Wotcher!

This posting is two-fold:

1) To try and judge just exactly how many folks are still here and reading.

2) To ask for your help. I would like to know what you found particularly useful from last year's class and what you'd like to see more of. I'm speaking specifically of my class, for "advanced" or "experienced" Cockneys.

Ta very much.

    'ello, dearie : )
    1) You know I'm still here!
    2) I shall think on this....so that I have something more to say other than "it was great! Loved it! Yours was my favorite workshop!"

I enjoyed both cockney workshops last year.

The only thing I might add is more samples/examples of the slang I don't have a really good understanding of the common ones and I don't think I would catch the meaning of some.

    1) Still here , I fear , my dear , sincere.

    2) That Flash Tobey fellow was quite the bees knees! ( In general , a good class , keep the structure , adjust and tweek as necessary. I find I always learn SOMETHING , even if minute , one just has to WANT to learn. )

    Coo luv,

    1) A select few

    2) Chance to practice and dialog with others... Perhaps valuable would be some "character questions" on the old St. George rehearsal model: form a circle (or around the table) throw a Cockney question to class member to answer in Cockney, who then gets to ask a question of another member of the class. (with guided aid/correction/commentary).

      Still here.

What Mark said sounds great. Definitely more advanced practice to build on the basics.

Only a *little* late, but still here. :-P Didn't catch the workshop last year, so I can't honestly say. I hope to catch it this year, but...

I really do like being able to come here and check on stuff, though. Easier than trying to track you down somewhere in London. :-D

Joy, there are lots of opportunities to take the workshop, so please do! This group is only an enhancement, not a replacement.

        Thanks for all the feedback!

This was very helpful - so now I must ask - what worked for you when you started doing Cockney classes and what was a waste of time?
Gotta get those beginners up an' running like ol' Flossie's hoss!

Surrey: what I personally loved about your workshop was the fact that you gave the participants a real feel for what conditions were like in London (weather, etc). I also love the map and your helping the folks to know exactly where they come from. Just knowing a few street names and the geography of the area for those who have never been to London or spent anytime in the East End is incredibly useful!
