Greetings all, some time ago an associate of someone I know gave me a protein supplement that was extracted from vegetables (like carrot and celery). It tasted very clean and had a wholesome feeling to it that I find lacking in pretty much every other kind of supplement and it gave me none of the side effects I have experienced using soy or whey. As it was some time ago and I haven't been working out much lately I have completely forgottern what it was called and who made it and of course I don't even know where this person got the stuff.
I think it might have had some mention of Nature in the brand title. I have been asking around but so far no one seems to know of it. Can any one help me out here, I am thinking of starting to train again and would love to get my hands on some of this stuff.

Tue, August 8, 2006 - 8:40 PMSeitan hey, ok. Well, the stuff I am looking for was exceptional because it was not made from grains either. I will try Seitan because it sounds interesting but it seems like no one here has heard about vegetable based protein supplements. -

Re: Vegetarian non soy protein suplement
Wed, August 9, 2006 - 11:58 AMnon meat proteins - good sources from ex-vegan
redwood make good cheeses (no animal)
soy pastes are great, especially if pre flavoured with no saturated fats n all
beans and pulses are fantastic - again with the chick peas.....tasty, hummous rocks
nuts are great, almonds and walnuts high in protein low in carbs
quinoa - really good stuff, versatile and adds texture and bulk
soya bran is good fibre and protein, can be dumped on cereal.
whey powder, very good, complete proteins, amino acids, easy to digest, no starch and if you get the non cocoa ones gluten free
creatine makes a great non animal supplement, good for muscle recovery
or amino acids to take before and after training - damn useful things
brocoli, low carb high protein for a vegetable
there are options for those who ain't too fond of animal parts luv, trust me.
keep at it and good luck! -

Re: Vegetarian non soy protein suplement
Tue, February 13, 2007 - 4:47 AMProbably Seitan. If you're looking for a drinkable, vegan, nonsoy type supplement, I've seen rice protein shakes at Whole Foods.
