying to determine after the fact how and were they can sell their books. In many ways they are no different than the young man I encountered years ago who had a roll of film and was looking for a place to use it, the film, just like a manuscript … not matter how good it is, needs to have place for it to fit in.

Journal Entry

I am suffering right now. i am focusing myself in meditation and reflection to ease that suffering.

sometimes i wish myself to harden my heart, to close down, to safeguard against another imperfect human... to safeguard myself against my own mistaken actions...

sometimes i want to go far away.. another everything...
sometimes i want other people to go far away... time & space
sometimes i want to be cared about so much that another would make sure they never hurt me...
sometimes i want to be irreplaceable and unforgettable..
sometimes i wish that noone knew me at all...
sometimes i fear that noone really knows me at all.

Throughout my life i have had to just experience the pain, retreat, reflect,
and then it seems,
i always go back out there and offer my love.
incredibly, i aways reach out for Love's hand...

Dialogue Advice

I am stuck in my own little hell. I'm working on a long-term project. However, I am detterred by dubious dialogue. Descriptive passages go well, internal monologue goes well, but my dialogue seems stilted to me. It really makes me want to give up, sometimes. Has anyone here dealt with this and overcome it? Any advice for me?

Emotional Graveyard

Tortured by memories, a relentless sadistic mind-rape

If you want a bizarre' tale check out the thread "SOMNAMBULANCE my great sticker idea" in the "Off-Topic" forum at <www.fordfestiva.com> where I mention near the current end about Eureka cops telling one of Floyd Squires' agents while they were out of town that I was a fire-bug and setting fires in the Broadway Mall-that nearly got me evicted.(the day before X-mas morning in '97 and including a free ride to Semper Virons[and over night stay asking for legal representation] with a cop who I embarased for dissing another female porker he'd pulled male precident over after she'd been obviously out of line previous with me to his second cop car showing up on the scene in responding to a call from MIKE'S DRIVE-UP because I'd been relating a story about YANKEE HOBO IN THE ORIENT author John Patric he'd printed in his weekly SATURDAY EVENING FREE PRESS["Sodomish cesspool town on the skids" etc.] about a couple of local cops in Snohomish, WA hired soon after he'd begun publishing in '57 who the city employed not long after they'd been fired from Boeings as security guards for stealing who when he'd published this info had visited him one night and beaten him and left him for dead and lit his house on fire who I'd spent part of the summer of '67 working for at his place in town bidding my jobs and often hanging out till dawn hearing him talk of his adventures and then riding five miles on my black 24" Schwinn Racer 3-speed bike home along the Snohomish River past the GAR cemetery and up Green Lantern Road to where my family lived across the street from farmer Clarke Aubert and climbing into bed in my own bedroom [with a stained glass window onto our living room in a house with seven additions and still modest-sized with two cisterns installed by people from Kansas ignorant we guessed of the climate there] before any of my parents or four younger sisters were awake though long since light out-the really odd thing is the morning after I'd gotten dropped off at 1803 C Street by one of the employees at Semper Virons I'd walked to where I'd left an '84 Mazda brown long bed pick-up I'd gotten from James Looney in Onion Creek,["as featured in HIGH TIMES magazine"] WA August 17th of '97 that had just been unable to get back to the place on C because the clutch had gone out so that I wanted to make sure the truck was fine and walking back to the apartment there at C I noticed the roof of the house across the street owned by Jehovah Witnesses was on fire due to the habit of the owner using old rail road ties in their furnace and so I'd told a man walking towards me oddly enough to let them know their house was on fire and I'd roused their neighbor[with ITLNSTLN vanity plates on his black Ford pick-up] to get his garden hose out to try to fight the blaze on his neighbor's roof until the FD showed up and who tried to tell me the roof fire was not due to creosote soaked railroad ties; etc.)

BTW this is an email I opened the morning of the first day of my 56th year out of the womb.(8-4-06-born 4:11 a. m. in Longview, WA)

very strong suit for you to wear. So wear it proudly my friend. I feel the same about my playing
Drums And the differnt types of music I have attempted in the 65yrs of my musical journey! When
asked what I did for a living besides playing drums? I would tell them. Playing Drums Was my
Career! If I Wanted a hobby, I might become a Brain surgeon! I am happy to meet another Jazz
musician Bob. I started playing as a Professional in 1937 in Bakersfield, Ca. where I grew up.
Bakersfield had a lot of good music in those days. Today??. A lot of water under a lot of bridges
Bob.For us Both! I do remember Bert Wilson. And in the 50s and 60s during the West Jazz days,
I was right there in the middle of it! And also played in "The New Jazz Trio" And "The New World
Jazz Co. In the 60s. And then went into R/ROLL in 64/65! And the Rest as they say is Hysterical..
It would be nice if we could get together at some point in the near future and share some thoughts.
I stay close to home these days. And do most of my driving locally here in Arroyo Grande, Ca. I still
Practice on my aging drum kit that I have set up at a storage place close by. But There are not too
many calls for 83yr old drummers who can still play. And that is cool with me. Because there is not
many left I Want To Play With. Anyway! Right? Right. Sorry to hear about your acupuncturist.
I did enjoy looking at several of your listed photos. Well Bob. I hope I haven't bored you to much with
my ramblings. I f you ever plan on getting up my way, Drop by and say hi. It would be a pleasure for me.

I hope my obvious point and its relevance to the Arcatan situation of the masses of interactive/abusive street people there was not missed.

The obvious being the mass institutional abuses of school children by psychiatric medications and the huge multinational profit driven pharmacutical industry. In a situation where drugs are being used to adapt a whole society to a failing and pernicious system.

I think that is mirrored in the drug use of Arcata and that is also largely if not exclusively profit driven and yet romanticised as counter-culture and with the retro '60s identity of Arcata as "Berkeley North."

In the mid '90s just before breaking down and being stranded in Eureka April of '96 traveling from the east bay to Olympia, WA for a 25 year band renunion of a group called OBRADOR there(<www.obrador.org>) I'd just gone on air on FREE RADIO BERKELEY as a regular sub for activist/spokesperson Yukon Hannibal on his regular Friday morning weekly show THE REVOLUTIONARY SPIRIT and have probabley been disappointed ever since to've not had the opprotunity to continue at that.

I think Arcata and the "NO-HUM" situation that is inclusive(I call myself an "Eurcatan") suffers and benefits both from being parochial, provincial and isolated. And my notion is that the benefits are contemptible and the suffering heroic. That said the situation is wholey evolutionary, the aspects of revolution that are necessarily subtle so that I feel both frustrated and empowered and survive as I'd probabley never of been able to as a homeless tranisient "vehicular resident" in the east bay.(where I also was involved as a "presence" living out of my rigs at the peace vigil site at the Concord Naval Weapons Station I'd discovered accidentally one day early in '93 riding the BART with my ten-speed looking for a nearby VW wrecking yard and smoking a joint with Greg Getty who was the dynamic bay area activist who maintains the peace vigil there amongst his many incredible services to a community he loves)

I thought the relevancy to Arcata obvious. Running the gauntlet in front of the row of bars on the north side of the plaza is remniscent for instance. To me relevancy is that which seems relevant and the idea of simplistic resistance is one obvious theme of the place even if you may believe in some higher order also.(or "higher," as the case may be)

There are all sorts of derelicts running around town whose mentality has even less connection to any sort of concensus reality than my post does and the fact of their being there makes them obviously relevant.

Plus since Eugene is not only regional but another hippy/New Age/quasi-progressive at least backwater that adds relevancy.

Frankly I'd feel censored if my post were removed and have to wonder why?(another stupid chore)

Plus now that I think of it. The underlying theme for me of ADHD W/O DRUGS? is commentary on the lack of real leftist rebellion in Amerika the past 40 years. If as Che says its a blessing to be living in the maw of the beast there seems at least a tendency to capitulate and allow ones own egocentrism free rein rather than to organise and win out over the obvious evil. Maybe the situation I wrote of was one of the last times I was really empowered?

BTW I did think of another woman teaching there whose class I was in one of the two years I was at Colin Kelly Junior High. This was a social sciences class which was probabley along the lines of World History and though I don't remember her name she was more in control and able to enjoy her experiences. The thing that focused her in my mind was an experience with a friend of mine named Larry Libby also in the same class. There was a wall of windows on one side of the classroom that faced onto a courtyard with other classrooms on the other three sides and growing under our windows was a row of bamboo plants and which we'd been told grew up to an inch a day and which had fascinated at least a few if not more of us.

I'd been able to tell Larry Libby he could actually see the plants grow if he watched them and had gotten him to lean out of one of the open lower windows that opened from the top and pivoting inward towards the courtyard and when he did so I grabbed him by the ankles and dumped him head first into the courtyard and probabley onto the row of growing bamboo plants.

I don't know why Larry was so vulnerable to this sort of suggestion unless he were just such a good friend we enjoyed following each others leads out of kindness and respect, but I also got him to fall for the exact same prank in Mr. Goldsmith's general science class and even though there was no bamboo and the fall to the ground below was much more of a distance though not very dangerous either.

He'd been my partner in one of my most thoughtful adventures in that era of my life when we'd managed to divine a successful solution to the lawn moths that were plaguing the yard of my family's home who ate the roots of the grass so that it died and turned brown and which could then be lifted from the ground like a carpet.

We'd gone to Emerald Park where there was a nice large swamp that was a sort of local wilderness many youths enjoyed exploring and we collected two large paper grocery bags full of tree frogs.(the small green frogs that were so prevalent then and the joys of many a child that are now becoming extinct due to their sensitivity to air pollution) After collecting the tree frogs we released them in our yard and they apparently had a real appetite for lawn moths as the yard was soon restored and healthy. My only regret was every time I mowed the lawn with our rotary mower(which was my regular chore) my ankles were covered with the mascerated bodies of my good and serviceful friends and which made me feel a great injustice as a twelve year-old.

So, in a way now this story also contains relevancy from an ecological point of view.

And if you doubt it my sympathies were mostly driven in writing my original post to the painful situation of Mrs Shelley. So that is a relevancy assuming the general character of Arcata is against the abuses of woman that as a child I'd been drawn into unwittingly by the prevailing repressive character of the situation.

I'm thinking now that the moderator's general philosophy and ideas about what that person's ideas of relevancy in this situation and with this tribe are should be expressed. And especially since I feel my thoughts here are relevant to Arcatans. Is this a forum for the mechanics and materialist concerns of the community or also for the edification of any intellectual imagination or striving.(?) Please if you might be willing also discuss exactly why and how you may think my post irrelevant? This would certainly help me to understand better the nature of the tribe and how it is functioning.(etc.)

ADHD W/O DRUGS?

Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder was something I and my comrades were suffering in the seventh grade the Spring of '64 at Colin Kelly Junior High in Eugene, OR and long before there was a name for it other than perhaps "juvenile delinquent."(when punks were still mostly used for lighting fuses)

Particularly interesting in my case was Mrs Shelley's seventh grade "New Math" class and perhaps the reason I never did well in math or algebra after that(etc.); from the truama we were made to ultimately suffer.(something held in mind for me at least that has soured considerabley since the triumph it once had seemed)

At first this seemed like a pretty good time considering the profound lack of inspiration or information being transmitted by poor dumpy old Mrs. Shelley.(tousled greying dark hair off her shoulders and favoring dark slightly formal shifts who the incident gave a nickname which is more than can be said of any other thus named educator at the institution and that hardly lacked for popularity-I think that "uneducating plant" of the early '60s must've been one of the dullest institutions ever created a cadre' of rarely challenged male faculty held tight domain over relative to their own interests at least and where no other female personality has made the slightest impression on me of any other woman being employed there though I can think of several from River Road Grade School I'd spent the previous six years at a mile or so away)

I chanced to have a seat at the very back of the class facing a long blackboard where she stood valiently trying to interest us, but rarely or ever did. Above the blackboard was a vertical wall of large windows facing West that ran the whole wing of three classrooms where the afternoon sun came in and made Spring days warm or even sweaty sitting directly in the beam of the day sky orb.(soccer hadn't made its challenges and outdoors hoops wasn't popular either)

Then most young men were concerned about their hair being in place and purchased odd concoctions in tubes like toothpaste for the purpose that laid your tresses down flat, slick and with a sheen, but that was not a pleasant substance to encounter or leave traces of anywhere.(credited with male balding syndrome by certain unscientific sources of more nordic persuasions) To the purpose of keeping the advantages of this treatment in order every swain or potential swain carried a pocket comb and a mirror the size of a credit card to preen in and correct any misalignments whenever the cause came to mind.(little GREASERS in other words except there was one too many a blond in our midst to ever allow the image to settle very well in my mind)

Somehow armed with such a device came a time when I learned to hold my small mirror to the sun and train the reflection on the back of Mrs. Shelley's head whenever she was turned to the blackboard writing which was often.

This was soon to become a tactic where every one of us sitting in the back row had a mirror we focused on the back of her head and then when she turned around to face the class for whatever reasons she'd be momentarily blinded as the rest of the class unloaded whatever they'd saved out of their lunches or had brought expressly for the purpose at Mrs. Shelley or anywhere on the blackboard in her region. I remember then that a small red filbert sized device called a "cherry bomb" that could be purchased at any Mom and Pop and which would explode on impact if thrown hard enough was particularly popular or eggs that were begining to go bad or had already done so though any more or less moist sandwich filler was also effective.*(the classic spit wad was far too sanitary in this situation and more for ones peer adversarys)

Her sole method of retaliation was to try to identify anyone involved and she sent me to the vice principle's office at least a couple of times though she couldn't of been too efficient considering our offenses since they never expelled me.

The situation culminated as none of us had expected when during a barrage and without turning away from the blackboard she suddenly vacated her bowels vigorously and involuntarily in a copious mostly liquid browness that drained before us down the insides of her legs and likely upsetting no one but herself though that individual deeply suffered.

When she left us then exiting without ceremony as quickly as any dignity left her and whatever care for not slipping and falling would allow that was the last time she was seen at Colin Kelly Junior High and we heard she took an early retirement.

Sometimes if you think about it maybe the veil isn't such a horrible institution as its made out to be is my thought of the moment.(?)

*I'd been very much a ballistics engineer and one great success was a method of making projectiles that could be propelled with a rubber band streched between the thumb and forefinger,(crossbows were popular to try to fashion with pencil bows on wooden rulers though none ever seemed effective, but we were allowed to make real ones in shop class using both aluminum and fiberglass laminate bows) A metal paper clip unbent and then rebent to form a narrow vee was reserved for only serious personal vendetas or to practice with to sharpen skills. One of my inventions was of nearly as much volition and accuracy, but much less a danger of causing eye injury.(constant cautioning about the vulnerability of the eyes was a catholic theme) A length of paper of around two inches width was carefully torn from a sheet of paper by first folding and then creasing with a fingernail to get the tear as good as a pair of scissors would make. A reasonable length was thoroughly moistened with saliva and rolled tightly so on an exemplary effort there was only a small tube formed at the center then this was bent in half and could be launched with a rubber band very effectively and which would carry for nearly the distance a paper clip would.(the tube could be eliminated entirely, but then the bend was more difficult and less effective or the tube would tear and break)

My favorite target was to see if from the alto saxophone section in band I could get one of my projectiles in the bell of a sousaphone.(this was why a rubber band was effective since they allowed one covert operation)

But, I still have to imagine that Mr. Franz our band director must've taken his time considering my punishment before constraining me.

I'd been made to stay after class which was expected and in most situations at that school a not very enjoyable time where one was made to sit and contemplate their transgression(s) in silence for an hour or two depending upon the crime before being released to more enjoyable pursuits at worst an afternoon spent in front of a television waiting for dinner, but which could be definitely more interesting as there was a park with a large swamp and a railroad hump yard both easily visitable and the Willamette River and the adjacent considerable wilderness suitable to hobos as sanctuary was within easy bicycle range or not very long walk.(homework could be done in either situation and was usually avoided in both)

Having never been made to stay after in band before and so expecting much the same there instead Mr. Franz had rolled out a record player I'd never seen before that was a large blond wooden institutional model like a cupboard. He had me sit alone while he worked in his office with a window where he was always visible throughout the experience and listen to a recording of Leonard Bernstein trying to get Ben Webster to play without a vibrato who every time he tried broke up laughing.

on-line humor/punk rock zine needs some kick ass writers

Hey everybody. I am starting a new on-line 'zine sort of thing called 'i dunno'. it's mainly an outlet for funny/creative writing, as well as pop culture and punk rock. It's a pretty goofy website, and I'm hoping that the strength of the writing on 'i dunno' will be enough to make up for my lack of web design skills. Basically, it's a forum for making fun of anything and quite possibly everything.

But the problem is, I need some help with the writing duties. i just started the website a few days ago, and already I'm extremely anxious to get some content to it, so that I can start trying to get people to come check this shit out. But having a lot of content is hard to do if you're just a one-man operation. So any strong funny/creative writers want to help a brother out?

start. The intention is for the participants to speak from their truth
regarding common themes that we may often think about such as: one's

grades, no judging, and no tuition.

I am Robert Cloud, an author of a new novel that will be hitting eBook markets and paperback in Feb 2006.
My novel is an erotic D/s Romance unlike any ever written, and yes, I know you have heard that before. Truth is I am not the one that first said that, that came from a critic in the pre-release forums. There are talks of collector's editions, a series of books and even movie rights.
I feel like I am in a dream.. lol..

The publisher I am with is actively seeking new authors but it must be of a romantic nature (sorry still ahppily ever after endings, though soon that will change) but in any genre, horror, scifi, paranormal, historical, contempory, dark, kink, any thing you can think of.

The Editor and Owner of the company id an established author but under contract with her previous works to other publishers. She got tired of the BS and decided to start her own, she will read all submission and if a work is not suited to her firm she will give a contructive critique, often telling you what would be needed to make it work.

I am very impressed with her work.
The Publisher is new though, but do not be fooled by its volume at this time. She has been picky on the quality, but she has contracts with amazon.com and some brick and mortar establishments. All works published there will be available in PDF, HTML eBook versions and paperback within 2 to 4 weeks after the release of the eBook.

The current available book is called "Fool Me Once" by Jessican Joy. To be honest I am not a Romance reader, preferring Scifi, Horror, Paranormal, or fantasy. However I ahve been reading since I was 5 and in the 39 years since I began reading I have never had a book hook me to the point I had to finish it then. This was the first book I have ever stayed up all night to finish.

The site will also be offering workshops and chat sessions for authors and reviewers.

Okay.. yes.. this is a shameless self promotion and I have always hated these things, but I am truly excited and I feel this is a good opportunity for any truly serious author.

National Novel Writing Month

When I first heard about this a few days ago, I about flipped with excitement. One of my biggest problems as a writer is that if I can put off sitting down to write, I'll put it off...I'm a terrible procrastinator. However, I can churn out the words like mad for hours if I have a deadline...a goal to work towards that isn't just something I set for myself. I don't feel confident that I could write a 5000 word story on my own motivation alone, but I'm positive that I can pull off NaNoWriMo as long as nothing unusual happens in my life in November.

Is anyone else going to try this? Does anyone else have my problem of procrastinating digging into the actual writing even when you're skull feels like it's going to burst from all the stuff you want to write? I'll spend hours in a day thinking about writing...but not spend any actual time writing.

Katrina and George, sitting in a tree... an article about the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, it's victims, George W. Bush, and what could have been done...

Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath have shaken the very foundations of New Orleans and the nation...

Though I live in the Bay Area, and it's been rumored that we may eventually fall into the Pacific Ocean or be blown off the map by a North Korean 'nucular', or rather, excuse me, nuclear warhead, it's truly difficult to imagine such a thing happening to any of us. Nonetheless, when hundreds of thousands of people are out of a home, a job, a lifestyle, a life, family members and friends, not knowing what the next day has in store, there's no comprehending how emotionally distraught these people must collectively feel.

In light of this, we must not dismiss the fact that the silver-spooned bubble boy George W. Bush, his immoral cabinet of puppeteers, and all of his amoral corporate buddies are greatly to blame for this happening and its aftermath. As with the war in Iraq and the attacks on the twin towers, these events were long ago foreseen. And with the foresight that was made available, these events could have been prevented, or at least the destruction and loss of life could have been minimized with a contingency plan in place.

With regard to Bush's past actions and present inactions, why was Hurricane Katrina so much more devastating than it need be?

(1) Over the past year George W. Bush sent a significant percentage (I believe over 50%) of our National Guard to join the regular military in fighting an oil war, based on a set of well documented lies, to benefit his wealthy buddies, leaving the "homeland" mostly unattended. (2) A few years ago, the Bush administration "cut New Orleans flood control funding by 44 percent to pay for the Iraq war". (3) "The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers proposed to study how New Orleans could be protected from a catastrophic hurricane, but the Bush administration ordered that the research not be undertaken". (4) "In early 2001, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) issued a report stating that a hurricane striking New Orleans was one of the three most likely disasters in the U.S., including a terrorist attack on New York City. But by 2003 the federal funding for the flood control project essentially dried up as it was drained into the Iraq war. (5) In 2004, the Bush administration cut funding requested by the New Orleans district of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for holding back the waters of Lake Pontchartrain by more than 80 percent." (6) "The Bush administration's policy of turning over wetlands to developers almost certainly also contributed to the heightened level of the storm surge." (note - the statements in quotes are borrowed from Sidney Blumenthal's article below, originally published in the magazine Spiegel titled, "No One Can Say they Didn't See it Coming")

Anyhow, It took three to four days after Hurricane Katrina before assistance arrived to New Orleans in any noticible form, then on Friday, five days after Hurricane Katrina, what was to be a flight to survey New Orleans from the air in Airforce One turned into Bush making a brief press photo appearance at Louis Armstrong International Airport in Kenner, fifteen miles from New Orleans. Meanwhile, tens of thousands of New Orleanians, most of whom were poor and black, and many who were old and infirmed, or very young, were going on their fifth day without the basic necessities for survival, scraping for their very lives as they struggled to maintain their sanity. It was a travesty, because, to my knowledge, there weren't even any efforts to drop fresh water, food, blankets, medical supplies, and perhaps a couple hundred Port-a-Johns at the Superdome and convention center.

Now maybe this is just my curiosity getting the best of me, but I wonder what might have been the response if the people standing outside the Superdome and the Convention Center were white, middle and upper classed Christian folk? And I also can't help wonder what the response would have been if this were a terrorist attack on New Orleans? Wouldn't blowing up one of the levees have been a pretty good target for terrorists? And what of the billions of dollars that were supposedly funneled into local and regional agencies to deal with such an emergency?

How many tragedies must happen and high crimes need be committed before the American People understand that George W. Bush doesn't have the best interests of the People who he supposedly leads and serves. In my estimation, he only has the interests of acquiring resources, wealth, and power for his megalomaniacal friends and of inflating his ego. And he is more than simply unfit to lead, he is truly a terrible leader, and most certainly a dangerous representative to the ideas set forth in our Constitution and Bill of Rights: ideals that he repeatedly proselytizes, using the words 'freedom' and 'Democracy' in the form of repetitive and simplistic soundbites to justify his position to the rest of the world.

He, the neo-Conservatives, and increasingly much of America have confused Democracy with Laissez Faire Capitalism. To further provide a means to their power grabbing ends, his administration has created a new enemy to fill the vacant space left behind by the Soviets, yet making our nation even more fearful by declaring war on the noun "Terrorism", which is for all practical purposes impossible, and signals a never ending war. With regard to Katrina and knowing George's propensity for saying and doing dumb things, it wouldn't surprise me if he now declared Mother Nature - greatly affected by Global Warming, a direct product of our irresponsibility - a terrorist...

After a semblance of peace is restored to the devastated deep South, it is my opinion that George W. Bush should be impeached. This impeachment would be on the grounds that he has clearly proven, beyond a reasonable doubt, that he is an inept and irresponsible leader. And being that he and many of his cohorts have committed high crimes, they should then be tried by an independent court as criminals and enemies of the American People. For has it not been well documented in the mainstream media that his administration has lied, deceived, misappropriated public funds, tortured prisoners, and perpetrated conscious conflicts of interest in an official capacity (ie. ignoring seperations of Church and State, participating in illicit dealings and price gouging with corporations such as Enron) while misrepresenting the American people to the rest of the world and thumbing his nose at our allies on numerous occasions?

And is it not clear that the crimes George W. Bush has committed are infinitely worse than the so-called crimes of former president Clinton: who was caught in an extramarital affair with a consenting adult (possibly a shill), then caught for telling a lie to a question there was never a legitimate reason for asking in the first place? What had this to do with leadership?

After Bush's impeachment, I then ask would it be unreasonable to open an independent investigation as to the elections in 2000 and 2004, where voter fraud is suspected? Then should we perhaps appoint an independent commission to further investigate the many and various unanswered questions with regard to 9-11? Then, should we allow Bush and his officers to be tried, as have many an abusive world leader, by the International Criminal Court system in the Hague, as war criminals and violators of human rights? For isn't it true that many of our own troops and the troops of our allies, along with hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and Afghanis been killed, maimed, or subjugated to inhumane treatment? I'm out of breath, as the list seemingly goes on and on...

For a moment though let me come back to the present... please consider sending donations of money, food, and clothing to reputable non-profits, and consider opening your homes to these refugees, then, after things calm down a bit, if you're able, go to New Orleans to help people restore their homes and their lives... but please, don't forget what has been happening before our very eyes. Because when the drama resulting from Hurricane Katrina is over, many of the fast food eating, short-attention spanned people from middle America and the mainstream public, who aren't directly affected by or involved in this catastrophe, will simply change the channel and go back to their mind numbing daily routine, choosing to forget, because it's just too uncomfortable to consider any real change.

We're at a crossroads, for at this time the People of this nation must either choose to see beyond the veil of lies and mistruths that the corporate media and this administration's propaganda demands we believe, or simply acquiesce and therefore morally and financially bankrupt our nation. Bush and his friends must no longer have their way with our Constitutional rights, our flag, our civil liberties, our public monies, and our defensive forces.

We must choose, with a passion, to impeach George W. Bush and the entirety of the Bush administration, then we must systematically remove the people in high ranking and highly affective areas who he has put in place while declawing the corporate interests that have demonstrated that they have no one's well being in mind except for that of the stock holder.

In 2001, FEMA warned that a hurricane striking New Orleans was one of the three most likely disasters in the U.S. But the Bush administration cut New Orleans flood control funding by 44 percent to pay for the Iraq war.

Biblical in its uncontrolled rage and scope, Hurricane Katrina has left millions of Americans to scavenge for food and shelter and hundreds to thousands reportedly dead. With its main levee broken, the evacuated city of New Orleans has become part of the Gulf of Mexico. But the damage wrought by the hurricane may not entirely be the result of an act of nature.

A year ago the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers proposed to study how New Orleans could be protected from a catastrophic hurricane, but the Bush administration ordered that the research not be undertaken. After a flood killed six people in 1995, Congress created the Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project, in which the Corps of Engineers strengthened and renovated levees and pumping stations. In early 2001, the Federal Emergency Management Agency issued a report stating that a hurricane striking New Orleans was one of the three most likely disasters in the U.S., including a terrorist attack on New York City. But by 2003 the federal funding for the flood control project essentially dried up as it was drained into the Iraq war. In 2004, the Bush administration cut funding requested by the New Orleans district of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for holding back the waters of Lake Pontchartrain by more than 80 percent. Additional cuts at the beginning of this year (for a total reduction in funding of 44.2 percent since 2001) forced the New Orleans district of the Corps to impose a hiring freeze. The Senate had debated adding funds for fixing New Orleans' levees, but it was too late.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune, which before the hurricane published a series on the federal funding problem, and whose presses are now underwater, reported online: "No one can say they didn't see it coming ... Now in the wake of one of the worst storms ever, serious questions are being asked about the lack of preparation."

The Bush administration's policy of turning over wetlands to developers almost certainly also contributed to the heightened level of the storm surge. In 1990, a federal task force began restoring lost wetlands surrounding New Orleans. Every two miles of wetland between the Crescent City and the Gulf reduces a surge by half a foot. Bush had promised "no net loss" of wetlands, a policy launched by his father's administration and bolstered by President Clinton. But he reversed his approach in 2003, unleashing the developers. The Army Corps of Engineers and the Environmental Protection Agency then announced they could no longer protect wetlands unless they were somehow related to interstate commerce.

In response to this potential crisis, four leading environmental groups conducted a joint expert study, concluding in 2004 that without wetlands protection New Orleans could be devastated by an ordinary, much less a Category 4 or 5, hurricane. "There's no way to describe how mindless a policy that is when it comes to wetlands protection," said one of the report's authors. The chairman of the White House's Council on Environmental Quality dismissed the study as "highly questionable," and boasted, "Everybody loves what we're doing."

"My administration's climate change policy will be science based," President Bush declared in June 2001. But in 2002, when the Environmental Protection Agency submitted a study on global warming to the United Nations reflecting its expert research, Bush derided it as "a report put out by a bureaucracy," and excised the climate change assessment from the agency's annual report. The next year, when the EPA issued its first comprehensive "Report on the Environment," stating, "Climate change has global consequences for human health and the environment," the White House simply demanded removal of the line and all similar conclusions. At the G-8 meeting in Scotland this year, Bush successfully stymied any common action on global warming. Scientists, meanwhile, have continued to accumulate impressive data on the rising temperature of the oceans, which has produced more severe hurricanes.

In February 2004, 60 of the nation's leading scientists, including 20 Nobel laureates, warned in a statement, "Restoring Scientific Integrity in Policymaking": "Successful application of science has played a large part in the policies that have made the United States of America the world's most powerful nation and its citizens increasingly prosperous and healthy ... Indeed, this principle has long been adhered to by presidents and administrations of both parties in forming and implementing policies. The administration of George W. Bush has, however, disregarded this principle ... The distortion of scientific knowledge for partisan political ends must cease." Bush completely ignored this statement.

In the two weeks preceding the storm in the Gulf, the trumping of science by ideology and expertise by special interests accelerated. The Federal Drug Administration announced that it was postponing sale of the morning-after contraceptive pill, despite overwhelming scientific evidence of its safety and its approval by the FDA's scientific advisory board. The United Nations special envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa accused the Bush administration of responsibility for a condom shortage in Uganda -- the result of the administration's evangelical Christian agenda of "abstinence." When the chief of the Bureau of Justice Statistics in the Justice Department was ordered by the White House to delete its study that African-Americans and other minorities are subject to racial profiling in police traffic stops and he refused to buckle under, he was forced out of his job. When the Army Corps of Engineers' chief contracting oversight analyst objected to a $7 billion no-bid contract awarded for work in Iraq to Halliburton (the firm at which Vice President Cheney was formerly CEO), she was demoted despite her superior professional ratings. At the National Park Service, a former Cheney aide, a political appointee lacking professional background, drew up a plan to overturn past environmental practices and prohibit any mention of evolution while allowing sale of religious materials through the Park Service.

On the day the levees burst in New Orleans, Bush delivered a speech in Colorado comparing the Iraq war to World War II and himself to Franklin D. Roosevelt: "And he knew that the best way to bring peace and stability to the region was by bringing freedom to Japan." Bush had boarded his very own "Streetcar Named Desire."

Sidney Blumenthal, a former assistant and senior advisor to President Clinton and the author of "The Clinton Wars," is writing a column for Salon and the Guardian of London.

Submitting work? WHERE!?

I've just started to put any thought into doing something with my creative abilities. I wrote all thru high school and college. I'm about to graduate college and I'm thinking of a Master's in something literary related, but I'm worried about being able to get a job to pay the bills afterwards. Anybody out there with any advice?

ALSO I was wondering does anyone know where are some good on-line sites to post/submit one's work? One of my professors said most on-line sites are not viewed with much merit, to not waste a lot of time getting my poetry any of everywhere.
I was also wondering if anyone knows any small and/or independent presses? My professor told me to stay away from places that ask for high reading fees, or fees at all really and that I would be wasting my time to send anything to major publishers until I get into a handful of small presses.

I think travel is good. I think writing is good. I think it is important that writers travel.

Not so they can do travel writing, necessarily. In fact I think travel writing is pretty well served, as a category. There are lots of good books about far away places. (They are probably only read by people who would be likely to visit such places anyway, but no matter.) And the world certainly doesn’t need another travelouge or guidebook. Rather, I think I like what travel does to a person. The sense of perspective it gives. There are some things about oneself, and one’s home and home culture, that can only really be learned by comparison. Plus, travel, real honest-to-god, get-out-there-and-see-what-the-world-has-to-offer travel, makes for good adventures and therefore good stories.

Call it research.

So, I want to make this happen for one worthy writer. I am sponsoring a writing contest. The prize is a round-trip ticket to anywhere in the world — anywhere that you haven’t been before, that is.

It works like this:
- Applicants must submit a short piece. Let’s say, 10,000 words maximum. Fiction, non-fiction, whatever, on any topic, but let’s keep it to prose simply because I don’t feel competent to evaluate poetry.
- Also tell me a little about yourself, where you would go with your free ticket, for how long, and why. You can’t ever have been to that country before. You don’t have to write about your destination. I just want to know what about it inspires you to go through the considerable effort required to actually travel there.
- Email entries to jonathan (at) equivocality (dot) net by September 1st 2005. They will be judged by myself and my writer friends, the winner to be announced on September 15th 2005.
- Entries must be previously unpublished, decisions are final, and the ticket is limited to $2000 US. The idea is also to fund a developing writer who might not otherwise be able to afford to travel, so please keep this in mind when considering whether to apply. I have no funding, no committees, no mandate. I’m doing this just because I think it’s a good idea, so let’s keep it simple.

This should be fun. Hopefully I’ll get to read some good writing, and hopefully more good writing will come of it. We’ll post the winning entry on the site and such. And maybe do it again next year.

I remember what it was like to look out a school bus window.

How different the moods are coming and going, from and to.

Now I sit as a young adult most likely somewhere around the middle of my life, looking out my apartment window.

A school bus stops outside, the door open with a pressure release and screaming freedom children exit on a hustle and begin running home with their backpacks swaying high over each shoulder.

I remember that even though I was the last stop on a 45 minute ride, I always made it home to catch the end of “Disney’s Gummi Bears” which lead into my favorite “Disney’s Duck Tales”

I look out then in at the world I reflect in my room.

I look to the TV and wonder what kind of cartoons these children are running home to escape into.

I forget the idea as my eyes are drawn to a bug that escapes under my front door.

My eyes drift around the room, and I wonder what brought the bug, was it looking for food or was it looking for a place to lay an egg.
I wonder if insects thoughts are much different then our own.
The hunt for food.
The hunt for sex.
And while looking for shelter that holds it’s other two conquests they usually walk into a poison and die in the corner under my shoes I find two to three bugs a month.

The bug that left did it have a meeting to make or was it trying to escape my apartment poisons.

I look around the room again, scanning the leaking faucet upon a sink full of dishes fermenting with the desire of soap.

I need to distract myself so I can continue the laziness, reaffirm the denial, and continue the saga of wasting time, so it will build till it poisons my body till it builds in my mind and the fire of rage set my memories to ash.

Now I must distract myself from thoughts like these.

I look around at the boxes that are filled with things I can’t remember they have not been opened or looked at since I moved in a year ago.

I move my thoughts with my eyes so to calm the building storm I close my lids to find myself seeing red fade into nothing but darkness and little patches of gray that are sprinkled with stars.
And I feel myself worry that there is nothing but this mystery if I continue to shut myself from understanding that that is all there is, just darkness with spots of gray that hold stars and I can’t hunt for the answers that can’t be reached.
So I open my eyes to see what I can define.

The decorations and trash spread out till they over lap and I forget which is which.

The waiting and the weighting.

The gravity my thoughts creates to keep a hold on my body.
I realize that this is the first battle field made one for a reason of it would save money to kill one of two then to take the time to educate the two of each other so they become one in a civil world of unimaginable happiness to dilute and mix stress till it has no human host and is only a concern of all earth and of all animals.
We finally defined civil living with death of fear.
The only mongers are found in the fish markets.
But is that the unimaginable?

Or is it to be all causes are to bring death to claim our bodies holdings at once or is it of means to give the eternal footman a number and a seat.
Turn up your amp and crank out a tune of love to resonate and set the right feeling to vibrate the worry from us.

If peace is forgotten the first rule comes into play as a new definition to home rule.
Or it would surely bring the disappearance of osmosis and the sky fall away and nothing invades.
How is it all done?
The laws installed through conditioning and shampooing which makes one ask, which ingredients can be traced to chemicals you never use unless it was diluted, mixed and given a new name.

“Learning how not to leave bread crumbs” I write this on the window of my microwave with a permanent red marker.

I challenge my upbringing, I challenge myself to find the answers.
To ask why I wasn’t allowed to sit directly in front of the TV for even half an hour.
But by the same design it is ok to sit inches from my monitor.
For flat screens are out of my riches or schools or company employees reaches to be obtained except in those special cases.
So it’s just ok computer, no enemy in your cathode ray?
Is it different from the one that pointing out from inside my television?

I’ve been raised to do nothing when it comes to finding answers to questions worth remembering; that is the truth, that rings Bel.

Bringing a new definition of it to replace it with who.

For whom tolls who is the only one who receives rewards?

Can I find a map in my home that matches the rulers power? is it set up like a grid?
With appliances cords passing from behind and around my various acquisitions that truly are worth more then the paper I traded it for.
Death doesn’t care if you tax the rich or the poor.
But you’ll bring a bigger dinner to ring for the Bel that brings a bigger harvest is found in the fields not in the fortune 500.
That a new definition of the horror devours the first that it is fed as an appetizer.
Time to switch the dishes getting served so to find a light to cast umbra out after finding where their crumby trail leads to an oven that sets dollars a fire.
And umbra is turned to smoke and it clings to everything for a brief time trying to stay whole in it formless shape.
And so by this it leaves gold in the hands of those that hold it.
You should leave before the smoke invades like a tsunami.
As the burning ceremony is set into motion; the bill of rights, the constitutions and the origins to all the definitions of religion is where you find the disappearance of a murdered will.
Before we begin again with testimony from the subpoena of myself, I’m curious did any one here what the last girl off the bus asked?
She asked if they have the body of saint peter then who stole the body of Jesus? Or owns it?

Silence answers the rooms thoughtful question.

Like holding napoleon castrated rod.

It can happens because it does happen.

Turning off the TV by unplugging from the wall.
Turn wrapped in a blanket to the fireplace.
Where the words make ashes with cackling and popping of a new death song is being played as our history is burning away.
So it was asked or so it was done.
To have us watch with a faithful eye and a wishful eye; we will never lose, and we will always know how faith can bring more then sympathy and or spite

Words enter the world from a mouth that can process what was eaten in the eyes and diverted two ways to be digested in the heart and the mind, so it can weighed and formed to be spoken with ease and clarity instead of what was before: a coughed and hacked up mix of phlegm and saliva to be wordlessly projected with a sound as it exits and covers the face of the empty open sockets of justice’s blind eyes.

Well; down here I see something’s never change blindness can be born by hot pokers, rays of light and chemicals that haven’t been properly defined.
There are many more things than hair and flesh that a razor can split.
Can I find synonyms for a think tank’s ammo and a government’s agenda.
Or do I have to turn and look into and past the screen.

Where to find examples.
Raising a system of leaders without consequences of life’s first handed causalities will always make them a voyeur; who will never knows what it’s like to be touched by any one but themselves till a nurse and a doctor take your vitals and wish you sweet dreams of god speed at your death bed.

The thinking of destiny leads backwards too today.

I am accustomed or I can say I was raised to be entertained.

I am then the prey of boredom.

For now I am fighting it by making it known as more then just thoughts in the head.

Victimized repeatedly by my own unclued will is where the reason was taught to end by it’s ignorant and naïve passing but as I had a prolonged birth I will fight for my death to come long after a deserved rest in the arms of a lover and to be the same for my lover for even in birth and long after death we will not part.

A minute revolves in the understanding of small sentence fine can take a month to serve.

But the repetition will carve it from it’s cocoon and a new sound arrives with the original words that are being lost to the boredom of years upon the 10 decades of a century that’s major change when it’s never given.

Not taught a proper way I fall into the cycle.

Always looking for go, as I am at a stop.

Fuck it all and risk it all, am I impatient or is that the coffee talking.

If I know I wont be hit I wont unless I think it.

Forever true this will live on past my own past the future of history will come to pass as either a laugh or a cry.

And for the lucky ones who feel too much, both will be resolution.

Revolve and evolve as my thoughts vibrate my mouth open and I utter questions.

That hold no question marks looking for reassurance from the first words spoken, where the voice became defined with the feeling of love from the eyes opposite mine sealed with a kiss that will forever the quest to obtain but I am now constantly reflected by reflections that don’t match and we will never know love because we’ve been taught there is always more.

And it’s lit vacancy sign leads you to an abandon and boarded up home.

Clawing at the locks in frustration of believing I’m alone it ends in kicks and curses.

Some will say the mood reflects an animal nature.

So I say to my self I leave more then a testament through my will, I’m not any different then any species beside man.

With the exception of needs and wants.

I have to ask myself have I given up the use of myself to machines?

The doubt is still there when I push the button to send this to you.

Here’s to the hope that my message in a screen will reach you.

Less failure?

Is that the hope of this?

Looking at the studies and the diagrams and the lists of meanings given to the visible and invisible nature of life, I can only then achieve the rest from questions.

Till I look at what’s on written on paper and with pixels or hearing the voice and images of distortion I find myself surround by fog.

Is there a friend around? Am I scared that the calling for a guardian will bring a predator?

Is this only thought?

And are they all connected by time?

The lack of truth and freedom is a cancer to hope and love.

What I have faith in is the will of justice to seek revenge by evils own hands, devices and actions will set itself a trap making a poison for the mass.

The lack of failure accumulates to a volcanic degree.

The people get bigger and loose sight of what is coming closer.

An approaching car can’t be seen on the curve of the earth till it passes over to the horizon line.

The lights can be seen at night coming closer though it is mistaken that it being born now, one always remembers death is pregnant at birth.

The build up to break apart and go back under is written in the space that holds and takes up everything.

Are we a beacon?

This is an SOS.

As we heat up with electricity the air thins itself to the weakening of muscles from our legs our backs our arms and eyes, we are allowed to grind our minds on the friction of boredom and the inertia of apathy.

As this happens; will it happen that we will forget to breath?

The wish from a school of fish who can’t feel the hook but know from the gasps of a unlivable evolution nothing survive when its poisoned and rise in the heartbeat that our will cease too with forgetting to breath or what it takes to continue.

freelancing: national easier than local???

i'm an on-and-off freelance writer who happens to be in a 'on' phase this year. one thing that has confounded me, especially in recent years, is that it seems that i have more luck pitching stories to national publications than i do in pitching stories to city/local pubs.

has anyone else experienced this?

i'm currently working on a story for a national magazine. i have some ideas to shop around, and i'd really like to get a few of these ideas published locally, partially to work with other writers and editors in the area, and partially because i really like the idea of writing for my community. is it easier to write for nationals because, relatively speaking, it's a more anonymous arrangement? or do i just have weird luck?

has anyone else encountered this?

GIMMICK

I think that it is awful to base an entire novel around a gimmick -- but sometimes a great work can be written off because of an aspect of the story which stands out as too flashy or forced. However, sometimes the 'gimmick' helps make the story what it is and drives it forward to success.

Has anyone ever built a story around a twist or gimmick only to have another person's break before yours is complete?

Example:
In my novel's first incarnation it was revealed in the third to last chapter that the protagonist and antagonist were in fact the same person.
I later saw 'Fight Club' and then learned it was adapted from a novel.

Ouch.

Just me; or anyone else get hit like this?

(POST SCRIPT: please do not attack me about my use of the word 'gimmick' or for my not having read 'Fight Club'. My novel is finished and actually got better for lack of the split-personality plot twist).

Well, I got my author copies of my new book and they look fine. A bit expensive, but that seems to be common with smaller print-runs.

Anyhow, my question is:
Do any of you have experience marketing your books to libraries? I am also looking for anyone with contacts that are book reviewers. I have a couple lined up but I am always looking for new sources.

writers block,need some help..........and a sledgehammer

I love to write,thats why Im here. My problem is,I have a really bad case of writer's block. To the seasoned writers here,can you give me some siggestions on how to get through my block? Or is it something that just eventually goes away? No matter how hard I try or how many great ideas pop into my head,when I go to put those thoughts down,they either dont seem so great anymore,or they go away completely.

i have TONS of things to write about, in fact perhaps that's my problem --- i have so many ideas that i can't seem to focus solely on one, and thus, i just can't seem to get into writing mode.

anyone else come across this problem and if so how do i get rid of it?

What really inspires you to write?

Lately, it has been a really good book. I am reading "The Secret Lives of Bees", a fabulous coming of age novel beautifully written by first time author, Sue Monk Kidd. It became a New York Times bestseller. Very inspirational. :)

The 20-20 Hindsight Club

I have a 10-minute presentation due tomorrow morning at 7:00 a.m. for which I'm asking your input. Here's the seed of my idea. Any ideas to develop this?...

Imagine the 20-20 Hindsight Club... a resource to rehease the kind of bon mots and clever rejoinders that we usually think of when it's just too late.

The problem with being witty and clever is that it DOES take practice. When you're driving home from work and SUDDENLY think of the perfect answer to that other person's query, don't just bemoan your lost opportunity. Get online and share it with fellow Hindsighters so they can laugh at your brilliance the first time around. They can also rehease your lines to have on hand when THEY face a similar situation.

Do you have any such bits of brillance to share as samples?

The resource will be grouped by categories... but which ones? Could be "At work," "At the party," "At the store," etc. Could be "Scathing Remarks," "Polite Observations," "Catty Remarks," etc. Or...? Let me know what groupings make the most sense... or the best laughs!

This seems ideally an online support group, but what do you think of daily messages a la Dial-A-Prayer, or OF COURSE an emergency 800-number service? Oh, can you imagine the likes of person hired to answer 24-hour emergency calls for the perfect come-back?!

This is wide open right now and I'll entertain your comments on the club name, the premise, the materials, anything. I look forward to your input!

How many have tried posting online?

I have been examining a lot of the online sites, but have been hard pressed to find one that truly replicates the feel of a book. Usually the layout is such that it detracts from the sensation of reading. Has anyone seen a site that has mastered formatting to the point that it did not interfere with the writing?

I bring up this subject because I have a feeling that the future of publishing will be digital---either online or E-books read on palm pilots. This will be a good thing though since it gives the writer control of the entire process---no more cash huge outlay for printing services.

For me, I would have to say that I write a lot better when I am in pain. Emotional, that is. The words flow more naturally when I have had a rotten week, when I am feeling vulnerable or lonely.

Seeking input: Sci Fi Novel

I am reworking a book of mine because I think the characters need further developing. In the meantime I am posting a copy of this book for people to offer feedback on it. This is sci-fi, and a story about the difficulties in becoming a Timelord. This novel covers the first 152 years of an apprentice Timelord's new life as he struggles through school, and adapting to life in a vastly advanced society.

Feel free to post input. Let me know if the format is difficult to read also.

Emptiness.

Why should we write? Besides material need or peer pressure, I mean. Real, serious reasons to write.

For example, must we have something to say in order to write? I have nothing to say, I keep mute before my screen or sheet of paper. As if the screen's or paper's emptiness was poured into my mind, instead of the opposite. A plumbing issue it seems, flow doesn't go in the right direction. If I force myself to write down something, it usually boils down to a single sentence, and it's some kind of written black hole placarded on a white surface. Looping on itself, preventing any other thought to form, eating them as they appear, negating them, and yet saying nothing for itself. I have to erase it, the monster. Now my file is empty again. I really have nothing to say.

Do you share this predicament?

How do you write?

For me, I write best when I'm wearing my favorite shorts, t-shirt, slippers and sometimes red hooded sweatshirt, if it's cold out. I sit at my desk with music blaring through my headphones. Time doesn't matter. I seem to have more energy early in the morning but there isn't much time before I go to work so I usually write at night.

How about y'all?

Report shows big drop in reading in U.S.

July 8, 2004 | New York -- The reading of books is on the decline in America, despite Harry Potter and the best efforts of Oprah Winfrey. A report released Thursday by the National Endowment for the Arts says the number of non-reading adults increased by more than 17 million between 1992 and 2002.

Only 47 percent of American adults read "literature" (poems, plays, narrative fiction) in 2002, a drop of 7 points from a decade earlier. Those reading any book at all in 2002 fell to 57 percent, down from 61 percent.

NEA chairman Dana Gioia, himself a poet, called the findings shocking and a reason for grave concern.

"We have a lot of functionally literate people who are no longer engaged readers," Gioia said in an interview with The Associated Press. "This isn't a case of `Johnny Can't Read,' but `Johnny Won't Read."'

The likely culprits, according to the report: television, movies and the Internet.

"I think what we're seeing is an enormous cultural shift from print media to electronic media, and the unintended consequences of that shift," Gioia said.

The decline came despite the creation of Oprah's book club in 1996 and the Harry Potter craze that began in the late 1990s among kids and adults alike. Reading fell even as Barnes & Noble boasted that its superstore empire was expanding the book market.

In 1992, 72.6 million adults in the United States did not read a book. By 2002, that figure had increased to 89.9 million, the NEA said.

"Whenever I hear about something like this, I think of it as a call to arms," said Mitchell Kaplan, president of the American Booksellers Association. "As booksellers, we need to look into what kinds of partnerships we can get into to encourage literacy and the immediacy of the literary experience."

In May, the nonprofit Book Industry Study Group reported that the number of books purchased in the United States in 2003 fell by 23 million from the year before to 2.22 billion.

The NEA study, titled "Reading at Risk," was based on a Census Bureau survey of more than 17,000 adults.

The drop in reading was widespread: among men and women, young and old, black and white, college graduates and high school dropouts. The numbers were especially poor among adult men, of whom only 38 percent read literature, and Hispanics overall, for whom the percentage was 26.5.

The decline was especially great among the youngest people surveyed, ages 18 to 24. Only 43 percent had read any literature in 2002, down from 53 percent in 1992.

Gioia said the electronic media that are contributing to the problem do offer possible remedies. He praised Winfrey's use of television to promote literacy and said he wished for a "thousand variants" of the idea.

"There's a communal aspect to reading that has collapsed and we need to find ways to restore it," Gioia said.

The title "Reading at Risk" is modeled on "A Nation at Risk," a 1983 government study that warned of a "rising tide of mediocrity in elementary and secondary schools" and led to numerous reforms. But Gioia avoided specific proposals in the NEA report.

"I don't believe the NEA should tell the culture what to do," he said. "The reason we are bringing this study out is that we consider it a crisis situation that requires a national conversation."
