Hello all! I'm trying to work up some sketches for a costume that I'm wanting to create, and I've run across a problem (thank goodness I'm still sketching!)
I want a bra with partially beaded cups. The bottom half of the cup is scrunched black fabric, and the top part is beaded blue fabric. The colors are solid, but the blue fabric is used throughout the costume, and I'm wanting it to show through the beading. I've seen costumes (some of the cheaper ones on ebay) that do this, and they always seem to use that squiggly random pattern (example: www.bellydancercostume.info/prod...l.php ). I want something that is more intentional than this, and something that preferably makes some sort of design, but that still lets the fabric show through. I've found a couple of patterns for edging, but I need to fill the whole cup, as well as gauntlets. Does anyone know where I could find a pattern for something like that? I've tried drawing one, but it never seems to come out right, and I need some references.
Thank you so much
Mahlika

Re: Help with Beading a Bra
Mon, October 26, 2009 - 2:24 PMI'd go here: bellydancestore.biz/ and look at the pretty sparklies. Most (all?) of the costumes have close ups of the beading on the bras and belts. You can look for what works and what doesn't and more important, what you like and what you don't.
