Hello lovely ladies, beautiful flowers, The WC are eager to work with you this coming Sunday at the "Triad's" first of three joint rehearsals. It is going to be fun... but it is also going to be work at the same time.

The WC (and SS) will be on lacation at 11am and setup by 11:30am. From my understanding, the DF dancers will be there by 11:30am. Please be on time (real time... not belly dancer time, i.e. + or - an hour... Diosa and Valerie). I'm a stickler for punctuality. To be early is to be on time. To be on time... well, you're already late. In my benevolence, I have decided that I will not count anyone late if they are at least there by 11:40am. However, beyond that... well, let's just say that I'm bringing my bull-whip, it's hot outside, and I can foresee jingly belt wearing dancers running laps around the church. Oh... and I'm not kidding. However... if you even think that there is a remote possibility of you being even slightly late, I would suggest bringing me a very cold 24oz can of Miller High Life. This magical substance seems to be the only thing that will snuff out my burning anger. In fact, the SS dancers are always armed with several cans of said elixir for just these types of emergencies.

Rehearsal:

We are going to do show development, fine tune things, and then we are going to run sets... a lot. I'm a get in, get it done, and get out type of guy. If we can do it in an hour, that's how long the rehearsal will be. If it takes two hours, same thing and etc. Focus, don't "F" around and let's get 'er done... or we'll be there all friggin' day. You will hear me say, "Let's do it again", until you grow to hate my guts.

This first rehearsal is going to be the hardest as we all mesh together. If we work hard on this rehearsal, the others will be easy. So please come with your game faces on. I don't know how hard Diosa pushes you, but I'm gonna knock you off the cliff. Expect to run routines about ten times per piece. I would like to be done in two hours. Expect three. I'm just being honest. Hence, we will be done by 2:30pm regardless. If things don't go well... well, the next rehehearsal will be longer (though it should be shorter).

This isn't a restaurant gig. It's not a fair. It's not a parade. It's not a hafla. Boom Boom Belly Fest is the quintessential belly dance benchmark in AZ. Although it is not a contest in any way, shape, or form; to think that you aren't going to be judged is just naive. The DF are the only cabaret/fusion group that has been, not only allowed, but requested by the promoters (Domba). It seems they want to see what you west-side snotling girls got... and the "Triad" has garnered an obscene amount of time for it too (You're welcome). So we have three weeks to get all the fear, apprehension, stupid mistakes, etc., out of our systems. Although perfection is by nature unobtainable... The DF, the WC, and SS are about to make perfection look like three monkies trying to F@#k a football on a frozen lake in high wind.

Why? Because I, DRUMOPELLI, have said so. And... so have Diosa and Valerie and Fatimah. We will either RAK with authority, or we will come back, defeated, upon our zils.

Translation: Let's just do the absolute best we can. Every body step it up a notch over the next 4 weeks. Won't everyone be dismayed at how beautiful and skilled the flowers are... and at how sharp their thorns (their claws) have become. It will be like stealing candy from a baby... but then we are going to kick the baby in the head... hard... REALLY HARD!... just for good measure. Please practice safe sex (a public service announcement... hey, it's contractual).

Triad Chant:

"We're gonna rape, kill, pillage, and burn... we're gonna rape, kill, pillage, and burn!

Chorus: "Eat the baby!"

"Nuff said...

See ya on Sunday at the Ch... the Chu... the Chur.... the House of G-g-g-g-g-ggg-ggg-g-o-o-o... cha- cha- cha- cha- chur..err...errr...urrr... cha-ha ha ha hur... hur... hur... um... monkey on a stick (sorry Varlerie, I just couldn't say it). I hope that fire extinguishers are on hand (like any of you, once I burst into flames, would bother to put me out anyway).

The above is an excerpt from the Book of Rehearsal, chapter 12, page 410, verse 37, of the Litannies of Pueblo... a dire account of how the Anasazi culture disapearred after determining that most of them were republicans... as portrayed in Matt Damon's documentary: The Life of a Male Belly Dancer, a hard succinct introspection of rampant homosexuality within the disgusting narcotic filled underground culture of Cabaret and upside down basket weaving. This minnie feature, starring Sharon Stone and the ashes of Sylvester Stallone (cuz he died three years ago) is gripping, haunting, and ultimately frightening. Ropert and Ebert give it two index fingers up the butt, saying this was the stupidest thing they had ever seen (outside of Tribal Fest 2007).

So it is written, So shall it be done!

Amen!

Namaste!

The lord god Avatar, Drumopelli...

It's OK to worship...

Women... technology... pfft! I got an e-mail to my personal account (which must have been fed from my MySpace Drumopelli account) with an invite to friend the Desert Flowers on Myspace. So you made a site. It's about goddamn time! However, the link I received doesn't work. I show no friend invites from either the drumopelli site or the white claws site. So what happened? Who's responsible? What error did you make? You nagged too much didn't you? The cyber god hates naggers... and dancers. It's My Space. It isn't rocket science, but you do have to be smarter than your toaster. Hence, please send me the "url" link to your new founded MySpace site and all will be forgiven. If you do this quickly, God may actually have mercy upon your fetid dancing souls, forgiving the fact that your technical prowess is limited to replacing the batteries in your "Happy maker".

Now perhaps it may take up to 24 hours for your new site to be completely registered and active and useable. Perhaps I will win the lottery and you will all be my slaves. Perhaps 2 + 2 = 5 (if Beth is in charge of the school... well, no... in this case, 2 +2 would equal blonde). The point: I can't start making you all famous until you "friend" the WC or Drumopelli on MySpace. Then watch what happens (I got yer back). I need the URL address. Desert + flowers + dance + troupe has over 600 entries when researched through MySpace. I'm not a patient man, and I don't have time to go through all of them. URL address... PLEASE!!!

So who dared to make this site (not work) so that the great avatar, Drumopelli, may smite them and ridicule them mercilessly? The first one to hone up will be pardoned. The rest that don't (or the innocent) will run laps until they make the Olsen twins look fat (or they die). I care not.

However, should you want judgement upon your fetid souls suspended indefinately, then put me in contact with Diosa. Hey, Kimberly proclaimed a witch-hunt against me in a previous post... now I return the favor (and I was really impressed with the whole witch-hunt thing, hence Kimberly will be spared regardless). It takes massive ovaries to confront the Drumopelli and call him out. Kimberly deserves death and scorn... she gains respect because the rest of you didn't follow through (Beth did. She gave me shit... she will live too... sort of).

So, what is up with Diosa... or, as Valerie has put it, Ole what's her face? I need confirmation for BBBF and then I need a WC DF rehearsal schedule. If BBBF is a go, I need to know NOW!!!!! ... and I need to know from Diosa. BBBF has already added us to the bill. I need confirmation. I need it IMMEDIATELY!!!!! OR, I have to decline in all fairness to Heidi of Domba, so that she can find other acts. The first four paragraphs are me joking. This paragraph is very real. I need DF confirmation for the event by Friday, the 24th, or I have to cancel. BBBF is the biggest BD event in AZ... and the promoter wants the DF to be there (almost an invite). I have negotiated an obscene amount of time for the DF and SS. Please don't make me look stupid.

We have seven weeks. Get nervous now... then get over it. Then get real. Then get mean. Then get ready to impress. The DF wanted some lime-light... be careful what you wish for... cuz now it has happened.

I need to talk to Diosa post haste. Any help in this regard will make you a god in our eyes She needs to contact me... IMMEDIATELY!

Thanks for your help and welcome to the local big leagues...

Snarf...

Ok guys, my turn for a rant.
We have an upcoming event in the beginning of October at Boom Boom Bellyfest. All the information I have received indicate that the White Claws will be doing live drumming to at least four of the songs we will dance (drum, Veil, Zeina, and the new choreograph). Side note: not to fear about how we will dance to Veil and Zeina with just drums as Gary plays keyboard as well.

Since this event is coming right up and I want to be “on” for all of it I have been trying to arrange a pre show practice show the weekend before at Sultan’s grill. I am looking at the weekend of the 30th of September and need to get back in touch with the new owner LAST WEEK. But (she says with an eye raised) suddenly our loving and kind drummer friend has become to famous to return an email to me (hey I got to admit the video is awesome, great drumming, great concept, and our own Laura and Diosa were HOT. If you have not seen it go check it out) to let me know if the Claws will be available on the 30th for a practice show or if at least I can get a CD with the music so we can dance to that.

We need to promote this practice show and are hoping to do so with some posters. This requires us getting together for pictures (this info will be coming to you shortly) and the actual making and placing of the posters and perhaps flyers. All this will take time and cannot be started until I set the date for sure.
So here is where I need the Flower Power. Please all of you go to The White Claws Tribe and email Drumopelli and ask him to get back with me. He has come to us before to try to get Diosa to call or email him so now it is our turn!

Hi Flowers!

Here's the latest news:

There are two upcoming belly dance events in Las Vegas. The first is a six day International Belly Dance Convention which starts July 20 and ends August 8. For more information about this, the website address is www.theibdc.com The second event is the 5th annual Belly Dance Intensive featuring Suhalia which will be held September 7-9. For more information about this event, the website is www.bellydanceintensive.com

On the local level, there was interest expressed in attending the monthly open dance/drumming event hosted by Mary at Sultan's in July. Is anyone still up for this??

At Thursday's Troupe class, there was some discussion started about putting on our own shows at such venue's as Sultan's, House of Kebobs (maybe) and possibly organizing and sponsoring our own extravagamza. For our own show, I had suggested using our church's Fellowship Hall as the venue, however, the question has been raised about the comfort level people might have with a church facility for a belly dance show. I guess the first thing to settle would be are we willing to go to the work of putting on our own show, selling tickets, etc.? If we are, then the second question would be are we comfortable putting this show on at a Fellowship Hall? Would it impede ticket sales? If not the Fellowship Hall, where can we find a suitable, yet inexpensive, place to do the show? Of course, the other question would be when would want to schedule these shows?

Another suggestion for raising money was to create our own calendar. In addition to having a great time putting that together, we could also get some great group photos for future PR situations.

We've also talked about creating our own logo, and making up t-shirts so everyone will know we've got Flower Power.

If I've missed any upcoming event or point/topic to discuss, please let me know. Thanks Flowers! XXOOVO.

Apparently, the "early bird" sign up special for the Fifth Annual Las Vegas Intensive has come and gone (06/15) along with the discounted early sign up fee for Naj's workshop with Mary Ellen Donald. You can, of course, still register for either event.

The last class of this session (City of Surprise) will be this Thursday, June 21st. Does anyone have input as to when classes resume? Bueller? Bueller?

Laura is preparing to undertake the construction of our gypsy skirts. If you are interested in having her sew one for you, please remit a check for $70.00 (full price) or $50.00 (covers cost of material only with balance due at time of completion.) The skirts will be made of black raw silk material (right Laura?) The hope is the skirt will also be a multi-tasker in that it will serve as part of future Tribal outfits (how's that for a poorly constructed sentence?)

There are some upcoming events taking place at Naj's Belly Dance Shoppe, 14848 North Cave Creek Rd. #16, Phoenix.
1. On Saturday, June 9th, Obelysk, featuring Edric Aziz, will be performing at 7:00 p.m. There will be opportunities for open dance during the concert. No mention was made of ticket prices, but I will e-mail Naj and find out if there is a fee to get in.
2. On June 22nd, 23rd and 24th (Friday, Saturday and Sunday,) there will be a drum and zil workshop held by Mary Ellen Donald. Apparently, she is a much sought after instructor at Rakkassah and has written several books which are held in high regard by rhythm musicians. The Friday drummer's workshop is from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and is $25.00 (early bird until 6-15) after the 15th, the cost will be $30.00. Saturday's workshops are for beginning cymbals 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and costs $50.00 ($60.00 after 06-15) Advanced zils combined with drummers is from 3:30 to 5:30 and costs $25.00 ($30.00 after 06-15) There will be a show Saturday evening at Naj's shop at 7:00 p.m. ($5.00 fee)--she has requested applications for any groups interested in performing at this show. On Sunday, classes are Rhythm Essence Part II from 10:00 to 3:00 cost of $50.00 ($60.00 after 06-15) followed by "Masters Class" at 3:30 to 5:30 for $25.00 ($30.00 after 06-15.)
3. Coming August 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th, a action-packed seminar with Jim Boz. He is apparently taking students on a one-on-one basis at one point during the four days. Reservations for this event are accepted at this time--and it appeared that there were already some classes full to capacity. Since there are so many different options involved in this seminar, I invite you to access Naj's website to view the entire list. Her website address is www.bellydanceshoppe.com

There are also the monthly live drumming evenings hosted by our friend Mary at both Sultan's and Trick Shot. The suggestion has been made we form a group and join the fun at Sultan's in July.

I've no further information about the upcoming Las Vegas workshops (the July and September events.) If anyone has any information to shed light on the topic, please let us know.

And that's all I know for now. Again, please stay tuned to your Tribe channel tomorrow (Tuesday, June 5th) for any rehearsal alerts. Thanks everyone! XXOOVO.

I'm sure it won't come as a shock to find out that Arizona Traditions has decided to cancel their Father's Day event. However, there has been scuttlebutt (love that word) about The Flowers going ahead and doing their own show at another venue. I've discussed this with Diosa and here's the latest proposition: If we could find our own venue (possibly our church's Fellowship Hall,) we could put on our own show, sell tickets to same and use the proceeds to help fund our costuming needs. Unlike Sultan's, we would actually have tickets sales instead of relying on donations (which may or may not be successful) and we'd have an area large enough for all of us to dance together without knocking elbows AND there's a good sound system that works. Obviously, there are a few problems with our church's Fellowship Hall. We'd have to get creative and make our own stage area, but for a group of gals who turned an 11' by 5' trailer into a harem, I doubt we'd have a problem. And the floor is carpet which is difficult to dance on. Of course, if anyone has access to a better place, by all means, let us know. Further, as Diosa pointed out, this one show needn't be the ONLY show we put on. We could still perform at Sultan's and other venues as well. This suggestion will be up for discussion and a vote on Thursday night at Troupe class.

I share your disappointment in the way things turned out at Arizona Traditions, but at least we can thank them for getting us motivated to explore new ideas for our performances! Yes, just call me Little Mary Sunshine. Until Thursday, my Fellow Flowers! XXOOVO.

Hey Flowers!

Here is the rehearsal schedule we've set for the AZ Tradtiions event:

Sunday, June 3rd at 2:00 p.m. (Desert Garden Church Fellowship Hall)
Monday, June 4th at 6:00 p.m (Desert Garden Church Fellowship Hall)
Wednesday, June 6th at 6:00 p.m. (Desert Garden Church Fellowship Hall)
Thursday--Regular Troupe Class at City of Surprise Dance Studio
Dress Rehearsal--Sunday, June 10th at 2:00 p.m. (Desert Garden Church Fellowship Hall)
Dress Rehearsal--Monday, Jun 11th at 6:00 p.m. (Desert Garden Church Fellowship Hall)

Most of you have been to our church's Fellowship Hall, but just in case, here are the directions:

Desert Garden United Church, 18818 North 128th Avenue

1. At the Bell Road & R.H. Johnson Blvd. Intersection, turn north on R. H. Johnson (the entrance to Sun City West.)
2. At the SECOND stoplight intersection, turn right onto 128th Avenue.
3. About 200 yards down 128th Avenue, you will see the church on your left hand side. Turn into the first driveway--the Fellowship Hall is the first building you come upon as you're heading down 128th Avenue.

I will be attempting to contact Gail at AZ Tradtions in the hopes we can at least go out there on Sunday (the 3rd) and take a look at the stage--discuss transitions, etc. Please stay tuned to this channel for developments on this!

The Line-Up for the gig is as follows (a more detailed line-up, including times, etc., will be available on Sunday.)

1. Quad Gypsy
2. Raks Africa
3. Fast/Summer Drum
4. Zeina
6. Misty & Kimberly's Sword Duet
7. Knight Rider
8. Arabian Pleasure--Diosa solo
10. Misty/Diosa Drum Duel
11. Misty/Kimberly Dance Routine
12. Warda
13. Sahra Saidi-Drum Duel
14. Arabic Groove
15. Entrance of the Stars-Diosa Solo
16. Introduce the Flowers/Finale Audience Participation.Song "Kiss, Kiss"

I will let you know about Sunday's field trip to AZ Traditions as soon as I know anything concrete about it. If they give us a thumbs up on our proposal to come out there, perhaps we should meet at the church, and car pool over to AZ Traditions?
My petals are drooping. I just got off the phone with the Entertainment Coordinator at Arizona Traditions and it seems as if ticket sales to the Father's Day event have been so sluggish, they are considering cancelling the show altogether. We'll know for sure about the status of the show on Monday since they are going to see if the weekend brings enough ticket sales to make the event economically feasible. I've talked with Diosa and she's decided we will FOREGO SUNDAY'S REHEARSAL AND MONDAY'S IS TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED PENDING THE DECISION FROM ARIZONA TRADITIONS. For those of us who are participating in the Traditions i thought if we used our 50 dollars each (or whatever it ends up coming to) toward our skirts it would allow for a good chunk of the Fabric to be paid off. That way Diosa would not have to front the whole 600 dollars as she suggested. Then whatever the final cost of the skirt comes out those who participated would have already contributed 50 dollars (or x amount) toward the skirts.

Then on a separate note we could all agree to sell back our skirts to the troupe for x amount if we were ever to leave the troupe.

It's been quite a weekend. The Flowers shimmied their way up and down Bullard yesterday for Surprise's first annual Memorial Day parade. Our awesome decked out Flower Basket was certainly a stand-out entry. A big thanks to Misty and Jim for providing the basket and the expert driving, to Don for being our chic Shiekh and to the Flowers who spent hours turning a trailer into a slice of the Arabian Nights and dancing while on the move. Flowers Rock! We'll post pics ASAP.

The upcoming Arizona Traditions gig is now two weeks away. A line-up is in the works. Additional rehearsals will also be scheduled, so keep checking Tribe for Practice Alerts! I've no doubt we'll be able to use Desert Garden's fellowship hall once again for our rehearsals.

Our drummer friend, Mary, has posted information about upcoming open dance nights. Looks as though a group may be forming to attend the open dance night scheduled in July at Sultan's. We can firm up these details during Troupe class discussions.

I believe that's all the news fit to print. As always, if I've overlooked any new information, please let us know. Thanks!

Jim is all gung ho on this float thing. He is using it as an excuse to get it painted and new tires for the trailer. New tires for his truck. CRAZY!!!

Anyway, I have posted a pic of the trailer in the pic part. The whole black part of it can come off, but I was sort of thinking, if no one cared to climb over the side w/ a step stool, we can leave it on and decorate it as a back drop. I know that it look tacky black, but if we cover it with a dark sheet and then cover it in some sort of material, like what Kimberly had for the walls of her canopy and then we can string silk flowers through the edges. And then we could attach our banner to the back drop.

If we take it off, we can get off and on the the trailer a lot easier. We don't care. We are easy.

We had a great time Sat nite.

Since inquiring minds want to know--and we seemingly just got our act together--here's the plan for tomorrow. Misty and Jim will be bringing the trailer by somewhere between 12:30 and 1:00 (she and I had a little miscommunication--entirely my fault.) BUT, we need to have a little discussion beforehand anyway in order to create a definitive game plan--SO, MEET AT OUR HOUSE AT 12:30 P.M.--we'll discuss the finer points of decorating a float, take stock of what materials we already have, then go and purchase whatever we might need. This might be more prudent than going to MIchael's and purchasing materials on speculation, then having to return them. Most of you have been to our home, but if you have not, please e-mail me at vocoloco@cox.net and I will provide instructions on how to get here. I will be checking my e-mail on and off throughout the day, so I will get back with you ASAP. Thanks Flowers!

It's time for the weekly wrap-up of what's going on--and what's gone on as well.

Kimberly and Michael's Indian themed Hafla was Saturday night. I think it's safe to say a good (and sometimes soggy) time was had by all. Apparently, many Flowers are wash and wear. Kimberly has posted several pictures from the party.

The first ever City of Surprise Memorial Day Parade is set for Monday, May 28th at 7:00 p.m. (NOT 6:00 p.m. as was mentioned at one point.) I submitted the entry form today and was told by Kendra, who is spearheading this endeavor, that the staging area is the north end of the ball field parking lot and the time set for the staging is 5:45 p.m. The route is, perhaps, a quarter of a mile. We start at Paradise Lane (which is adjacent to the north end of the parking lot) and go to Tierra Buena which is the road just south of the community swimming pool. Misty has posted a pic of the "Flower Basket" she and Jim have kindly provided for the Troupe. Further details will be posted as they become available.

The Arizona Traditions gig is now three "official" Thursday practices away. Just thought I'd mention that.

Our drummer friend, Mary, has posted two separate events. Both of them are live drumming events and, unfortunately, both are scheduled for Thursday evenings. The first is a student night at Sultan's grill on May 24th and the other is at the Trick Shot and is slated for Thursday, May 31st. For more details, please refer to her posts.

It was suggested that I take over as Moderator of this site, but upon further investigation, I have declined. There are aspects of the position which are beyond my ability to execute with accuracy.

As always, if there are any additions or corrections to this week's post, please let us all know! Thanks, Flowers! XXOOVO.
Here's the latest and greatest . . .

I'm happy to report Linda was properly ushered into her ??? year of life at the Bachannal restaurant on Friday night. Thanks for inviting us to the share the fun. Opa!

The performance at Over Coffee Saturday evening (May 12th) was a wonderful time. We thank Ro and 'Rea for inviting the Flowers to perform! Kimberly informed me that our friend, Colleen, of the Tribe site Bellypraise, has posted lots of pics of this event under the title "Wiggles Out West." Meander on over and take a look. There are a number of photos featuring the "discovery of the evening" which was one of the O.C. male employees who, on a dare, made his debut as a belly dancer. Ladies, what do you say? Shall we persuade him to join the Flowers?

For those of you who have not yet done so, please sign up for the next City of Surprise BD sessions which start this week. Contrary to the written publication, the online site lists the start date as May 15th (Beginners) and May 17th (Intermediate and Troupe)--the online site is correct.

Kimberly's Hafla is this Saturday evening (May 19th) at 7:00 p.m. There is a separate post for this event entitled "Who's Sari Now" where you can list your dish and/or share the recipe.

Update on the Arizona Traditions Father's Day gig scheduled for Wednesday, June 13th. I have now had two meetings with Gale at A.T. and I believe we have the game plan mapped out. For those of you who were not at Troupe last Thursday, the facilities are just great with a wonderfully large stage. This time there really IS access on both sides of the stage. They will allow us to use their in-house sound system (thank heavens) so that issue has been put to rest. The call time has been set for 6:00 p.m. We have no dressing room per se, and the bathrooms will be a bit tricky to get to, so we'll be using the curtained off backstage area as our dressing area (some chairs and tables will be provided for us.) I know June sounds far away, but in reality we have one month--or four "official class time" rehearsals before we are to do this gig. Just call me the good news fairy.

That's all the news I've got. If I've missed anything, please let me know. Thanks! XXOOVO.

Hi Flowers!

I just want to keep you all posted (every pun intended,) on the latest and greatest happenings.

First, on Friday the 11th of May, is Lil' Linda's birthday celebration at the Bacchanal Greek Restaurant located at 3015 East Thomas Road (phone 602-224-9377.) The festivities start at 7:30 p.m. You can visit the restaurant's website at www.bacchanalgreekaz.com to peruse their menu. Please let Linda know if you will be attending so she can reserve a table(s) large enough for all of us.

Second, on Saturday, May 12th, the open dance night event hosted by Ro and 'Rea at Over Coffee located in the Greenway Crossroads Shopping Center (16572 West Greenway Road, Bldg. C, Ste. 101--roughly the 303 and Greenway Road.) It is my understanding the proceedings get underway at 6:00 p.m.--IF I'M WRONG ABOUT THIS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I'm sure we'll get a better idea of the routines we will be doing and a "head count" on those who can attend when we all meet again on Thursday.

Third, the Father's Day gig at Arizona Traditions on Wednesday, June 13th at 7:00 p.m. Arizona Traditions is located at 17225 North Citrus Road. Between last Friday and today, I have made several attempts to contact the ladies in charge of organizing this event. I have not been successful--YET. When I have more information about this, I will be sure to post it for you.

Don't forget, this coming Thursday, May 10th, marks the end of our present City of Surprise class sessions. The "Recreation Times" lists the new classes starting on May 24th, but the on-line class schedule stipulates May 17th as our start date. Go with the on-line information here. As most of you already know, you can sign up on line at www.surpriseaz.com. From the City's home website, access the "Recreation and Departments" option listed on the left hand side of the screen, then click on the "Special Interest" (Adult) area from there. If you've not signed up on line before, you will need to get an access number from the City--you can simply call them and they will assign you one. (City of Surprise Rec # 623-266-4500.)

If any of you have additional information about the above listed events, or if I've forgotten to include a topic or tidbit, please let me know! Til later. XXOOVO.

The princess project provides girls who reside in forster care a night to SHINE by hosting a formal ball. They each receive a formal dress, shoes, make-up, duffle bag, jewelry, wrist corsage and tiara. They each get pampered by a make-up artist, hair dresser and then after an elegant dinner get dance lessons and then a formal ball!!!

The "letter" will get six of our cars into the parking lot free of charge and the proposal is to go in a sort of caravan. I suggest that as many of us as can, meet at my house as a jump off spot. Anyone game? Our address is 13254 West Tara Lane, Surprise. Closest cross streets are Grand and Dysart (we are between the Grand/Dysart intersection and Greenway.) Turn west on to Ironwood off Dysart. You will immediately come to a stop sign intersection which is Ironwood and a road called Gil Balcome. Turn Left on to Gil Balcome. You will pass Ironwood (yes, Ironwood again) and the next street is Tara Lane. Turn Right onto Tara (you won't have a choice, there is no left turn option.) Continue down Tara until you come to Ulrich Way. We are on the corner of Ulrich and Tara. I will park my Screaming Yellow Mustang in the driveway as a "beacon"--and of course, you can call me at 602-319-4430.

The proposed time to meet up is 4:45 p.m. (with the hopes of actually taking off by 5:00--ha!) If you have any questions, comments, etc. please feel free to call me! XXOOVO
P.S. I hope the folks that are standing next to Diosa in the various dances remember to grab her and pull her in--I didn't make a note of where she was supposed to stand. Ooops squared.

If there are some of you who feel as I do, which is to say, I need ALL the practice I can get, I have an alternative location for a Flower rehearsal tomorrow night. I have permission to use our church's fellowship hall. The church is Desert Garden United Church and is located at 18818 North 128th Avenue in Sun City West. It is easy to get to: 1. Go to the Bell Road and R.H. Johnson Blvd. (the main entrance to SCW) intersection and go North (the other option is to drive into the Crossroads Shopping Center.) 2. The second stoplight intersection is 128th Avenue. Turn Right on to 128th Avenue. 3. About 100 to 150 yards from the intersection, on your left hand side, is Desert Garden Church. The Fellowship Hall is the building across from the sanctuary. Practice will begin at 7:00 p.m. I've checked with Diosa, and she will not be available tomorrow evening thus, this will NOT be a dress rehearsal. Please let me know if you are interested in attending tomorrow evening as outlined above. If you have any questions (i.e. location/directions, how to spell professional, etc.) please call me at 602-319-4430. I hope to see you all at Desert Garden tomorrow night! XXOOVO.

I've been told to draw out of a hat or to rotate who I pick. On the other hand, at my discretion, I have to be sure to pick dancers who are capable of dancing and entertaining at a professional level.

Post all arguments, debates, beliefs, and feelings below! Please don't be offended by any responses posted. This is all for educational reasons as well as figuring out the best method in choosing dancers for gigs. My intent is never to hurt anybody's feelings, but the professional aspect of belly dance is much different from the amateur level, and we need to fit the needs of the customer.

I'd appreciate any updates. Misty, Lane, Maria, and I all had fun at the BDSS show last night. My daughters are always so blown away by the tribal dancers, as am I! Everyone have a good week, see you all in next class.

The show starts at 7:45 p.m., but please arrive about 7:00 p.m. especially if you want to change there. (They only have a two-stall bathroom to use for a dressing room and space will be tight.) The show should last about an hour. Let me know if you want to participate and I will include your name in the information to Nakarat for the evening's printed program. Thanks!

I order my cards from overnightprints.com and they charge $30 for 250 cards. This includes the glossy UV coating on both sides. I think shipping is an additional $7 or $8 dollars. Although if you spend $75 with them shipping is free (so combining an order if some of you are going to get individual cards as well might save us the shipping).

This may not be the best price around, it is just the place I found when I was designing my business card.
