Hi, just made my first costume--sort of a 20s vamp theme--and while I was pleased with it over all, I couldn't stop the left side (the twins' less attractive member--from gapping at the top. I tried tape, padding, tightening and re-tightening the straps, covering said padding, sticking yet more padding beneath and it finally came down to, "Okay, that back bend is just going to have to be a lean back".
Story of my life. Very depressing.
Any suggestions? No surgery planned in the near future, so I imagine I'll run into this problem again...sigh.

So, how does that work? Should I do it on both sides to match it up? Sorry for the dumb questions...I got a lot of compliments on my costume but I really, really don't know what the hell I'm doing. -

Tue, October 28, 2008 - 6:53 AMYou don't need a *hard* gathering <<like you get when elastic is drawn super tight>>. I think you'll need just enough stretch to make the top edge of the cup slightly puckered looking when it's not stretched. When you put the bra on, the elastic puts tension on the top inside edge of the cup which helps it stay closer to the body. You might have to experiment to get the right amount of tension.
You could do both sides - a> so that any noticeable *pucker* is matched on each side and will look intentional and b> just to be on the safe side for both *girls*.
