Gathering for World Music-Colorado

Greetings tribe. You are all invited to attend the 2008 Colorado World Music Gathering. The date is set for June 7, 2008, and will be held near Dacono, Colorado. This year’s event will be a one day outing; arrival time is 10am, with a start time of noon. The event will go until midnight, however, later celebrations can be individually structured at a location of your choice or at a nearby campground just north at a reservoir. Locate and reserve early.

All are welcomed, from the curious to the beginner to the professional. At this year’s gathering we are including the didgeridoo, ethnic flute and drum, tribal & fire dance communities.

All pertinent info is now posted on the Yahoo Group WorldMusicGathering. Rules, regulations and other considerations will be available via the Yahoo Group.

Join today and commune with other attendees regarding directions, carpooling, nearby camping, and other logistics. Perspective Workshop leaders and Vendors are welcome to post letting people know what they plan to make available to attendees.

DIY Didjeridus

After playing my storebought didjeridu for a year or so, I felt like experimenting with lower and higher tuned instruments made of different media. I bought some beeswax and now have two finished PVC didges (one of which is nearly eight feet long and tuned to a low C, and has surprisingly good articulation and backpressure for its huge size), one made of steel conduit with designs buffed into the surface, and one that's still in the works is a large plum wood didge. The latter is in the process of being hollowed out using the lengthwise split method. I don't have pictures yet, but intend to soon.

Who else here has built a didjeridu? Does anyone have any good tips or suggestions for others who want to build their own?

The Colorado Didgeridoo and World Music Gathering

Greetings tribe members. The Colorado Didgeridoo and World Music Gathering, aka “The Gathering” is on the drawing board. However, in order to pull it off, it is necessary to raise some seed money. For those of you who are in the Denver/Boulder metro area, would you be willing to attend at least one music fund raising concert? Circular breathing. Help!

So I've been playing the didge for a few years now. I can do bouncing sounds, animal sounds, scream, speak through it, you name it. But, much to my dismay, I STILL cannot master circular breathing. I've been told to try spitting water in the shower while breathing in. I've been told to blow bubbles with a straw while breathing in. This is really frustrating. Can anyone offer advice?
