The Desert Dwellers is a collective of artists, but primarily comprised of three musicians from New Mexico and California who share a common love for outdoor sonic explorations and the re-discovery of ritual beneath the vast desert skies. There they have spent many a full moon opening their inner ears to the sounds of the deep night sky, soft sandy dance floor, and the wide-open spaces that these magical realms have to offer.
Amani Friend, Rara Avis, and Treavor Moontribe all bring a lifetime of compositional and performance experience to their current collaboration together. Their music blends elements of ambient, downtempo, dub, breaks, tek-house, progressive, electro, and trance : while also incorporating sacred and traditional world music in a way that shows a deep respect for that which has come before us, and our understanding of where we are are.
These musicians have trained in a diverse number of musical modalitites from all over the globe, and are acutely aware of the great healing potential that music has to offer. It is their wish that you join them on a journey of self-discovery, and enter into a world of sound that comes from the vast expanses of inner and outer space.
Look for Desert Dwellers music on White Swan Records, Native State Records, Ritual Sounds, System Recordings, Six Degrees, Sounds True, and their own label Desert Trax; they have remixed tracks for Karsh Kale, Deep Forrest, & Jai Uttal.
Additional Desert Dwellers collaborators include:
