Hi all you lovelies...I wanted to let you all know about the upcoming 2nd Annual Big Bellydance Show in Fort Jones coming May 9th, produced by Ayesha's Oasis Dance Company and featuring Saqra, Verbatim, AODC, Emily and more.... only $10 in advance. Nice stage this year so all can see and ALSO a Workshop on Taxim by Saqra at 2-4 before the show, only $20 in advance. I even put up a website this year at www.fortjones.com/bellydance/ with all the particulars in it !!! and fyi, it is full moon that night!

Hi Ya'll...just letting ya know that there will be no dancing in February due to the Arrival of a new Greek baby...but we will be back in march and I will be looking for advanced and professional performers willing to dance for tips and food. If I have seen you dance just drop me a line. If I haven't just zip me an video thru youtube and I will check it out. Once again there is no pay for this performance but...the tips are ok and the food is great....I am looking for highly entertaining performers with hella good stage presence....good luck....

TURKISH ROMAN (GYPSY)
Get ready to dance...Turkish Style! This two hour overview will introduce traditional Turkish Roma (Gypsy) techniques and isolations along with exercises to bring freedom of expression to your dance. Steps and gestures will be broken down and then layered together while focusing on the Turkish Roma 9/8 rhythm.
(Limit of 25 participants, so please be prepared to pre-register!)

I get them so bad it gives me a headache and my body hurts. Also, if I get them once in a day, I will have them at least 3 more times.

If you could only take the clothes on your back and two extra things to retreat....what would you wear and what would the two things be and why????
Rules of this game is you can only wear two layers....and the items have to be single items.....

Mine would be...a good bra and undies..could double as a swimsuit...tank and sweatshirt....wide leg pants ..and a sarong...that could be used as a towel or hip scarf....
my two items would be my pillow and sleeping bag...because I have to be able to sleep....I would beg, borrow and work for everthing else....

The usual dancer cancels.. your oh so loving friends tell the owner YOU are a wonderful belly dancer. He asks you to dance for 30 minutes and he will pay you ! and give you your meal on the house...
You had not brought a costume with you because this was just a casual trip. You run out to your car to see what you can pull together......

You come back ready to dance in..... and to what ....?????

Hello all,

I'm originally from NorCal but I'm moving up to Medford this August. I've been bellydancing since late 2003, and I. Love. It!

My question is, what's the local bellydance scene like? It seems like bellydancing's pretty big in Oregon, but what is the prevalent style? What am I going to find in Medford and the surrounding area?

Guess I'll be seeing you guys soon! (Well, maybe not literally. You get my drift. :D)

12:30-3:30 (12:15 registration) SONIA- Polynesian/Bellydance Fusion "Bellynesian"
Sonia will compare and contrast essential technique and postures between dances of the South Pacific and the Middle East. First half of workshop will be drills, second half will be choreography.

4:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. (3:45 registration) PETITE JAMILLA- "Modern Drum Solo Choreography"
A fun all levels fusion drum solo choreography that incorporates modern movements. In the choreography, you will learn how to isolate circles on the lateral plane of the body.

WORKSHOP PRICE: $55 each or both for $100 in ADVANCE, $60 each or both for $110 AT THE DOOR

Here is how it goes.

Everyone give one great tip on how to tame your nerves before to go on stage....then next time I will pick a diffrent topic....

Personally I take a Valium....not Really....but I do breath...yes I said breath...I breath in the room and exhale myself into the room seeing my energy fill the room with every breath....it works...I always take 4 or 5 deep breaths with that thought just before my music starts....

New Diva Game......

It is So time for a new Diva Game.....At this very moment how many rooms of your house has bellydance costumes overtakeing it? List the Rooms and tell us why......
5 rooms of my house have costumes taking up space....the majority of my costumes are in big huge plastic bins (about 7) in my laundry room. My best costumes are stacked on my dresser in my bedroom because I can't get into the bins in the laundryroom because of the laundry....my sewing room/Kitchen (yeah thats right half sewing room half kitchen) or what I like to call my sewitchen has my new costume that I hate spread all over it.....and my living room book shelf holds my costume in a dance bag that I wore the other night and don't want to have to hunt for it the next time I dance and the one my friend borrowed sits in front of the TV in a bag because I can't get to the bins....not to mention my jewelry in the bathroom.....all over the bathroom, Kinda like the jewelry fairy puked all over my bathroom because it was the only extra space we had....It would have been easier to tell you my children's room is the only room that does not have belly dance costumes in it But as soon as they are old enough not to tear them up they will.....oh yeah we only have 6 rooms in our house...we need a bigger house.....

Dear Friends of Kushlin,

Kushlin has been hospitalized in Portland as she was in severe pain and the tumors continue to grow; she is unable to use her left arm at this time. She is now on sufficient pain medication and will be transferred to Hopewell House, a hospice in Portland. Migs is with her. At this time it doesn’t look like she will be able to make the trip back to Bandon. If anyone is heading up to Portland she would welcome visitors, though be aware that she is on a lot of medication.

Well Susan and I talked about this last night at the Mystical Oasis Festival [which was very fun]..
Anyway here is an idea for helping in a small financial way.

A "VIRTUAL CONTEST"
I will design an entry form and post on tribes.. You print out the entry and fill in the information. Your dancer name...what you are dancing to... your costume...and a picture of you in it ! [the Kuchlin and family/friends can make a scrap book of them] and then also anything unique or totally awesome about you dance...I myself think it is time for the Turkish Drop - and I have a feeling it is going to be perfect ! Then mail it the address that will be on the entry form along with you entry fee. Now the fee is your choice on amount. Those of us who have done contest know it is usually $20 to $40 to enter but novice..like a hafla entry $5 is great too. [really what ever you can contribute I am sure is more than appreciated]
I think that as far as choosing "Winners" I have a feeling it will be a hard decision and probably a TIE... maybe we will need a dance off at a later date ?!?!?

We all see them, the Good, the Bad, the Ugly.....tantrams thrown by other Diva's or maybe ourselves....we laugh, we giggle, we are dumbfounded by their behavior. So know is a time to share with your fellow Diva's...no using names or places.....be discreet but that is all tell us what made it so funny or so memorable.....have fun....Susan

P.S. Here is mine......so a few years ago I helped host an event....just as a group of students were taking the stage I noticed that one of girls panties were showing through her skirt badly....so I started to pull her skirt over while explaining what was wrong just in time for her to whip around on me and slap my hand away and tell me that "IT WAS SUPPOST TO BE LIKE THAT" I was dumbfounded, I had just three questions.....1. Did a performer just step on my stage with her starry drawrs' shining in all their glory....2. Did she really mean for them to show....3. Did that Bitch just Slap my Hand away.......so her teacher was not there but I made damn sure that she knew every detail including asking those three questions....now here comes the true Diva Part......I refused to ever let that student ever step on a stage that had my name on it....I pushed someone away that I had known for a very long time and respected because of one of her students behavior even though she could not control it...happens all the time we see students as a reflection on their teacher....and expect a teacher to control their students....funny that works about as well as me trying to control my two year old.....ok so now I know....I got off track....so where was the teacher?....she had a loved one pass away and couldn't be at the event I caught her right after she got home from being with her family....I can be such a cold hearted bitch....such a Diva....in the really ugly way.....hopefully having children has made me a better person.....hopefully my Diva is a good Diva now.....I have since said my "I'm Sorry I'm a totally bitch" to that teacher but there is a moral of this story....no matter what a student does always respect the teacher or one better, slap the bitch back and tell her to fix her damn costume....hehehehe

Diva's guide to motherhood.....

So my mother said it best...It's hard to be a Diva when you have little kids....I am getting ready to take my big first diva step out on stage...and out of the corner of my eye I see my darling two year old son...head thrown back, screaming at the top of his lungs, running as fast as he can away from his father....where is he running...oh yes dear diva's he is running across the stage....instead of my audience being wowed by my diva presence they are now rolling in the floor laughing...trying to maintain some of my diva presence i tiptoe out and snatch him from the middle of the stage...one of those under the arm mid-run backward snatches.....and in one quick movement I set him in is father's and start my dance......oh yes I have been announced and my music has started....so what is the fix for this diva disruption....I say duct tape.....duct tape them to the chair and a little piece across the mouth....cause god knows when your whole family are belly dance diva's there is no one to stay home with the little sweet children......
