Ok, I think my favorite book is "Into the Green". It taught me a deep lesson that I even try to bring to the classes that I teach in shamanic journey. I don't want to blow the plot but anyone who has read it will know what I mean when I say, "There is no shame or blame in the spirit world, only repercussions. Not matter what you do, no matter how terrible, they love you."
What are deep lessons that you learned from his books?

Re: what deep lessons have you found reading DeLint novels?
Tue, March 25, 2008 - 9:37 AMTasara,
I suppose that there are too many things that Charles de Lint's stories have given me to list them all. I've often told people that if they really want to know who I am to read a couple of his books. I think Newford may be my true hometown.
If I was to pinpoint the one lesson that is with me everyday, it would have to be that we often end up in places we didn't really mean to go for reasons of which we are not entirely conscious. But, the place where we have arrived is the place we need to be to heal what may be broken, or to recognize and appreciate what we already have.
A constant theme that is not necessarily a lesson but a comfort is the idea that friendship, love, and faith can always overcome despair, pain and selfishness. His simple optimism about the the strength of humanity's better nature always makes me glad I've found this marvelously creative author.
Peace,
Windhawk

Tue, March 25, 2008 - 11:00 AMI guess my deepest lesson is that the world is not as it seems and not as it has been pounded into my brain all of my life. I have experienced a release, a freedom, and enlightening. I have met others who also believe. I've never been happier. -
