Hello, I am planning a trip to Argentina next month and my friend and I are trying to figure out if we should spend more time in Mendoza area or in Cordoba. Any thoughts welcome! Thanks!

Re: Mendoza vs Cordoba
Fri, April 14, 2006 - 12:27 AMTwo very different experiences. Mendosa is against the mountains and is the hub of Argentina's wine industry. Some beautiful Bodega's (winery's) to visit and if you you are into climbing or hiking much is available close by. It is a very quant town with wonderful people and a friendly atmosphere close to Chile if you want to cross the pass.
Cordoba is a much larger city in the Pampa's but the Sierra's chicas ( a small mountain range) are near by with some beautiful valleys to explore. The culture is very different with the people looking more towards a little Buenos Aires really. It is the best little big city in Argentina and more to do in the night time.
Really you can't go wrong, it is all about what you want to see. Contact me if you want more specifics. I have traveled all of Argentina as it is my favorite country in the world.

Re: Mendoza vs Cordoba
Fri, April 14, 2006 - 5:54 PMHi!
May it's gonna be a little cold for Mendoza and outdoor activities are not going to be too pleasant, anyways the area it's gorgeous and if you get a car, you can drive south to the north of the Neuquen province and check the volcanos, the whole trip from Mendoza City to that area it's amazing but it'll take you one or two days. Cordoba and the Sierras are really nice in may, not that cold and you can still go hiking, be sure to check Villa Carlos Paz (45 minutes from the city). In Cordoba, on the other side of the Sierras there's a couple of little towns called Mina Clavero and Nono. In Nono there's a place that you can't miss; it's a museum called "Museo Rocsen"; the place is incredible (www.welcomeargentina.com/paseo...html).
Cordoba would be my choice for may
Hope you have fun. -

Mon, April 17, 2006 - 7:25 PMI have also travelled extensively through Argentina and it is also my favorite country! You are having to pick between the two most beautiful cities in the country in my opinion. I think Mendoza was probably my favorite, but you can't go wrong with either one. Visit both!! Buen Viaje!!

Re: Mendoza vs Cordoba
Tue, July 25, 2006 - 9:55 AMI love both cities as well. Cordoba has more night life within walking distance. In Mendoza, many of the nightclubs (boliches) are in the suburbs, so you would need a car or to meet up with some locals. Mendoza is more quaint with a nice artisan fair in the central park area on the weekends and many evenings. Cordoba has a beautiful cathedral, more universities, and a bigger city feel. Both have great places to visit in the sierras or hills in Cordboba or in the mountains and wineries in Mendoza. If you'll have a car and love the night life then Cordoba would win. If you don't have a car and aren't too into the discos, then Mendoza would win.
Also, be sure to try some Alfarjores--Havanah brand is great!
Outside of Mendoza, I would recommend Puente Del Inca--where you'll find the ruins of a resort built over sulpher springs. It's beautiful. community.iexplore.com/planni...ity.asp
And, if you can make it to Iquazu Falls on the border with Brazil....well that is amazing! Have fun!
