Desert Rose was great!!!

Thanks to all who helped put on Desert Rose. It was AWESOME. There was so much fun entertainment in the competition categories. We had a blast and appreciate all who participated and especially those who presented and organized this event. Happy dancing.

Desert Rose/Santa Cruz Hafla

The Santa Cruz Hafla and Desert Rose Competiton is right around the corner! Amy Sigil of Unmata and Shabnam Pena ( Bellydancer of the Year and Bellydancer of the Universe) are guest judges for the competition and will be teaching workshops each day of the festival. We have an exciting line up of performers which you can view at our website, www.bellydanceodyssey.com . We are still in need of volunteers for both Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday we need someone to run music from 12-1, an admissions person from 6-8 and a stage runner from 4-8.
Sunday we need people to emcee, someone to run music from 7-8, and stage runners from 4-8.
Volunteers usually work a two hour shift and are then able to enjoy the festival for free! If you are interested in volunteering, please pm me or email me at jalilah@bellydanceodyssey.com

open, open, open

We've made it through our first week of being open. For those of you who were not able to join us, we had a wonderful grand opening celebration at our studio on Saturday, and an evening of really excellent performances by some of our instructors at the Shiva Lounge on Friday. It was amazing to see all that talent in one room! I hope all of you will get a chance to come by and take a class, or just stop by to say hello.

First class

We had our first rehearsal and our first day of classes in our new studio. It is both exciting and terrifying being the one in charge. We have a great summer schedule lined up with classes in bellydance, hip-hop, world fusion, kickboxing, and boot camp. We will be having our grand opening on Saturday, June 9th, from 5 to 8 pm. Come see the new Dance Odyssey studio, meet the teachers, enjoy music by AZA and snack on delicious food provided by Sitar.

Dance Odyssey is a new studio owned and operated by Bellydance Odyssey Productions. Opening in June 2007, classes will include beginning and intermediate bellydance, hip-hop, gypsy technique, boot camp, cardio kickboxing, bollywood, capoeira, and yoga. Kids gypsy and hip hop classes will also be offered.
