Thu, May 1, 2008 - 6:19 PMA girdle is like a corset only it is for the patootie not the waist & rib cage. Instead of being tied in, one must wiggle into its super elastic cincture to hold all of ones jiggley parts in its binding clasp...
(I know from watching my aunts & mother lying on the bed, flopping about like a fish getting into those torture devices...) -

Mon, May 5, 2008 - 5:21 AMI've worn a girdle before, actually it was a corset. I was Matron of Honor and the dress was a gorgeous forest green empire dress. So, long story short, it wasn't the waist that needed the girdle, I just needed to shove every extra spare inch of skin to fill out the top....but, BOY, did I fill it out. Brings a smile to my face still today..... -
