Thu, September 6, 2007 - 12:21 PMI have the LA 2004 Saturday Night show, "Always Dina," and really like it a lot. There are a few moments where she's not well lit, but the dancing is top notch!

Sat, September 15, 2007 - 8:58 AMThose are all great, to be sure, however my faves are the ones of her dancing in the ME. Most are VCDs of dances that are aired as TV performances, so the quality is not as good, but I think it is so worth it to see her with her band in an authentic context. I got a really good one of her through www.arabiatower.org, that is a compilation of Fifi Abdo, Lucy, Aza sharif, and Dina. It has the performance of Dina opening for George Wassouf in Lebanon on it; I love that one!

Sat, September 15, 2007 - 8:25 PMOoh!!! Aza Sherif is one of my favorite dancers (in addition to Dina :), can you tell me which VCD it is? It's hard to find footage of her. I have one Arabic television clip of her doing a sort of baladi/Bedouin thing, Morocco's nightclub performance DVD and Souzan's movie clip DVD, but I would love to have more. Thanks so much! -

Sun, September 16, 2007 - 7:55 AMHey there, I just checked their website, and it's still there; it's called simply "Arabic Belly Dance". The description is wrong, though, they have Mona Said listed, and not Dina! Which is odd, because Dina is the main one in the opening and closing compilation clip. It's a good one, has some vintage footage of Fifi in these wild costumes from the eighties!
Aza looks so much like my mom, I couldn't believe it!

Mon, September 17, 2007 - 2:05 PMNo problem! Yes, my momma is so beautiful! My mom was a jazz singer when Aza was a Belly dancer, so they had similar feautures, but also a similar look. Uncanny.
Those VCDs are a great find, cuz they are so cheap! I got two others from that site, Amani's, and a Turkish one that has a lot of Asena on it.

Sun, December 2, 2007 - 5:56 PMFor her instructional DVDs, I really liked her Dallas workshop DVDs. It has a very good view of her teaching. You can actually see what she is teaching. A lot of great movements/ combos on the DVDs.
