So I hate blow a whistle on semantics, but I am wondering where the name Divali came from.

I am currently in Singapore, more specifically, Little India. It is currently Deepavali, or Festival of lights, there are lights over the street, a large marketplace, worship, and other events everywhere. Apperently this festival is also called Diwali, but no one knows about a Divali. I guess the translation somewhere must have replaced the "w" with a "v".

just thought i would post this in case anyone is ambitios and looking for preformance options....

Greetings fire performers,

We are now accepting applications for this years decompression in
SF. I will need the following info for now. (to make my life easier
please change subject in reply to "DECOM FIRE PERFORMER: group or
solo name"). Please do this quick DEADLINE next Monday 9/24.

Needed
- A brief description of your performance (solo, free style, duet,
choreography)

-Length of performance (min - max and preferred length)

-can you perform with others music or do you need your own.

-Tools you will use (please explain new or unusual tools)

-Fire safety set up.

-Names of your performers and safety (include their contact info
and real names for Will Call)

**I may need a video of you and your group performing to show the
fire marshal. This can be anywhere or anything as long as it shows a
safe performance. Online and downloadable would be fantastic.

There will probably be a meeting early in the day for the Fire
Marshall to look at your tools and ask you questions about your
performance. This will be required. Failure to show up will drop
you from the performance. I will confirm time and place with you
when the fire Marshall confirms with us. However realistically only
one person from your group will have to be in attendance, (but this
has yet to be confirmed)

Other than that here is some other info of relevance:

Call time is 1hr before you perform.

Check in will be with me or one of my assistance (who will be
introduced at the check in meeting earlier).

I will have 2 or 3 assistant fire Safety for the night, however
they will be back up safety only.

"The Missing" Inferknow Event...workday Wed. 5/30

Hi All,
Well there will be the general work day for June 1st on wednesday 5/30. There is a lot of overgrowth, so if anyone has lawnmower or weed eater type tools to bring, jump on the bandwagon. Basically we'll clean up the arena, camping and parking areas, remove debris and clear out the burn area. We will be out there on Tues, Thurs and Fri too so if Wed doesn't work for your schedule get ahold of me and I'm sure there will be plenty to do in set-up and decorating on other days too. Humboldt Spin Co-Op Fundraiser!

The HSC is planning it's first fundraising event!! There will be DJs & samba drumming & a fire show & dancing & poi for purchase & fun & joy & did I mention joyful dancing fun!! More details to follow, but for now...
Plan to come out on:
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 16TH. Doors at 8:30. DANCENTER ARCATA. Sliding scale starting at $3 (remember, it's a fundraiser to help us all!). If you sign up for membership, then the event is free!!
Membership is $25 & not only gets you into the event, but will allow you access to the Dancenter (mirrored indoor studio space) Mondays 8 - 10pm for SIX MONTHS for practice, learning, sharing, networking...whatever as long as it involves spinning!! We're in the planning stages of providing members with some other perks ;)

STEP ONE ~ COMMUNICATE INTENT - TELL ME
STEP TWO ~ CREATE CHOREOGRAPHY
STEP THREE ~ SUBMIT MEDIA - SHOW ME

CRITERIA FOR BECOMING A GROUP WITHIN THE FIRE CONCLAVE

All groups, old or new, will be required to audition for admission
into the Fire Conclave membership,and will be considered based on the
following:
• SHIN - there must be one person who will take charge and be the
leader of a group. INCLUDING being present on the playa until after
burn night.
• Complete and quality of application information.
• Clarity and ease of communication between Crimson and Shin.
• Communications between Shin and members of the group.
• Quality of proposed performance content.
• Adherence to rules, standards, deadlines.
• Rally a group of free spirited individuals.
• Lead with a firm but flexible and patient hand.
• Understand fire safety protocols.
• Be willing to vouch and be responsible for the actions of all
members of their group.
• AND recognize spinning in the Great Circle is an honor and a gift.
• Being responsible for wrangling cats on fire in a choreographed
fire dance and communicating all necessary information.

• Qualified entries will create choreography. This can include any
fire tool and is open to broad interpretation in an effort to
encourage diversity and creativity from the Fire Artists in the
community.
• Fire Conclave is given 25 minutes to dance. This can be broken up
in how ever you feel it works for you. You might only have 15 minutes
of dance, that is fine. You can do chaos / free style after that.

COMMUNICATE INTENT - TELL ME

DEADLINE - MARCH 1, 2007
• Shin will communicate the intention that their group is interested
in performing and willing to meet the criteria, deadlines and
responsibilities.
• The Shin may or may not know in March how many performers or who
the support staff is or what kind of dance the group will be
creating. All of this is fine.
• Because of the crazy nature of life in general the Shin may want to
name a person that will assist them with activities, carry part of
the load. This is what we call Shin Assist.
• Even if you have communicated with me since the last event, please
send another email with as much of the following information:

• NAME OF GROUP:
• NAME OF SHIN:
• SHIN EMAIL ADRESS:
• GROUP WEB SITE ADDRESS:
• LOCATION IN THE WORLD:
• SHIN ASSIST:
• HELMSMEN:
• LIST OF PERFORMERS (if you know) WITH THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:

AFTER COMMUNICATING INTENTION
Once March 1st deadline has come a discussion list for the Shin will
be created. The list will communicate details that are essential for
further information and to share knowledge among other groups.

STEP TWO STEP TWO STEP TWO
CREATE CHOREOGRAPHY

• Create Choreography – The art of composing dances, the movement and
patterns of a dance composition means there is thought to the dance.

The direction for the Fire Conclave is choreographed dances, the
opposite to simple fire jam/ chaos. There is nothing wrong with free
form fire jams and each group will get a chance at a bit of chaos.
But to step within the boundary of the Great Circle, there needs to
be more. A diverse range of styles and techniques, choreograph with
intention make the best contribution to the Fire Conclave. “Fire
Dance” does NOT mean only one kind of dance or only a small number of
tools. Fire Dance is as diverse and wide ranging as the imagination
of the dancer that lights up. It is human nature to evolve and the
drive to move fire dance to the next evolutionary leap is no
exception. Because of the diverse level of the membership of the Fire
Conclave, some of you are already familiar with creating
choreographed dances. While others are not use to thinking in this
direction, it become a stretch (in a good way) of your creative mind.
The dance can include any fire tool and is open to broad
interpretation in an effort to encourage diversity and creativity
from fire artists in the community. Choreography does not necessarily
mean a synchronized dance, but it could.

STEP THREE STEP THREE STEP THREE
SUBMIT MEDIA - SHOW ME ~ DEADLINE - JULY 1, 2006
• Submit Media – This could be in any form; video, DVD, web address.
I am able to view the following applications: Windows Media Player or
QuickTime Player.
• The media should show as much of the dance that is possible. I
understand that sometimes it is impossible to have the full group
together at one time. The media is to give me a basic idea of what
you are planning to do.
• Written Information
• Name of Group
• Name of Shin
• List all members of the group with the following information:
• Name
• Position (performers, helmsmen, fire watch or drummers)
• Email address.
• Written Detailed Plan of the dance that will be presented on the
playa that will accompany the media.
• For those that live in the Bay Area, it is possible to do a Show Me
in person, please schedule ahead of time.

CHALLENGE
I challenge the Fire Performers of today and I know that you will
meet and embrace it hold heartedly. Leave the past dances alone and
take the evolutionary leap. If you have done a dance a certain way
then try something else. That is the whole point of choerography to
try new dances, moves, new tools. Stretch your imagination. The drive
to excel fire dance is a continued push for evolution. New and
different moves that propel a flaming tool through the air take on
new life.

discuss fire safety, basic first aid, spinning off your fuel, discuss how to know whether or not you can burn back to the future tracks into the short, thin, green wiggly things under your feet
invest energy in obtaining a source for short term, affordable insurance, so we can do things like go back to arts alive! in eureka
share music with each other, perhaps that we feel we could use at a show
invite people & drums over
watch some videos of spinnin, cirque du soleil, mcp, so forth
connect to a higher level of consciousness for cerebral expansion & tune into collective knowledge on whatever focus is currently present
make additional equipment

divali was kickass. i had a lot of fun and i got a lot of complements for the whole performance, even in lou of the mad rushiness and unfortunate cut-off for a couple of dances.

i have been more inspired to practice since saturday night, but i shouldn't just be practicing on my own and with nathon. let's all get together regularly and we can make a nice potluck/craft night/fire choreography/teach-in extravaganza.

who's in??? let's do it. once a week, come on. we just did it every night for a whole week somehow; i think we can pull off one night a week.
are sundays and wednesdays still good for everyone???

tomorrow is wednesday........anybody interested???

was thinking about that table at sacred grounds, with da people gathered around

also thinkin about a mask i made awhile back that that i used with megan.. it's still on it's journey on home to me. it brought the thought about making another one, so if anyone is interested in makin some masks, lemme know. i'm going to take a journey to an art store to buy plaster and so forth when i have a better idea of how much to get. also jillian, keep track of that box of paints.. and eghan, thanks for showin the basics of makin :) chad, second try?

The plot so far...

Hokay - heres what we got. I missed the meeting last night so correct any mistruths that spouteth forth.

The show is running on a timeline of history from the era of scandalously clad reptile women to the future where we are all liberated by a saintly sweet notion from the Machine that would have us in barcodes and microchip genitalia and an on/off switch. So:

First its the lizard ladies:
Stacey, Karina, Megan, Raine, Jillian, Shaina, Quinn?

Then out come the cave dudes (is this one still on the agenda?):
Jerimiah, Matt, Paul?, Chad?, Monkeyballs

And now the tribal love/lust dance:
Shaina&Nathon, Jillian&Chad

Enter angry Christian knight on a quest from the Good Lord to teach us missionary position:
Greg and previous group

Skip forward in time a bit; business suited dictators rile the machine into a clacking churning firey frenzy:
Paul, Raine, Greg - the machine is everyone except Meghan and Teri(?)

Just when it looks like its all over for humanity in all its benevolent ways, out comes the flower girls to deconstruct the machine and reimbibe the dreary cast with a breath of sweeeet life:
Meghan, Teri(?)

The orchestra holds a high note that resolves in a perfect cadence, tears blossom in the unsuspecting and woebegone corners of eyeballs, lights dim, curtain close, the cast goes backstage and eats cake & mint chip ice creame.

So thats what we got. Man, where does all this brilliance come from anyways? Sometimes I wonder if Divali is the only collection of human beings left that God Himself chooses to intrust with his Divine Inspiration in this degenerate sin-spewing Modern World were living in. Of course the Mormons lost it in no time and I hear rumor that He gave up on the Masons just recently - yep, pretty sure that leaves just us.
I salute you, good people of Divalitron 9000.

Anyhow

Maybe the folks with the (?) can post what they want to do. Teri, yr fire peahen would be schweet for the end bit if you want to use it. Other than that, pick out some music for your section and get it to a meeting in some form or another so we can assimilate the Sonic Masterdisk and throw this cat in the bag!

to those who have missed previous meetings

we have set up our home to have wednsday and sunday designated as days for meetings

every wednsday and sunday

so far i think there are 2 or 3 people that use tribe that have shown intrest, that have not had the time schedule to make attending a meeting possible

keep in mind every week there is two meetings. we have a general layout of our performace thought up, but we are still needing completion on ideas for music, and the placement of the last few people in the show

i would hope that you would have a chance before a weeks time to meet up. perhaps tomorrow?

Amidst general indecision, and sunshine enhanced haze,

i decided we should host another meeting, then told next to no one.

In other words, if anyone would like to come over this evening to discuss ideas, my space is open. I know some are coming from word of mouth. anyone else can just show up,

Further, Im gonna go ahead and propose that we meet every sunday till Oct.14, and at least one other week day (maybe Wednesday)
These meetings are all optional, with the idea that two days a week will allow more folks to atleast be able to attend some meetings.

October Theme

i would like to take a moment to speak apon a topic of:

what is required to become involved in our upcoming performance?

first off, everyone is welcome

if you want to be involved, don't expect anyone else to snap the whip at getting you motivated.
motivate yourself, throw yourself into the basic framework we allread have established and help us build what, at this moment is a dream.

to be involved, involve yourself. come to our meetings. create meetings at your own locations and times. brainstorm ideas for the performance and share them. ask advice, share advice. just don't expect others to do all the work, and tell you what to do. anything and everything is possible

the biggest problem with our last performance was that people expected to have a director tell them what to do. we have no leader, each person has just as much power and input over the final product as the next. a friend was overwhelmed last performance with being given the job of doing the things others felt wasn't their job, i would hope that this go around everyone would take a portion of the responsabilities and make this a pleasant and easygoing experience for everyone involved

if you we involved in our last performance, awsome. you allready know the situation, if you would like to be in the next one you are allready welcome

if you havn't worked with us before, either in our performances, or at arts alive, so forth, my words of advice are: you allready have an open invatation, you don't need to ask. as long as you are familiar with fire saftey, and common sense, we would love to have you become involved. when there is a meeting listed, just show up! if the meeting is at a time you can't make, create a time and a place yourself and ask others to show up, i can garuntee they will.

once we have predefined groups set up for each segment of the performance, creating small gatherings for practice will become alot easier to do. do you have a group of people you would like to have a segment of the performance with? great! you could start practicing today on what you would like to do. last time we had 7 individual shows that were streamlined together, and this worked remarkably well. i imagine we will use this framework again.

Fall Performance?

Okay, looks like October 14 is being thrown out for Fall Burn, or whatever it will end up being called.

Wondering, is anyone putting together another performance, like for Spring? I appologize, I was unable to be in the 6th chakra - hoop piece, as I was sick as can be...morning, day and night sickness.....

Well, I am now feeling much better....although I am growing bigger (pregnant) every day. I am due in December, and will be pretty plump around October 14, but that cannot stop me!!! I can still whip that fire hoop around like no other!!!!

Can also still spin poi, and well, can do both at the same time.....just like riding a bike,,,,never forget.

ANYWAY>>>>>MY STORY OVER: I would LOVE to participate in whatever someone wants to come up with.....I still have several extra hoops for anyone else who wants to hoop too.....

Anything in the works yet?

What is Divali??

That question has been floating around alot lately, and I feel like I ought to make some kind of statement to elucidate what little I know, especially since i have been getting requests for us to perform. I am not sure that what i am about to say will be agreed with by all, but when is everything ever agreed to by all? I have talked about this with some of the principles, enough to say the following things.

Divali is a performance, not a group.

There is a group of us who decided to collaborate to make this performance happen, but there is absolutely no group structure or form whatsoever. We're just a bunch of friends who decided to make something happen.That something was awesome, but there are some things that need to be recognized.

In six months, we had not a single meeting where everyone who eventually participated in this project actually met at the same time.
We had no single meeting that actually involved the same group of people.
Any number of folks dropped in or out of the performance, sometimes with very little notice.
All of our performers go to college, have jobs, and/or have other performance related projects going on.
The show itself had seven individual segments, with one to four performers. The absence of even one or two of these people negates the possibility of repeating the performance(at least given our current situation).
Since the performance, our group has not met to discuss the future of this performance or group.

All that being said, Divali is, for now, not available, either as a group or as a performance.

That brings me to a few things to address the requests for fire performers for various parties events, etc.

Number one, for right now contact Movement Society, http://www.movementsociety.com/
Raine has the only organization in place, at the present, for arranging fire performances. You will have to talk to her about her schedule, availablitly, yadda-yadda. If there are other performance groups here in Humboldt, I don't know of them, but thats not saying very much. If there are, please come forward and announce yourselves, we would like to get to know you.

Also, there is no reason that you can't post on tribes like Humboldt Burn Society, of NorCal Fire society. If you just want some spinners, you are sure to get a few who have time or interest.

This leads to the fact that there are easily some 50 odd fire spinners in and around these parts. I've been to an arts alive where there were 30 performers, many of whom i have not seen before, or since. There is a lot of spinning going on here in Humboldt, but it all seems to be groups of 5 or 10 friends who just get together informally. It seems like there ought to be some collaboration among these groups, but at present there is none.

It would be nice if there was some umbrella organization that could facilitate interaction among these disparate groups. There are clearly opportunities to perform, but with so many conflciting schedules, it is difficult to get a small group together. I know Raine has expressed frustration that her little group sometimes gets requests, but only one or two members can actually get time off to prepare a performance. If we had a much larger pool of performers, it would make getting a performance together Much easier.

I don't know how this suggestion sits with the rest of the fire community, but iwould like to see Fire performance grow here. We need greater collaboration in order to achieve that, and that can mean putting aside personal differences to get on with the work of performing.

How do we achieve this? I think that is a question open to considerable discussion. I would like to suggest that we attempt to coordinate a meet and greet party open to all fire artists in the area, perhaps sometime in septmeber when more of the community is around town, but before the smester gets in full swing.

I would also suggest that we bat around some ideas here, and in person when we can meet.

That is my piece for now. I would very much like to see some response to this, even if you just want to argue with me.

thanks for everyones praise and support of the Divali performance and performers. We will definitely be performing again, we just don't know yet in what form. Hopefully, if nothing else we have helped kick fire perfomance in this community up a notch, and maybe we can make it grow.

So on a tangent to my diatribe below, I feel compelled to pass along some requests for fire performers.

Both are from Club Risque, which is hosting several events that would benefit from flaming fools.

The first is The Erotic Frolic, on Staurday July 29, 2006. The location is not yet announced, but is purportedly close to Arcata. Big John specifically asked me to 'make something happen' for this event. I am not able to attend, but i do feel compelled to spread the word. If you know John, you can talk to him directly about performing/being compensated. If you don't, message me, and I'll arrange communication. He told me tickets could potentially be comped (tickets are $25 !), and fuel provided (at least that's what i think he said, Dance floor conversations you know...)

The second event is the Secret Garden, Sept 29-Oct. 1. This was posted by Regina, and there is a detailed description in the Divali??? post below. It sounds like they would like an actual show, rather than random performing. As this is several months away, there may be time to put something together for this. At the present my schedule is way out in limbo, so i have no idea whether i can make any commitments.

So, I just talked to Corrine...she will not be a part of our performance. She was double booked, and has to attend somewhere else with her fans.

So now I am the only person with fans.
Jillian, my only suggestion is to keep mine for another day (then i NEED them back to practice), look at how I made them...buy some wick from Greg or someone and Make a smaller pair QUICKLY! Use 10 guage WIRE and LEATHER or some other tie.
Megan, do you have fans? Any suggestions?
This sucks, and is veyr last minute...so we betta figure this out with a QUICKNESS!
Worse comes to worse, we may have to add some one at the last minute to do the 4th chakra with me.

Hey Beautifuls! Thought I'd take this opportunity to make sure everyone is clear about WHO is in WHAT chakra dance, what TOYS they will be using, and the coresponding COLOR to their skit. Because everyone cannot attend every meeting we've had, some people may be left out of this cast line up. If there is a serious mistake contact me, but otherwise TUFF LUCK because we've got 2 weeks, and we're dealing with about 20 people. After you've read your group, realize that YOU are RESPONSIBLE for contacting your co-workers to practice on your own time. There may be ONE final get together at the property to decide timing, spacing etc. So, with that said- here is our FINAL CAST for the DIVALI FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS MAY PERFORMANCE:

Chakra 1: Megan (white) angelic opening giving the FIRST fire to
Paul with staff (RED)
Chakra 2: Raine and Eghan with poi, Chad and Shaina with staffs (ORANGE)
Chakra 3: Chad and Jeremiah with staffs Greg with sword (YELLOW)
Chakra 4: Corrine +1, Raine all fans (there were two other girls interested, but without fans your s.o.l....if you can make fans AND have to skill built up to do this peformance we can talk about adding) (GREEN)
Chakra 5: Jeremiah Shae and Steve (THESE PEOPLE HAVE NOT CONFIRMED OR ATTENDED A MEETING...THIS COULD BE DISASTEROUS, WE MUST CONTACT THE JUGGELERS!!!!) Throwing Pins, Bre Mentioned spinning Poi....will this work? ( BLUE)
Chakra 6: Julie Amber Kimber hulahoops, again people have not attended meetings- so its up to YOU to get together and make this work! (INDIGO)
Chakra 7: Regina Fire Saucer <----- this girl just added, I've met with her and she's rad...she will finish the performance with a bellydance ballancing a fire cup on her head (PURPLE).

*the FINALE will include 3 LARGE groups of probably 7 people each... the idea being that we're standing in line with our groups with the FIRST at the line FIRE dancing until their toy burns out (toy of your choice). It should be climactic and FAST! When your about to go out...light the next person in your line and move off stage. This will not only create a CONTINUOUS fire dance for 15+ minutes, but it will allow EVERYONE to dance one final time doing whatever moves they like...call it your 15 minutes of fame...then passing the baton so to speak to the next person...If we set the lines up so that the toys change with each person, we can have one hoop one poi and one staff on at a time, then one fan, one sword, one juggeler etc...this will incorperate all of our skill levels, toys, and styles in a Grand Finale that'll make people poop their pants a little.

So, with all that said....if you are NOT on the list of "Fire" Performers...don't worry! We have several other ways you can be included! We will need at LEAST 2 if not 3 people on "FIRE SAFETY" -personally I would rather these people be fire spinners themselves so they know what to expect and how to move quickly incase someone is on fire. We need "FIRE POLICE, or FIRE PO-POs" People to stand around the 'stage' area and make sure stupid people and trippers don't get too close or try to bombard the fire area (This is an important job, and I'll even make you a little badge!) Then we need the Fire "Helpers" I will call them the BICS because they will be like a lighter for the performers... people ready to light a toy at the begining of the dance, and if a wick goes out at the wrong time- the BIC will run up quickly and re-light you.

SO there are at least 8 more Jobs, if you want to be involved call me 496 1533 or contact Greg, Eghan, or Chad...someone with major involvement.

I will also be dealing with the costumes....I posted that seperatly, so if you havent paid the $10 yet...READ THAT POST!!!!

This is potentally a fantastic and perfessional performance! I really believe that we can pull this together even on such short notice...Lets make it happen! The only way this will not work, is if you do nothing...and at this point... tell me NOW if you plan on doing nothing because I'll kick you in the ass. I have everyone (except Shae, Steve, Amber and Kimber) 's phone number, so if you need to contact your group ask me for those...I dont want to post them.

Hi folks,
The spring event hosted by Inferknow has been moved back to accomodate better weather and higher family attendance. The new date for the event is Saturday May 13. Called "The Bacchus Raucous" it will run pretty much as they have in the past....gates opening around 4pm for camping set-up....music should start around the same time.....and continuing into the wee hours of the morning. Tickets should go on sale very soon....look for flyers around town....and will be $20. Something new we are trying is a $5 charge for parking.....not to chisel any money or anything, but to encourage car-pooling. Parking spaces are limited so lets try to coordinate rides for everyone. The music line-up continues to grow, and we anticipate live fire performances and clowning frivolity so keep looking for new posts. We are also trying to expand the artistic aspect of this event so if you have any ideas for art insta;llations or wish to volunteer, opportunities are available...tribe me if you are interrested.

Bring it on, we want yer ideas ta make this the best one yet, and it will be. We need volunteers too. Some work ta be done to the dance area and we need help moving and adding onto the stage. We will be MEETING every SATURDAY at 1PM at MUDDY WATERS. Hope ta hear ideas from yall!!

DOWN TO BASICS

Okay, time to sit down and be realistic for this performance. Really. Time to buckle up.
There has been very little choreography done, and I think that is in part to the uncertainty of the groups in which everyone is performing.
Now, I personally think we starting planning way to grand for our time and our stoney efforts...I think it's time to cut down to the chase and really figure something out.
Lets post WHO EXACTLY is in WHAT GROUP....so there are 7 seperate performances?
There are WAY too many people interested in dancing in this performance, and I think we need to figure out the CORE members (I.E. founders of the whole IDEA) and the rest of our super talented fire dancers will have time and space to fire dance all night long...just not durring the one hour slot we have to do this. There will be time and space for fire dancers ALL NIGHT LONG....what we need from those people who won't be in the chakra performance is FIRE SAFTEY and FILMING!
Maybe we should narrow the groups down, instead of just throwing names into each catagory...think about who is CAPABLE of what...and realistically we dont need more than 2-4 people on "stage" dancing at a time for the dramatization of this to occur perfectly. That means 28 people MAX...and thats ALOT! I think having 15 CORE people who will organize the groups and start CHOREOGRAPHING this will run smoothly and sex-ily (is that a word?I like it).
So....with all my ranting and raving.... lets start a crazy long post and be straight up about who's in which dance...WHEN THEY WILL MEET TO PRACTICE and COSTUMES.
Corrine and I have talked briefly about co-ordinating the chakra colors to match the performers....I have 2 sewing machines available at my house... problem here is FUNDING.
What happend to the WTF Fundraiser? Where did that money go? There was like $300 and only 2 bands played!!!!
With $10 per chakra EVERYONE in the chakra can have a similar look, if we work with a base color like BLACK (the most common fire dancing color, and something almost everyone already has). Thats $70.... Very Reasonable. I can also do tribal make-up/body art as well for like an extra $15.... stil very reasonable.
There is so much to discuss here. If we keep lagging, it's just going to be us doing our normal thing on stage with people wondering why we're getting this whole hour deciated to the same thing we were doing 20 feet away 1/2 hour ago.

LETS MAKE THIS HAPPEN! I believe we are all talented enough to choreograph without the final tracks that will be played...imagine we are choreographing this for a normal performance, where we have to dance to the music thats there... improvise the rhythm!!!

And im not screaming in capital letters....but theres no ITALIC! :) :) :)

1.) How will the performance pieces (chakras) transition from one to the next?

2.) How long shall our piece be?

3.) What are other people's costumes like? Is there relationship to each chakra? Is there continuity among chakras???

4.) and ... my ever-present question... any collective rehearsals???

AND......

Who might be the 5th Chakra? Need to do some collaboration on passing the fire.........

Friday the 7th at the Milking Barn (on dead man's curve @ Spear, near Mad River Hospital)

Throw together a bit with a few friends. Nothing too fancy now, but something more than the usual free-for-all, perhaps.

I would love to get some run-thru/dress rehearsal times set up now... before my calendar gets all tied up and busy. Is it possible to set up a couple dates/times that all of the chakra pieces come together for a run-through of the entire fire performance? Can all music, etc. be part of this too?

Time to meet again

So much to do! In addition to making progress on the main performance, we also need to throw together some stuff for the fundraiser party.

Id like to focus on costuming and pooling resources for the performances. A

Also, we really need to set some practices and meetings up for the next 2 months, do some longer range planning, especially since some of the performers have very demanding schedules to fit into. We need to look at meeting at the event site for some runthroughs, and we might alos have a hook-up for a large indoor space where we could all meet and practice without having to worry so much about weather.

all things to think about! Im going to suggest next Sunday, March 19th, but I don't Know how this will work, whether folks are back from break trips and all.
