After a couple of short months in the states (back from Cairo), I traveled to Europe for the Berlin, GERMANY Bazar Oriental Festival where I taught workshops, performed and was a judge for the “Miss Bellydance Europe” Competition; and where I taught and performed for 1001 Natt bellydance organization, collaborating with the Al Farah Festival in Oslo, NORWAY. Also on my itinerary for private teaching + R&R were Geneva (Switzerland), Rome (Italy), and of course my second home, Cairo (Egypt). Prior to the transatlantic portion of my tour I taught in New York City, and I ended the tour by teaching and performing for the Carnival of Stars Festival in the San Francisco bay area. Wow - it was all fantastic...a whilrwind of dance and fun and wonderful people :-) Now I'm back in the USA for a few months, with lots more to share, charged with excitement and more Egyptian dance fever! I hope to see you in one of my upcoming destinations! For details see the workshop page on http://www.DanceAstryd.com xox I will also try to post upcoming events here!

Greetings from a Lovely Cairo...
I was just in Oslo, Norway teaching and performing for the Annual Bellydance Festival there. It was fantastic! What a great group of dancers, not to mention a FABULOUS city! It was also a nice journey from Cairo for several days...I am happy to be home to Egypt, but thoroughly enjoyed the European break ;-) As the featured instructor for the festival, I taught Shimmies and Layers, a saucy Arabic Pop choreography, and of course, Saidi/Raks Assaya! I performed in the gorgeous Oslo Concert Hall with many other exquisite dancers for a packed Friday night show featuring Raks Sharki, modern African dance, Samba, Hula and more. It was all in all a wonderful and successful trip, el hamdulilah.

Preparing now for my May Tour group to come here to Cairo where I will host them for 10 days of dance lessons, shows, shopping, sightseeing and FUN! Can't wait! Check out my new website all about the tours, www.BellydanceTours.com !

Hope you're all doing well...enjoying springtime... !

Hi all.

for those of you who bought Astryd's Arabic Pop Compilation with "Hayati" and "El Hantour" on it...I need ASSISTANCE!

There is a song on the cd, number 5, and its just labeled Tamer Hosny. He sings something about "Insha' Allah"...God willing, but I what to know what it is he's saying "God willing" about!

I am DESPERATE for the title of this song so I can get a translation...or if someone has a translation already, that would save me a step. :)

Thanks so much for your help! :)

Astryd~
do you have a vid of you performing your pop choreo to Rola's Hayeti that you coupd post on your-tube or
on your tribe profile for just your "friends" to view?? That way we could have an example of the hot dance you are
teaching at your workshops in case we forget a section or the handout isn't making sense. Just an idea thought I'd bounce off ya.
Big Kisses,
and

Astryd will be performing at our 2007 Las Vegas Holiday Hafla. We are excited to have her back again. She did such an amazing performance at the 2006 Shivers & Shimmies Halloween Hafla that we are very much anticipating seeing her again.

We also have another guest performance from Frederique. She is a pretty damn amazing tribal fusion dancer.

Hafla starts at 8pm. Frederique will dance at 9:15pm. Astryd will dance at around 9:30. Cost is $10 at the door. Kids under 12 are free.

It's looking like I will be in Seattle teaching on the 9th of December! Alimah was interested in some privates, so, since I will be up in the Portland area on the 8th, I am planning to head up to Seattle that evening and teach all day on Sunday, the 9th. Looks like we will have a saidi class (open to public), plus scheduled private and semi-private lessons. If you are interested, please let me know ;-)
Shimmy on...!
