Re: Fishnet gauntlet pattern
Tue, March 4, 2008 - 12:03 PMDown at the bottom of this thread are a bunch of patterns, but they are knit, not crochet. But I bet they are out there!!
I googled "crochet gauntlets" and came up with a bunch. Good luck!

Re: Fishnet gauntlet pattern
Tue, March 4, 2008 - 3:52 PMI have made 4 pairs....black, lavendar, pink and metalic blue. they are to die for and they feel so sexy on the arms... this is what I am making my belly dance buddies for Christmas. I am a slow crocheter...and I have a gazillion other prodjects going on... good luck....
PS I used a lurex yarn that was shiney and didn't bother with the sequins......also added a small elastic at the top, hand stitched for extra dance secutiry...... -

Re: Fishnet gauntlet pattern
Wed, March 5, 2008 - 11:07 AMHi,
When you made the gauntlets, did you vary the number of stitches per row for the upper part of your arm, or did the stitches create a stretchy garment that fit anyway? I'm not sure if I'm explaining what I mean very well...
Thanks!

Re: Fishnet gauntlet pattern
Wed, March 5, 2008 - 2:48 PMIt is like a sock, it looks smaller when it is off but when you put your arm in it is stretches out, so it also will get shorter than when you don't have it on. I made a black pair that I made so the go clear up almost to my arm pit. the holes allow them to expand, so keep trying them on the get the right length, it can look like they would fit up over your elbow but in reality when you put them on they might only come up eight inches on the arm. The nice thing is that you are crocheting from the top of the arm down to the wrist. so the finger thing is the last thing so you can keep trying them on and keep adding on. I used safety pins to mark the amount of rows I had done and pinned every 10 rows, and left the pins in (and then you don't have to recount every time). that way when I made the matching gauntlet I made sure it was the right length. sometimes I crochet tighter than others. I crocheted a shorter pair and (just above the elbow) and that was 51 rows before adding the work that goes to the finger chain....but I am also a bigger girl. Also I started with a chain of 60, you might want to work a chain and add a couple of rows to see how it fits you.......and then go from there, also the yarn I used was nylon lurex wihch is stretcher than a cotton......

Re: Fishnet gauntlet pattern
Wed, March 5, 2008 - 4:13 PMI used the website pattern.....and I made them long enough to cover up to my pits...... I did add a little black elastic, I think it was about 1/4 inch wide, just had stitched it on......kinda test out what will be best for your arm size....like I did 60 in the chain and I did not add the top row for the elastic, I think Naydah said she didn't either on her site..... -

Re: Fishnet gauntlet pattern
Thu, March 6, 2008 - 12:20 PMOkay, while I am accomplished at sewing and knitting, my crocheting skills leave a lot to be desired. I only really know how to do chain stitch properly.
How do I do the arcs? It said 5 chain stitches and one slip stitch, but I'm not sure what that means. Can someone explain it to me like I'm a 4 year old?
Thanks in advance! -

Re: Fishnet gauntlet pattern
Thu, March 6, 2008 - 1:07 PMthe arch is made after you get your chain row and join together in a circle ( my crochet skills are very basic) then chain 5 but count over 3 to hook it into the chain so it will be loopy, crochet 5 hook in the 3rd stitch. then when you do the next round the third stitch you hook into will be at the top of the last row of loopys but when you hook into it, it will become the top of the diamond shape then do chain 5 and hook into the 3rd stitch in the top of the next loopy. If you can look at the directions she is better at explaining it than I am....... -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Fishnet gauntlet pattern
Thu, March 6, 2008 - 1:10 PMso like your loopy will be 1 2 3 4 5 stitches and all the next chain 5 stitches will hook in the 3rd chain so there is an even number of stitches on either side. like 1 2 ....hook in top of 3 and the 45 are just the other part that makes the diamond. She tells you how to get from your first row of loops to the top of the #3 chain for the second row......

Re: Fishnet gauntlet pattern
Sat, March 8, 2008 - 11:51 PMmy daughter has used her fishnet nylons/pantyhose that were no longer suitable for legs. She cut off the lower part of the leg, you could string a little elastice thread thru the top/bottom as needed - she didn't. No crochet involved...
