Attention: Dancers!
Diffusion, sponsored by Visions in Dance is now accepting additions for our first annual
Diffusion Dance Experiment. We are looking for performers who want to push their boundaries, so the only requirement is a time limit. Mature content in both dance and music are welcome. Due to the nature of the event, we ask that all performers are over the age of 18. For more information visit tribes.tribe.net/dancediffusion or email Diffusion.Dance@gmail.com. Show date is Feb. 2nd, at the Forth Worth Orchestra Hall- 8pm.
Revised FAQ:
Q. "How do I auddition?"
A. You have two choices, You can send in a video tape of your piece or arrange to addtion in person before Jan. 20th.
Q. Where do I send my VHS or DVD submission to?
A.Visions In Dance
PO Box 182604
Arlington, TX 76096-2604
Q. How can I set up a personal audition?
Email: Diffusion.Dance@gmail.com
Q. Where will the performance be held?
A. Fort Worth Youth Orchestra Hall
4401 Trail Lake Drive
Fort Worth, TX 76109
Q. When is this thing going to happen?
A. Friday, Feb. 2nd 8pm
Q. Why are you making me audition? Why can't I just show up and dance?
A. We wanted a show where dancers could dance whatever they wanted AND put on a high quality show. This isn't a hafla, this is a dance performance. There are already places and events where beginners can perform.
Q. What kind of dance do I have to prepare? Does it have to be Middle Eastern Dance?
A. Your choreography does not need to have any sort of Belly Dance or Middle Eastern Dance. This is a performance open to ALL dance forms. Jazz, tap, fusion, exotic, tribal, ballet, modern, lyrical... anything goes! The more variety our show will have, the better!
Q. Is this for local performers only? I'll be visiting in town that weekend and I'd love to perform!
A. We welcome submissions from everywhere! However, we WILL NOT supply any sort of compensation for travel or provide for housing and food.
Q. Can I have a friend help me with my props?
A. Yes, but we must insist on only ONE assistant per performance.
Q. Why do I have to go to a dress rehearsal? I already know my routine.
A. You may know your rountine, but do you know the one in front of you? We need everyone present to give you the order in which you'll dance so you won't miss your cue. We are also tentantively planning a group finale piece that we'll need to teach you.
Q. My costume covers me fully, but is skin tight and flesh coloured. Will that be a problem?
A. Not all. Again, the judges will be looking to see if the costuming has a purpose to the piece, but there are no issues with flesh coloured and/or skin tight outfits.
Q. What do you mean "We reserve the right to pull performers out of the show if costuming is significantly different from the description provided to the judges?"
A. Minor changes are fine, such as a blue belly dance cabaret outfit instead of a black belly dance cabaret outfit, or a red tutu instead of a pink tutu. However, a MAJOR change as to make the costume unrecognizable, will be grounds for removal from the show. We are interested in using costuming and song to build the show around the individual performances into one beautiful synchronized whole. To do this, we need people to keep us informed of their intentions for costuming. We would still appreciate a heads up with minor costume changes.
