Nomadiqa Ethnic Fusion and Arabesque Beats - Repost

We recently released a debut album. It's a mix of electronic and arabian styles. We're hoping it might appeal to the tribal and belly dance community, and also people that are into this sort of vibe and music. The fabulous Dawn o'Brien, a show, Princess Farhana and various ramblings

1) I've asked Dawn back asap for her 'Locks and Pops' workshops and the earliest she can do is Easter! Any problems with that? It's a 3 hour workshop and will be around £25
2) Is anyone up for performing at a show in Warminster on May 6th? I won't be around, so go for it girls!
3) Is anyone coming to the workshop at the weekend?
4) What are your thoughts on Princess Farhana - she'll be doing Stage Presence, Extreme Taqasim and Stage Make-up on Saturday plus performing at the WADA hafla - June 9th! Will we performing at that? Sunday, 10th, if WADA doesn't do it, I will be hosting the Princess with her Bursesque, Stage Make-Up and Luscious Layers for Intermediate/Advanced dancers. check her website out...I think its www.princessfarhana.com; it's mental! The workshops won't be cheap, but she's worth it! Are you all WADA members? If not, you should be! Membership is only £6/year and you'll get discounts off workshops etc...
5) My thoughts on Medusa/performances are: Why don't I make the Thursday class a Tribal class with lots of drilling....and then we'll have a proper Medusa session (hopefully at Jan's) once every month! We can drill combos and work on stage performance/part choreos...what do you think?
6) I guess a MAJMA performance by Medusa is out, since we have run out of time, realistically. You should all try and come, though! Money well spent and you can learn from the 'Godmother of Tribal', Carolena Nericcio!

That's it for now, perhaps we can have a talk after class tonight?

No class tonight! 1st of Feb!

Girls,

I managed to injure myself by falling into a pothole getting out of Ana's car.....pulled the inter-costal muscles on the right side - very sore and not condusive to Tribal posture.

Luckily, it was after the workshops in Lisbon, which went very well and I met some lovely people!

The doc prescribed some pretty strong painkillers and they are making me whoozy, hence I don't want to drive.

Soz - back to normal next week! Maybe see ya Monday?

Medusa at MAJMA?

Girls,

Do try and come to MAJMA - it's the first weekend in March; even if you can't make it to the event, would you like to perform on the Sunday?

'Shimmy On' starts at 5pm, so it would give you plenty of time to get there and have a browse round the shops or see the sights in Glastonbury!!!

Let me know asap if you are up for it - we got to get out there!

Hey gals,

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and are looking forward to new year celebrations tomoz.

I would like to set up a Medusa website and was wondering if anyone would mind? Also any ideas and input is most welcome.

I was thinking about domain names and originally was thinking along the lines of medusatribalbellydance.co.uk but then thought that might be too hard for people to remember and wondered if something more simple like medusatribe.co.uk would be more appropriate. I can cover the small costs ana have a friend who can host the website.

What do you rec???

Night Out?

We've been talking about having a night out for a while now so reckon we should plan one into our busy diaries.

I was thinking it would probably have to be new year now as we are rapidly approaching Christmas. What night would be best for people? I guess a Friday or Saturday.

It would be really nice if we could go out for a meal and then a club like we did before the boat party.

About me:
Gothla UK will be a weekend event held in Leicester, UK in 2007. Emcompassing all things related to gothic belly dance and the goth scene.
GOTHLA DATES: 15th - 17th JUNE 2007
The weekend is currently in planning stages but will involve workshops, DJs, and of course, a Gothla (gothic hafla).

Moto GP

Bloody Hell!

What happened? Well, we were at the Whitby Goth festival and asked the landlord from the Little Angel if we could have the GP; well, I dunno what happened wiv da timings, but when we re-entered the pub, the podium looked like just after an F1 race - red everywhere. When I looked closer, I realised Troy Bayliss had one - but he races in Superbikes, I told myself.
We were frantically trying to find out what happened and find out we did after several attempts - the mobile reception is awful in Whitby!

Anyway, turns out that Troy stood in for Sete, Capriossi came 2nd and Hayden 3rd! No sign of the Doctor! What a disaster - the title of moto gp world champion went to the Kentucky Kid, thus breaking Rossi's record! Mama Mia!

I bet he'll be back with a vengeance in 2007!

Medieval Veil Choreo

Everyone,

On the way home last week, Dawn and I discussed skirst for this and we agreed that big skirts wouldn't really work...

I have a velvet skirt with lace from above the knee, so it's pretty see-through, but we could wear melodias underneath....

What do you think?

Do you have any pretty witchy/gothy/hippy/goppy skirts you could wear for this?

Also, I will be in Whitby on Thursday, but I think it may be a good idea for you to practice - I can give the music to dawn; she's up for that!

Medieval Tribal inspired choreo! And costumes...

Guys,

Hopefully, we can have this choreo together for the WADA XMAS hafla - who's going? Could we perhaps rehearse on the 21st? And don't forget, it's the WADA AGM on the Sunday followed by a Bollywood workshop with Yvette Cowles which should be great fun!

Costuming:
I hope we can have our corset belts/bras ready by then...Tonia has got one of my sets of patters; who's got the other one please? Dawni, would you be able to help us out with the costuming? I'm asking on behalf of some of the troupe members - our regular costume goddess may not be able to make them for everybody in time...depending on who will be dancing, of course!

I think full skirts would look nice with that - what do you think?

Veil - ideally a silk veil, but not essential; rectangular ones will work best; we need some of those key ring spirals ? to attach to the veils to turn them into 'Finger Veils'; we will also need some sort of headpiece to attach the veil to our heads for that medieval feel....

What do you think?

Had a great time dancing with you guys in the Flowers of the Desert show. Snakecharmer rules! Heike has kindly given me music for the Xmas Hafla so will at least be able to whistle the tune if not actually dance the steps. Hope to be able to learn the choregraphy in time!
