Hey there all, new here, live in Staten Island, NY and am very interested in any information on datura used by Algonquin natives and it being called wysoccan? wysoccan, a medicine that induced mental derangement and memory loss to young men so they could enter manhood --- along with that if someone knows where to find info on its botanical history Northeastern US. I have a beginning knowledge but would be most appreciative if someone can point to some other information.
One thing to note is that I have found it on Staten Island just recently, shortly after my interest began, in two different areas, if you are interested in knowing where just ask :-) so perhaps the lady is calling for me to study and get ot know her....thoughts?

Fri, August 31, 2007 - 8:09 AMHey there IK,
I try to avoid Seaview, its is a scary place for those who are not familiar with it, who did you go with? I know someone who took coworkers there....places like Long Pond Park or Conference House Parks or the Mount Loretto areas are wonderfully enchanted, and now Lemon Creek Park where Lady Datura appeared to me...Staten Island is not the best place and has become very overdeveloped and overcrowded in the last 25 years but still has some sacred areas, and has a long native history prior to contact period--its just knowing how to find it ;-)
Thanks all for the wise words
