I was doing a new tassel belt for myself and my 4 year old insisted she needed one too. She's been begging for her own costume for what seems like forever so I gave in. Since I was making something for his sister I did a drummer outfit for my little boy too. My belt, the vest and pants, and her belt all came from a 25 cent table runner I picked up at the thrift store. Super cheap because it had quite a few holes. I cut around, cut the borders apart, and in general hacked the thing to bits. With that and 2 yards of burgundy flannel, and a cone of wool weaving thread I got at a garage sale I think it all cost me under $5. Her little belt is a felted wool sweater base, some shells I got as part of a cowrie planter I got for $5 at the thrift store (I took it apart and have made myself I don't know how many cowrie falls, belts, etc.) and some junk beads I had in my bead box. I did buy the tassel trim for full price-- $2.99 a yard.

I'm not sure how to link the pictures, but they are in my profile. :)
