I don't know what happened this year but the festival talent coordinator is a joke...
After repeated e-mails and calls inquiring as to when we would dance, 3 days before the festival we were finally called and told we would have to dance in the dirt/mud. When I explained that our costumes cost too much for dirt dancing they put us on stage at 5:45 pm on Sat. We were to be there at 5pm .When I went to take my music to the stage manager, he told us there was no way we would dance on stage..even though it was pouring rain and hailing and the wind was gusting at about 25 mph. We were told that the band that had cancelled suddenly arrived and we were NOT allowed on stage...he was rude and told me to follow him. He took me over to the SUV where Allie the talent coordinator was in partying with her friends. It was pouring rain. She said she had called us to cancel us...at 4:40 ( we were in route and out of cell phone access) and that there was nothing she could do about it. I stood out in the rain, soaking my costume while she explained to the stage manager that she had told us we were on , then it changed..they were both incredibably rude. Neither had a clue what the other was doing. When I asked to get paid, that 3 of my troupe had taken off work for this event, and the gas, rehearsal time (rent), she told me to shut the door and leave her alone. Nice going there Allie....a verbal contract is legally binding!
Last year we had a blast and we danced on stage and got a huge response. We were asked to come back this year. I hope next year you guys get your shit together.
What a fu**ing joke....
