Re: unedited copy
Mon, December 25, 2006 - 5:49 PMok. so this is a bit involved so i'll summarize
the copy i had was from shunka, on dvd.
you use a program called DVD Decrypter to rip the dvd onto your computer
then use a program called Auto Gordian Knot (AutoGK) to recompile the movie into .avi format
then you can open it in adobe premiere, edit it, then i found the easiest way from there was to burn it to a dvd from premiere
then use dvd decrypter again to rip the dvd to your computer, then use autogk to recompile into a .avi, but make sure to set the target file size to 100 megs, since that is the maximum file size for youtube, and it also has to be under 10 minutes (which is why our show is in two parts
(exporting to .avi from premiere was a nightmare, none of the codecs worked..there was ways of using avisynth in some way, or to use premiere as a frame server to feed virtual dub audio and video, then use virtual dub to compress the video and audio together at the same time, yet i lacked the patience at 4 in the morning to spend any more time fiddeling)
so yea
it took be a good day of using other programs before i found this method, which seemed perfect except for the waste of a dvd (whish isn't really a waste since it's hard copy)
autogk created the file using a compression technology called xvid, which is what youtube recommends. there was also a way of using divx, which could of been less pixelated or whatnot..
if that makes any sense... :) -

Re: unedited copy
Fri, January 12, 2007 - 9:28 PMthis is sweet because you can use the same steps to bootleg programs to share, I mean, store (just in case). it seems to make sense technologically. at any rate, i can finally put some stuff up on youtube without frustrating myself into disenvowing all technology and throwing my computer out the window.
