two LARP Katanas Left!

The LARP season is almost over I have 2 katanas left in stock, these will be the only katanas I'll have for for the rest of the season and probably most of next years season.

Strifeland Video

Ragnarok XXII

Well, Dagorhir set a record last year with the number of pre-registered, fighters on the field and total attendees at Ragnarok XXI. As of the close of the pre-registration for Ragnarok XXII (to be held June 17-23 in Cambridge, Ohio) the official count of pre-registered attendees is 545 -- which if I recall correctly is up by approximately 200.

So, if the numbers hold true to the past several years, the actual attendance is normally 3-4 times the number of pre-registered. Last year's total attendance was 1100 (set a record). This year they expect close to 2,000 based on the pre-reg numbers.

I think its SUPER! We had over 400 fighters on the field last year. So that means we can expect to see my guess is around 700 or so this year... which is a very target rich environment!

But.... I know if this also happens, that the campgrounds where the event is held will not be able to meet our capacity (for water and showers mostly). Last year they said we would get portable shower trailers but it never happened. If they don't do portable shower trailers, the lines are going to be hours long (6 shower stalls for the guys and 6 for the girls) and they will have a serious problem of running out of water (they have wells and its been dry and it happens regularly with much less people at the event). Not to mention more parking area needed and more camping spaces (which for the event is 90% no electric or water).

The only alternative (besides just stinking) is to go down the road to the truck stop and paying an outrageous $10 a day just to shower there (I did that one day 2 years ago when they ran out of water).

At least its very convenient to leave and return to Ragnarok and lots of very close by services (when compared to Pennsic) but it's an expense (pay for showers) that many won't be able to afford.

Oh well, I guess we can't have everything LOL

Discussion: Different fighting styles (i.e. SCA, Dagorhir, LARP, Markland, etc.)

I fight both Dagorhir and soon (I hope) SCA. The group I am with does mostly Dagorhir style, but as of the past 5 years or more have done both SCA and Dag. Many of us are getting more and more into SCA each year.

As I am relatively new to fighting (started about 18 months ago in Dagorhir and just last month authorized for sword & shield in SCA), I do know I have a lot to learn.

I'll post more when I get home tonight from work.

Battle Types

Hope you don't mind me being presumptuous and posting my own thread here, but I just started as field master of my realm and though it would be helpful to all if a topic got started on various types of battles to call. Chamonix (my realm) tends to favor silly battles, but I'm always looking for more serious battle types to call at inter-realm events. So any and all battle types are appreciated.

I'm shamelessly plugging The SCP. The group was founded in Kent, Washington back in 1994 and has been gradually building ever since. We are a boffer/live combat style group, with a strong focus on combat. This is not to say RPing is disallowed, just isn't the focus. We are a FREE play group and do not require garb. Censorship....???

What do you think about it?

The reason I ask is that last week I got smacked hard upside my head and my post deleted on a certain organization's forum merely because I made a new post that said the organzation was listed on wikipedia and I thought that was cool. That's it. Honest.

My post wasn't against the rules either. They only have a few rules: (1) You can't post email addresses that are not issued by the organization itself (and only certain people can get those). (2) You are not allowed to mention other organizations or their events in any post. (3) You can't post topics that reflect badly about the organization/members or is disruptive or divisive to the organization. (4) And personal attacks or offensive posts are not allowed. That's basically it. Oh, and they have the private message feature turned off -- so you cannot contact any individual who posts on the boards privately unless you already know how to contact them off the boards, and if you use a swear word the filters will change the word to #$%#$%.

Apparantly, there is 'worry' that because a certain *other* organization 'trolls' the forums and uses information posted to do things such as 're-direct web traffic' to their website thereby taking away from them and causing harm and apparently I just caused more damage by posting what I did.... yadda yadda.

I'm pretty hot under the collar about the situation myself. I'm not even sure I would call it censorship as much as I would call it oppression.

Not that this Tribe is really active....(hears crickets chirping) but I'm interested to hear your opinions whenever you get around to posting them.

It's my Tribe and I can run it the way I want, and rest assured you will not find that kind of censorship here. We only have one rule here--No personal attacks. Outside of that, you can talk about anything you like.
