Ok folks today was great, i got the opportunity to meet my favorite Author and his wife and give him the Weirden. well first off I showed up early as is my usual way of doing things and I was nervous as all get out. then When they opened the Reading room I was informed that He was very , very late, stillin Portland as a matter of fact and might just end up doing a small signing. Needless to say I was crushed, having the writting class taken away and now this I was about to call the whole thing an utter loss, then I simply told myself I was going to stay at the book shop till he showed up late or not. Quite a few people took off, so I figured maybe if everyone leaves I can just hacve a nice afternoon with him. Anyway I went back to wait sat in the first row and slowly the room started to fill up again. Then all of a sudden he was there standing in front of me setting his things down and himself and he just started talking to us like he had known us for years. He read some of the Lost Grrl, and took questions, I couldnt even think of a damn thing to say. Then I loosened up a bit and got involved with the discussion. When he left the stage to do the book signing I said I had something for him and he was a bit surprised and said "Oh really, what is it?" at this point I took out the Weirden. Last night I did the whole thing up, making each pice and all so it was a working system. He first took out the board, which I had blown up to 20x20 and he was very impressed with the triskell and all yet he couldnt quite place why I had made this for him, then I took out the little leather bag with all the pieces in it and gave it to him he took them out and he said," This is the Weirden!" I told him how I had been toying with it for some time and wanted to finish it for this trip he was making. He called over his wife and they looked at it for some time. He also took a look at some of my character designs of some of his characters and really liked Raven a lot, and the crowgirls as well. I am very excited to see him and maryann play on Monday night and again next weekend as he and Charles Vess are at a convention not too far from where I live. it was a magical day to say the least. If anyone gets the chance to see him by all means go do it. Check out his website and see if the book signing tour is coming anywhere near you, then go.
